  1. I thought this might be useful to some. Quick and informative. http://news.mayomedicallaboratories.com/ticks/?utm_source=newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=housecall&xid=nl_MayoClinicHousecall_20150723
  2. I picked raspberries from some vines in my backyard, very good crop this year.Went to a farmer's market Sat., a woman selling blueberries said they started picking last Thurs.
  3. Thank you very much Wooly ! I did try and stay screened behind some bushes and my Olympus camera has a 30x zoom so that helps too.The deer around here are not that afraid but they will only let people get so close before moving away.I don't bother them much because I don't want them to run across the street and risk getting hit by a speeding car.
  4. So after getting these 2 fawns on camera a few days ago there were 2 other fawns with mom walking in another neighbor's backyard.Them deer been busy.
  5. If memory serves isn't it Paula's birthday today ? Have a good day !
  6. My daughter has a horse that she rides all the time so for me I would have to be very hungry to eat horse meat. What other people eat is up to them.
  7. Those are the only ones I know about. These proposals already passed the N.Y. Senate, now it is up to the N.Y. Assembly. 76 yes votes out of 150 are needed. His Highness can still veto the Bill if it reaches him I was told. All we can do is try.
  8. Click the link at bottom of my post. The subjects are passing firearms down to family members and parts of the mental health laws under the Safe Act.
  9. Contact your representative in the N.Y. Assembly and tell them to please pass proposal A.8196. This proposal would repeal several parts of the Safe Act . https://legiscan.com/NY/bill/A08196/2015
  10. I always wear my backtag on jacket or orange vest. Most of my jackets have a loop or gromets. If the DEC says you don't need it then so be it however I think it would make some people feel they don't need to buy a license or they will take there chances anyways.
  11. Very intelligent young lady your friend has there. She narrates excellently.
  12. Can anyone explain how the hunters reporting percentage is calculated ?
  13. I was talking to a guy last month that said he wasn't feeling well, went to his Dr. and the Dr. asked him "how long have you had Lyme disease ?" The guy didn't know he had Lyme disease, he bowhunts his property and figures that must be where he got bit.Mentioned something about being bit on his head under hair and not realizing it.I believe he was going in for treatment shortly after our conversation.
  14. I was hoping the long cold winter killed some ticks off but maybe not.
  15. I am glad to read about the large flocks some of you are seeing.Myself I have not heard a gobbler the last 2 spring seasons.I read that turkey numbers were down nationally.I did see a few last bow season and saw tracks in snow during regular deer season.I saw a flock (20 ?) in Wayne Co. last weekend.
  16. That is awful, I hunt near there sometimes. I have to wonder if they were shooting at eyes in the dark ? No explanation will be a good one.
  17. If I can think of anyone I will let them know and contact you.
  18. Like b3h posted there are so many 24 hr bugs going around I think it is hard to say it was food poisoning although it is possible. I had a 12 hr. joints aching, head throbbing illness a few weeks ago.Stomach was fine though. Some people are affected by nitrates/nitrites in cured meats not sure if that would cause stomach problems though It can cause irregularity (keepin it clean here).
  19. What a unique gift they look fantastic. I used my father's L66 that is about 60 years old this year to field dress a couple of deer. I have to remember to keep it oiled so that it doesn't get any rust spots on it. I love classic American hunting knives. There used to be so many cutlery companies in and around N.Y. State.Nice to see your post.
  20. http://www.archerytrade.org/news/taya-kyle-real-life-american-sniper-wife-promotes-outdoor-sports-to-help-mi Short article I found interesting.
  21. Saw American Sniper today, very intense. No one wins in war. I liked the Bowtech hat worn in the movie. Very sad real life pictures at the end.
  22. O.K. wasn't trying to tick you off just hard to understand that happening.
