  1. I have not seen the Milwaukee jacket or vest but if you can wear it as an inner layer, i don't see how you could go wrong....
  2. That's a nice deer....and you have said you don't share your good pics.....wow!
  3. I guess that depends on what you are asking....does it drip scent with the daytime heating of the day....Yes...does it get multiply bucks coming in from miles away to scrape away at it.....Not from what i have ever seen with mine...
  4. I have one of those and I wouldn't have ever thought of putting doe estrous in it. I am no expert but I would think the deer would just get used to the smell and stop checking it. The scrape scent is suppose to make multiply bucks check it out and keep checking it for sign of other bucks. I haven't had much luck but I keep trying it...
  5. I have a Cabela's heated vest...I got it a size smaller than I normally wear and put that on over my first base layer. I love it....Battery only lasts two hours on high...that's the only downfall. I got two extra batteries. I have never tried the Milwaukee but I am not sure how good it would work if you had two many layers between you and the jacket.
  6. I never kept the shooting rail down before while bow hunting......First thing I did after putting it up was draw my bow and make sure I could make all the shots. I was surprised, the only way it would affect me was if I had to make a shot at an extreme downward angle....
  7. Do you guys wrap your treestand in that camo wrap. I never have before. Two weeks ago I had a doe staring at me from 10-15yds away and I was still enough that she just went about her business when she decided I was nothing. All of my hunting buddies have been telling me I need to wrap my stand so last week I was in Dicks and walked by the camo wrap and it popped in my head so I picked it up. I washed it in scent free detergent and brought it out with me last weekend along with some zip ties. So now I have a camo "wrap" from one corner, around the bar to the other corner and I really don't like it. It moves in the slightest breeze creating way more movement than I would ever make. I haven't noticed it has drawn attention to me but since I put it up I have hunted, Saturday 10/22 (the day I put it up) 10/23, evening 10/26 and all day 10/30. I feel like the deer are not coming as close now. This could be a total coincidence of course....I just worry about it blowing around so much creating unnecessary movement. Am I overthinking it or should I rip it all off next time I am out there....
  8. I hunted with my Remington 600 Bolt action for quite a few years. It hasn't been out of the gun safe since I got my BAR. If I ever hunt somewhere where a 200 plus yard shot will come into play I will probably take the Remington back out again. The Remington is more accurate. Where I have been hunting the last 10 years...I haven't had a shot farther than 75 yds.
  9. Well my daughters indoor soccer season has started which will put a damper on my Saturday availability going forward unless I miss a game. Sunday 10/30 - Temps were much warmer than I was expecting starting the day at almost 50 degrees. In the stand and set up by 6:30. Ozonics pointed at 2 o'clock with a light steady wind about 5 mph. Exactly the type of wind that if the Ozonics does something it should take care of. I catch movement at about 8:15 and get the Bino's up to make out two doe about 80-100 yds away through the trees. I try watching them but they are tough to find through the timber even with the Bino's and they never came any closer. I am assuming it is the Momma and Fawn I have been seeing on numerous occasions but I can't be sure. About 9 am I catch movement at my 4 o'clock just in time to see a deer coming toward me. I stand, grab my bow as he changes angle to go behind me to my right. I try looking through the bino's and can tell it is a small buck, with its head down but never really get a good look as he moves quickly away. May have been seeking...If so that is the first sign of that I have seen. Around 10 am I catch movement again at my 4 o'clock and see a coyote sneaking in. Much larger than the one I took out on opening weekend. I slowly grab my bow and stand. I draw when he is what I estimate about 30 yds behind a clump of trees. He sticks his head out and just stops. I need another step or two to release an arrow but he is just frozen. Then he just bolt right back the way he came. He never looked my direction and I don't believe he could have smelled me so must have been a 6th sense. That's two coyote encounters this season. I have only ever seen one other coyote on this property and it was a quick glimpse as he came in and my treestand creeked and he was gone. Don't know if it is right place right time or if we have a larger population than normal. None of the other guys have had any sightings that I know of. Left about 11:30 to get some lunch. Back in the stand at 2pm. Started with some light rain showers quickly after even though hourly didn't show rain until 4pm. Sat until dark with no other encounters. I have yet to see a deer on an evening sit this season. Once again I don't believe the Ozonics played any roll with any encounters on this day. Hopefully things will be heating up. Looking forward to carry a crossbow afield for the first time next weekend.
  10. My best friend is type 2....his go too snack is nuts now...peanut...cashews...oh yeah.....and beef jerky
  11. Here is to hoping you get eyes on him and better yet...release an arrow...good luck
  12. Well...I created the thread and it doesn't show at all in my history..hmmm was it all a bad dream?
  13. This election shouldn't even be close. I have said time and time again that Trump is a flawed candidate but Hillary is, was, and always will be a criminal that is out for herself.
  14. Man, no matter how many cookies are available I am always a sucker for the basic chocolate chip. Not too many chips though and the have to be semi sweet... Cookie dough Chocolate chips Bake Can you tell my wife is the one that bakes....
  15. My guess is if that is your hobby then you know a lot about it and continue to learn, try new things, acquire new rifles and calibers, probably get rid of rifles you have tried and aren't fond of, and anybody you run into that knows something about it you pick their brain. I have a friend that is a 1000 yd competition shooter. He owns more rifles and calibers than I can name off the top of my head and every time I talk to him he has another caliber I didn't even know existed. When he goes to the range he is there for the day and only brings 5-7 Rifles. I have many hobbies, Hunting, fishing, shooting, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, boating...I would guess I know more than anyone that doesn't do that particular hobby. If my only hobby was shooting, I would have acquired a lot of knowledge about that particular hobby.
  16. That makes scents....pun intended....
  17. I respectfully disagree with this. Hunters are people and they age and mature. A shot I would take when I was 18 is not a shot I would take now. I am not sure if that is because I have matured or if is because archery hunting has taught me to slow down, take my time and wait for a shot. But either way, I have changed as a hunter and all for the good....
  18. I was just picking on you Grampy!! On a serious note....You have a lot more experience than me...Do you think the evercalm could hurt this time of year? It is the one scent I use everytime....Not to highjack the thread...
  19. Now now....we know your on the evercalm band wagon.......lol
  20. Wednesday 10/26 - Temp about 45 degrees. I took advantage of the fact that I didn't have to get my daughter off the bus today. Blew out of work about 2:25 and was in the tree and set up around 3:15-3:30. I figured with all the wind and rain it would be the perfect afternoon sit. It was much windier than I was expecting and I had the ozonics pointed at 2 o'clock. The wind settled down for magic hour but I didn't see a deer. 4 guys hunted the lease this afternoon. 3 of us saw nothing and one guy saw 8. Much more than his fair share....We are going to have to talk to the deer about spreading the wealth. Once again, My $300 dollar fan did nothing for my hunt.
  21. I am not a very good tracker but doing a grid search isn't that hard...Just time consuming. If you started this morning at say 7:30 and you are posting 10:30 giving up you need to get back out there and look some more. Get some buddies to help you. If the deer is buried under an inch of snow it will look like everything else. I lost a deer once my first year of bow. I was sick over it. I got 8 friends to help me grid search from morning till dark. That was after I called deer search and was told nobody was in my area. I really don't know how we didn't find the deer but I knew I did all we could and I was still sick over it...
  22. You sure wouldn't know it reading the forum.....Everyone only takes perfect shots...nobody makes mistakes, nobody has ever tried something that doesn't work...I don't buy it...I think we could all learn a lot more if everyone was honest.
