I never bring anything to eat or drink....I might steal a candy bar or two out of my daughters bucket after Halloween but that's about it. I need to start rethinking this idea....

I reread the whole thread to find where it said people were scared of the woods. Just like I thought, nobody said that...As a matter a fact people were admitting that the chances of something happening were extremely small although apparently not for you. And yes, I think I should be able to carry a small caliber pistol while I bow hunt. I carry everywhere else so why not? I freely admit I am not Rambo.....although apparently you are so its cool to have you on the forum...

I agree with you, but there are laws against that as well and it doesn't stop people. Laws only affect the people that are willing to abide by them.....Problem is those law abiding citizens, are not the reason you need the law in the first place...That's one of the (MANY) problems with our politicians. Especially the Dems....They make a law that looks great on paper and then sit back and smile...look at me, I did something about such and such. Not every realizing or even considering that the people that will abide by that law were not the problem in the first place. And now the responsible citizens are once again hampered by law such and such and the ones that won't follow it aren't....I think somehow I took us way off topic on this thread.....Sorry

I would like to think that anyone with a CCP permit that is an avid hunter (I would like to think but I am sure it isn't true, unfortunately) wouldn't go taking pop shots in the dark period. I certainly wouldn't...Not only would that be extremely stupid but it would ruin my morning hunt....Even if I had Coyote yipping at me 10 yds away in the dark and I was carrying, you bet that pistol would be in my hand but I wouldn't be taking pop shots into bushes. If it became more than that...I would think a shot fired into the ground or air, whatever you felt was safest would move those dogs out very quickly. I don't see why I can't carry my 380 Body Guard. I am sure that I would be much less effective with that weapon against a deer than I would be with my bow. Or even my .22 pistol. Stupid people making stupid laws.......

Trust me, I have thought about it numerous times but I haven't done it.................yet The day I have coyote yipping at me like some have posted 10 yds away will be the last time I adhere to that law...

I will say this knowing that I probably have a better chance of getting struck by lighting on the way to my stand in the morning than I do getting attacked by a coyote. But to me it is stupid that I carry a side arm everyday but I can't when I go hunting????? Stupid rule....

I had a 05 Silverado...It was a great Truck. When it started to get rust under the doors I decided to trade it in before it looked real bad and nobody would want it. That was a little over two years ago. I traded it on a 13 Silverado that had 9k on it. I regretted it after about a week. The new truck doesn't do anything the old truck didn't except look nicer and it has a large payment. The new truck also seems like it dents when you touch it which is annoying for a truck.

I think that's the right call....be respectful in your letter/email to Matthews.....I am not a big social media guy so I am not sure but I bet my daughter would. I would be willing to bet you could also post your experience on Mathews and that Archery stores Facebook page as well....respectfully of course....

You seem a lot calmer than I would be! I sure wouldn't have settled for store credit on an item that YOU asked about and didn't need and furthermore, didn't want. I would also be sending an email to Mathews. Let them know your experience and how they have a dealer selling their product that has no idea how to set it up. You can let them know that the kid was helpful etc but that BS. That's how I would expect my bow to be setup at Dicks when some kid does it. I purchased my bow, A Bowtech Assassin, certainly not top of the line about 4 years ago. When I go to the shop I purchased it from, I get my arrows refletched, my bow looked over, they let me use the range and check the draw length etc and they don't charge me a penny. I certainly wouldn't be looking to not hurt them by not calling them out on here....

How do I change the setting so I don't open my email and 300 emails from Hunting NY saying so and so replied to whatever topic. I don't mind getting one email, but I don't need 30 on the same thread. I have looked and can't find my settings...

There is only one choice for president as far as I am concerned. We have the most corrupt person to ever being in politics...a confirmed liar, cheater and criminal and on the other side we have an I have no idea, who has never been in politics so is feeling his way and doing some stupid things. I will take the I have no idea and has never been in politics and not think twice about it....

Isn't that the truth! We have deer all over our lease on camera that non of us ever see in the stand!

That 8 would go down the first chance I had and I wouldn't have a second thought about it everytime I looked at him on my wall. But that's me...everyone is different....

This is like beating a dead horse you have heard it so many times now but I agree with everyone else. You shouldn't be using that bow. Is less than $100 worth your site or at the very least getting whipped by your stiring while you are 15+ feet in the air? Your choices are, new bow or new cables....Not should I hunt with this or not...

Wow Grampy....I felt sick to my stomach reading that...Like on of those I survived articles. Thank god you were able to get phone reception. Heal up quick so you can get back out there!!! Do you have to do anything for your fractured back? That doesn't sound very good...

I did for a few minutes but it was kind of a misty day and didn't want to get the unit wet. I really didn't feel like it made much of a difference. I should have put that in the review...I will try again that again on a dry day...

So while I was sitting in my treestand this past weekend wondering if my Ozonics was doing anything to help me or hurt me I decided I would log all of my hunts and try and draw conclusions. It should help me decide if this purchase was worth the money and if anyone else is thinking about the purchase it should help them as well. Due to work and other obligations I am generally only able to hunt weekends (mostly Sunday mornings) so this will only be updated about once a week. Saturday Morning (10/1) I got to my treestand early, about 5:45. I wanted to set up my tree umbrella and the ozonics before first light. I got everything set up and turned the ozonics on....The ozonics was LOUD....it sounded like a drone flying over my head in the silent dark woods. I seriously thought about shutting it off but I decided I am going to give it a go. There was virtually no wind and the air was thick and heavy after a rain. Temp about 48 degrees. As soon as I could see a little bit I checked the wind and got the ozonics pointed in the right direction. I noticed if I moved my head just slightly away from directly underneath it, it was much quieter. Once the woods "woke up" I really didn't notice the noise of the ozonics very much. The noise it made that I kept thinking it sounded like was if you had a propane torch lit and just sitting there. Like a white noise. After a while I think my brain just ignored the noise...I didn't feel like it impacted my ability to hear the chipmunks and squirrels that still sounded as if a heard of deer were coming through. I still had squirrels running up and down the tree I was in, didn't seem like they noticed. At about 10am with no deer sightings I started to wonder if the ozonics was hurting me, but nobody else that was hunting was seeing anything either. Climbed down at Noon to get lunch and was back in the saddle with the ozonics running by 2pm. I should mention after reading the directions the battery that came with the unit said it only lasts 4 hours on treestand mode. That is almost useless to me since I almost always sit until at least noon so I purchased an extended life battery that is suppost to last at least 8-10 hours in treestand mode. I sat from 2pm until dark. The ozonics ran the whole day on the XL battery so I didn't need to use the one that came with it. No deer sightings this day. Two of the 6 others hunting had deer encounters. Sunday Morning (10/2) I got to my treestand about the same time as Saturday and got setup. Again the ozonics seemed loud until I got used to the noise. Wind was again very very light and seemed to be swirling. Temp about 51 degrees and again the air was think and heavy. At about 9 am I catch movement off to my right side (about 2 o'clock) Ozonics pointed about 4 O'clock and to my right with the very light almost no wind. I watch a fat Momma and her baby slowly feed toward me. I grab my bow and stand to get in position and wait. They are about 45 yds away. They feed toward me and look as if they are going to pass on my right. I decide I don't need a deer bad enough to shoot a momma with her baby and put my bow back on the hook and observe. The fawn feeds within 15-20 yds of me with momma following behind. The encounter lasts about 15 minutes as they feed from my right in front of me to my right in back of me. I am assuming they had to smell the ozone but I don't know. Wind was very light from my checking the wind it almost seemed like my scent would be rising but I don't know how that works exactly. They fed off without hearing the fan or alerting to my scent although I feel that is inconclusive with the conditions. About 10am I hear a commotion behind me and look to see several turkey running every which way. Some starting to fly. As all the turkeys but one have taken off I notice a coyote is stalking the last bird. As it flies off I wonder if the coyote is going to give me a shot and I grab my bow. He gives me a broadside shot at what I estimate is 35 yds. I aim a little high with my single pin site and drill him right in the side and roll him over. I was actually a little surprised I hit him and then I was mad at myself for even taking the shot. That was a shot I would not have taken on a deer (to far out of my range) so I should treat other animals with the same respect. I climbed down to finish him off since he was rolling around biting at the arrow. (he destroyed my arrow and I couldn't find my broadhead) I did find my lighted nock laying on the ground. I packed up after that and went home in time for my daughters soccer game. First weekend conclusions. For anyone that is concerned about the health of having an ozone generator operating above their head, I don't see this as a concern. Maybe 5 times through the whole weekend I caught a wiff of ozone when the wind swirled. If you are using it correctly and it is pointed down wind you should never notice the ozone. The fan seems loud but you get used to it and are able to ignore it. It doesn't seem to hurt my ability to hear game. I had deer as close as 15 yds and they didn't seem to be able to hear the fan. I have no idea if it helped with my scent or hurt. I am not sure how I am going to prove that. I think I am going to pick up some "floaters" wind checkers so if I do have deer around me I decide I am not going to shoot I can check the wind and see if I can tell for sure if the deer cross my scent path. Otherwise I am afraid I will have to end every post with inconclusive as I am ending this one.

Where abouts Buckmaster? I live off of Geyser Rd....

I will take a scope over iron sights any time...only question is what power I want...
