11/17 pm After an watch hit the island to set up ground spot for opener in am. Bumped a buck out right where I hope one is in morning. Wandered around and sat on ground for 1.5 before dark. Bow is done [emoji20] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Got outa stand at 10 and scared that button off. Pizzed in scrape, pulled card showed not a lot. One 8 but I think that cam missed 9 outa 10 shots[emoji1361] Hit the island and yea road open. That saves me 35 more minutes walking in morning. Cleared out tomorrow’s spot and nudged what looked like a 6[emoji849], Wandered around a bit and sitting in a new spot. I’m on ground and thick but what the heck can’t shoot one not hunting! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

My 15 yo son says he wants to take the TC Triumph. Had him sighting in his youth Mossberg 20 last weekend and he’s not thrilled with shotguns lol. He knows the TC drives tacks out to 150. I think I’ve lost that gun lol!! I will be going with the Marlin 30-30 if I hit the island. The Ithaca Deerslayer II if I stay around home in shotgun world. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Not to derail the thread but I think it parallels it. Are most pop ups waterproof? I have one I hardly ever use and I have no idea lol. Ameristep I think? Also I hesitate to use one on public land. I don’t want to be not be seen by other hunters! I’d have to drape safety vests all over it? Tips? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe make a deal with a good processor. He displays a couple of your items and sale info and supplies you in heads. You raise price a couple bucks for his cut. That way also if someone wanted a doe or buck they shot done it would be right there. My butcher would prob give me hundreds but ima long way from you bud lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I put electrical tape over the end of my gun barrels on inclement weather days. I also find the little clip on lens cleaners worth weight in gold. Great for drying scopes and binoculars. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well glad I picked tower since it’s wetter than predicted and I’m nice and dry. Just not sure the deer agree this is the spot though[emoji53] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

can you explain why hunters would want to shorten gun season?

Lol now PA is a successful trophy state lol!! At least comparing NY to PA makes some since. It has high hunter density and a lot of different terrain comparable to NY. Comparing NY to a mid west or west state is less than relevant, it is a waste of time. Not even apples to oranges more like apples to drywall! I will for sure say NY has room to improve but you are missing the fact it is already improving and quite rapidly!! Look at the stats the past 10 years! This is in areas without ars too. You also miss the real problems. NY deer management is becoming more controlled by politicians than biologists, NY does not put enough cash into DEC, we are always short staffed in officers, biologists and day to day DEC staff. Your stance NY is the worst is ludicrous. Just because you find it on the internet don’t mean it’s true! I tell my kids that constantly!! Try VT, ME, NH, FL,AZ, NM, CA, CT, MA, DE.......for whitetail or a number of other states that might or might not match up with an individuals requirements. You two have the personal opinion and that’s cool. I think it’s ok and getting better. The hunting not NY lol. Oh and to the original ?, I think bow should end say 5 days earlier and gun start 5 days later. That will give a 10 day cool off during rut and before gun. Except in overpopulated zones. Maybe keep doe open in those and it will bring in folks from non open zones to help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

10/15 pm 46 Out back in the far stand for 1.5 hours. Had to give it a whirl. Nadda. Two more days. I'll do a morning sit tomorrow in the rain and I am off all day Friday. Still not sure what the plan is for Saturday. The high water still and the rain wind forecast is playing a role.
