    PA trip

    Really Awesome! Thanks for sharing!
  2. When i started hunting 30 years ago it was shotgun only. I haven't had my slug gun out since the rules changed 20+ years ago and i hope i never have too....
  3. Happy Birthday! May a big buck brighten your day!
  4. I hunt in 4k and was feeling like it was the worst year ever. I don't keep track of my sits (i should) but i had lots of sits with no deer. My hunting buddies were feeling the same way. Very few deer seen and very few pictures on cams. I haven't gotten a deer pic on cam in over a week. Then Saturday i had 1 hot doe run in and less than 5 minutes later had the 9pt on the ground. He was never on any of our camera's. Just another reminder that it can all change in a second.
  5. Hope your effort pays off for you! Those deer will have to be swimming....
  6. And that concludes my bow season. Awesome day yesterday, zip today. Back at it Saturday with the rifle and a fresh buck tag.
  7. Been in since two. I was figuring it see the biggest buck ever since I don't have a tag. Nothing but squirrel so far.
  8. Met 2 hunting buddies at Dunkin at 5am. We decided we were going to hunt close and hopefully lay something down. So we went to the lease and sat 3 fairly close stands. I was on the powerline stand with my back to the powerline facing the woods. Saw a decent buck way early far down the cut. About 8:30 I had a buck over my right shoulder at 15 yds or less, never heard him. I thought it was the 4pt I had seen before so I grabbed my phone to take some pics and as he came around the tree I realized it was a 4x2 and decided I wanted to shoot so I stashed the phone grabbed the crossbow and as I did it made a noise and he trotted about 20 yds up the powerline and he walked directly away from me only offering a rear shot that I wasn't going to take. A while later I saw the 4pt and let him walk. At 10 am my hunting buddy texts that he is going to walk the stone wall and head to the trucks. He calls a short time later that he fell over a log and he is in bad shape. Takes me and my other buddy almost 2 hours to get him out of the woods. He is in agony, the whole time. Not sure if he broke his hip or dislocated it, still waiting to hear but we got him home so his wife could get him to the hospital. So we finally get back to the lease about 1 and it starts raining. My other buddy and I are deciding what to do and worried about our friend. The rain stops so we head to stands. I went to the one my buddy was sitting in. Just as I climb up it starts pouring. I'm not even settled in and a doe comes and lays down 10 yds from me and keeps looking where she came from. I notice two other deer, 1 is a spike chasing another doe all over. My buddy texts me I'm getting soaked and I say me too but I think I got a hot doe. A few minutes later I see the this deer come up the ravine to my right and I can immediately tell he is a shooter. I stand grab the cross bow and he comes up 30 yds from me but I never have a clear shot. He goes behind me and comes back down the other side even closer. I'm shaking so hard I keep telling myself to pull it together. Move the HHA to 20 yds, wait for an open lane and zipped him with a true glow titanium 4 blade. He stands there for a 2nd. Stumbles and falls even closer to me. By far my biggest archery deer and first with my Scorpyd Aculeus. The Scorpyd layed the crackdown on him! 9 pt no brows...sorry for the long story, it was thundering and lighting when dragging him out.
  9. Thanks everyone, I'll put the story in the harvest thread. By far my biggest crossbow or archery deer. 9pt no brow tines
  10. Well, I just blew it on a 2×4. I am sitting facing woods with my back to a Power line. A buck appears over my right shoulder, never heard him at all. I think it's the fork horn I took pics of the other day. So I grab my phone and turn to take his picture as he comes around the tree and as he comes into view I realize he is a 4 x2 so I stash the phone grab the crossbow and it makes a noise as maneuver for a shot which makes him trot about 20 yds. Only shot he gave me was a Texas heart shot and I wasn't taking that. Hopefully I'll see him again.
  11. Happy Birthday! Hope you have a great day!
  12. Oh man, So sorry for your loss. Its amazing how a dog works their way into our hearts..
  13. It will never happen but several people should be in jail for that....
  14. Been in since 5:45. 3 came through before legal. Too dark to tell what they were.
  15. Well, that coughing fit probably didn't help things. Stupid covid
  16. I'm in. Went right to their bedroom this morning. Hope thermals are in my favor. Got two different bucks in daylight I would shoot the past 3 days on the trail I cut to this stand. Clear and 28 degrees
  17. That's what I get for being behind on the forum....good luck!
  18. Thanks for the reminder once again...still catching up on the forum for the week. I'll pick @wolc123 getting it done with the crossbow
  19. I carry way to much crap to the stand and having everything in arms reach has been a problem for me forever. A couple weeks ago I was thinking someone should make something that goes over the shooting rail where I can keep all my stuff. Then I was thinking I should make something....lol Well after tons of searching, I found this and it's even camo. It's for bedside storage but my first time using it this morning and it's great!
  20. Fresh off the covid reserve list. Been in the stand since 5:45. Crisp frosty morning. Good luck everyone. I got alot of catching up to do on the forum
