  1. I can tell you now with 60 pounds of venison in the freezer my finger isn't as itchy. But if it was empty..... dead 7 pointer lol Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sitting here having a brain fart. Thinking man I really should have put that double stand I have new in my shed down where I have my outer hole stand to give my son and I another spot. Not sure why this hits me now when I shoulda done it weeks ago. Guess we will see after first watch if I'm badass enough to get that up by myself and take the single down and haul in and out. 3. Just had a spike ease by behind me about 40 yards. Man I was hoping is was a big doe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Way to go on the tracks!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hey tell your son to quit driving in my yard! Jk I'm on the edge of f Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I can't believe how much noisier it is up top here in my brothers stand. The highway is deafening! My stand down the bottom is way more peaceful!! But the deer been moving up here and he is at work so......and the wind is good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. 32 here as well. Man that moon is bright! Up in stand waiting on the last morning of bow hunting for the season.[emoji22] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. 11/17 pm 54 Out in the tower with my son for 1.5 hours. Nada, the woods have been so quiet last few sits. No wind, no noise.... Off tomorrow to get one last shot at a doe. Maybe cause get my son out in afternoon as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. enewhere your upside down man!! Good luck out there today. I will be headed out in a few with my son trying to get him a crack.
  10. Soper! Looking forward to hearing more. Congrats!!
  11. I wish I liked the rubber boots. They make more sense for odor reduction. I just don't like the no support or feel of them really. That said I have gone through a lot of boots lol. The cheaper hunting boots I usually get 1-2 years outa them. If it is a pair I like I treat them with sno-seal which works well unless you hike a ton in snow. that breaks down the waterproofing abitlity of that product faster. I did go big finally on a pair of American made Danners a year ago and they are a fine pair of boots. They look almost as good as the day I bought them and get comfyer the more I wear them, they were a bit stiff at first. It depends on your style of hunting too. If your feet tend to get cold or not, if you sit mostly or hike a lot.....
  12. 11/16 am 44 Sat 2 hours in my brothers stand up above the hole. Saw one right at sunrise behind me. Looked like a small doe she stayed outa range. At 8:30 I had a buttonn come in by me at 20 yards. He wandered around for a while. It was a nice morning besides the squirrels which were all over. Not much time left of bow.
  13. I will be hunting public land with my 14yo son beside me for his first opener. This will be the first time sitting on this piece for the opener. And while I have scouted and hunted a few spots in here over the last couple of years I do not know it well yet. It is a few thousand acres and from what I am told gets hit pretty hard opening day. We have hunted a different piece of state almost exclusively opening day for the last 30 years minus maybe 4-5 years. The last few years have been a big disappointment and lack of shooting....So trying something new. I brushed in a nice spot with a wild grape backing on a small knoll a ways in. We plan on going in early and sitting as long as he is able or we drop a couple......Good luck to all.
  14. He is a stout boy for sure. I think your on target with 3.5 or 4.5. Not the greatest pic to judge but not a lot of characteristics that would make me put him above 4.5.
  15. I would agree with most above, no such thing and you should not be shooting through the brush.
  16. Public with most likely the 30-30 in my lap and sitting next to me my 14yo son with his 20 gauge. Which gun we use will be up to the moment, distance and opportunity. My BIL will be with his son and my brother so we will have 5 of us. My private spots don't have room for us all and hopefully will produce later if needed.
  17. Right! It's crazy. Mine is a junior and she has been visiting schools for a while now, Boston a few weeks back and this weekend she was down seeing some schools in Florida. She was just a little peanut not long ago, then driving this past summer, now looking at schools..........wowa!
  18. I won't even shoot the 12!! I have a 20 gauge! That makes my shoulder hurt just thinking about it!!
  19. Nope! Not at all. Just old farts who don't adapt well!! jk
  20. From the looks of it in the central part of the state. Saturday morning should be just fine. 40 degrees in the am. The shit weather and rain and wind starts coming in the afternoon, also over 60 degrees. Then overnight rain, the ground will be too warm and wet to hold any snow until maybe Monday night or Tuesday night. Of course this will change 4 times over the next 4 days and possibly still be wrong!!
  21. No thanks!! I'll stick with my 2 3/4 inch Lightfields. They work just fine!! Ouch
  22. This exactly. I do not see the difference. If you took off Monday and Tuesday back then just take Thursday and Friday now!! I actually prefer the Saturday opener. I would not let my son miss two days of school, maybe the opener but not the next day. This way my kid misses no school. I am sure he would prefer to miss school though !
  23. Wow no good deed goes unpunished! I guess you should have walked him to the spot he was supposed to be! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  24. Congrats Grow! I settled too last week and am not at all disappointed!! I hunt for enjoyment and meat first. Tag soup not an option. I bet this deer tastes fantastic. Unlike that swamp bruiser last year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  25. Was just enjoying a cup of hot coffee and had a button come by at 20 yards. Where's mama bud!! Beautiful morning. I like 40ish cold enough but not ball freezing. Really just enjoying one of my last bow hunts before the war starts Sat! Too bad I gotta work in a bit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
