  1. CA is a hotbed of cheats and scammers. I deal in rare and antique coins on ebay, The only hassles I've had whether buyer or seller over the years have been from CA residents. I've gone so far as to exclude them in my notes, "I will not ship to foreign countries or California". It's simply not worth the hassle.
  2. This guys' name wouldn't be Gavin Newsome by any chance. ;-}
  3. Welcome aboard Roe. You'll learn a lot on this site. There are some very serious and helpful hunters here. Best of luck to you!
  4. I've tried that several times, Fletch. Most often I lose the entire post, although I save them to the notebook so that I can re-post rather than re-create the post. It's not a big deal but it is annoying, and I would think it should be fixable.
  5. I don't like to participate in the 'blame game' because this is a great site, but the inability to post or 'like' is becoming increasingly annoying, and something has to be done about it. I hope this posts, because my last three have failed.
  6. In my experience the deer will continue to use areas familiar to them, right up to the point where there is a serious and ongoing disruption such as housing development or clear-cutting, loss of food sources or security areas. They're creatures of habit rather than logic, and they tend to adapt to changes in their environment rather than flee. Adult bucks are a bit more finicky because they are very solitary during our hunting seasons, but even they won't entirely abandon an area due to hunting pressure. They'll mostly become nocturnal.

  8. I hate crowds, but it sounds like people were having a good time. Being a musician I have to ask, how was the band?
  9. I forgot to mention the Fraternal Order of Police as well. I just love it when a plan comes together: Screw the Globalists, we have a country to save.
  10. I worked for a company called Portable Schools out of Webster in the early 1980's. These were relocatable 'temporary' classroom buildings, essentially double-wides, and we worked all over the state doing the installations. We had some pretty high-tech equipment when it came to jacks and stuff, and we were able to get the jobs done quickly and efficiently. I don't personally know of any companies currently doing this type of work, but I'm pretty sure they're out there. My point is, don't narrowly confine your search to just local contractors. There might be someone 200 or 300 miles away that has the specialized equipment and expertise to ensure quality work at a fair price regardless of the travel involved. Best of luck to you.
  11. I'd rather forget my knife than my tree umbrella if there's going to be a drizzle. I can always go back to the truck for the knife.
  12. Welcome aboard! I can't help you with recommendations in your area, but the handbook that comes with your hunting license has maps that show state lands that are accessible, and usually phone numbers so that you can get more detailed info. Best of luck to you.
  13. A light rain or drizzle makes for excellent still-hunting as it tends to wash your scent to the ground and also covers small noises that you might make. Staying dry is a matter of selecting good gear. Overall, I'll take damp and soggy over a forest floor covered in crunchy cornflake leaves any day.
  14. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/09/26/stunningly-brave-u-s-immigration-and-customs-enforcement-ice-union-endorses-donald-trump/#more-122268 This is a huge endorsement for Mr.Trump, on top of the Border Patrol endorsement earlier this year. Even better, it's a total slap in the face to both Obama and Clinton that their precious Federal employees would so overwhelmingly reject them and their policies. A heartfelt thank-you to these courageous men and women.
  15. Excellent advice, Rattler! Unfortunately many people have been indoctrinated to believe that cops are inherently evil, and are therefore due no respect whatsoever. Our own Uptown Trashneck is a prime example of that thinking. It's an unwarranted, ridiculous, and dangerous assumption, IMHO. Many of the local cops are my neighbors and my friends. We trust each other, and I wouldn't have it any other way.
  16. Clinton wrote the book, "It Takes a Village" (to raise a child). While left unsaid, her basic reasoning is that the 'village' will necessarily need a leader. This is the leading role in which she sees herself.
  17. That was my post, Core. And you're right, it was not a single year reduction but in fact occurred during Giuliani's first term as mayor between 1994 and 1998. It also followed a fairly steady decline that happened under Mayor Dingens using the same strategy of "broken windows" and stop &frisk. My apologies for the misrepresentation of the facts.
  18. Watch closely what the media has to say tomorrow about the debate: If Clinton does poorly the debate will be called 'meaningless' and irrelevant, but if Clinton does well the event will be considered the single most important thing in this election. Watch for it!
  19. Uhhh...Bloomberg is not the mayor of NYC. De Blasio is. Carry on. Stop and frisk was implemented under mayor Rudy Giuliani and along with the "broken windows" policy resulted in a one year reduction in homicide fatalities in the city from 2500 to 500. Those policies worked at a time when the city was desperate for a solution. It could work in Chicago and elsewhere as well if those places had any real leadership.
  20. This is basically a declaration from the Democrat presidential candidate that the U.S. should cede it's national sovereignty. She would throw open our doors to any and all of the world's 7 billion inhabitants who are able to afford the plane or boat ride. It's the scariest thing I've ever heard from anyone, let alone a presidential candidate. Vote wisely, folks! http://www.breitbart.com/2016-presidential-race/2016/09/24/jeff-sessions-pushes-back-clintons-radical-suggestion-global-right-immigrate/
  21. It's important to keep in mind exactly what's behind the whole, "cops are bad" narrative. The police are local, not federal. They're responsive, for the most part, to the needs of the people they directly serve. This doesn't sit well with those who think that the federal government knows best when it comes to... well, everything.
  22. My big ugly beard keeps people from looking at my ugly face. It also provides the perfect Columbo setup if someone should suspect me of being dumber than they are while they begin to poke fun. I keep it pretty well trimmed when it's hot out, but it's an excellent neck-warmer when it's cold.
  23. As others have hinted at here, I personally wouldn't trust it. The stove itself is generally the least expensive part of a woodburning setup anyway, and it's not worth the risk.
  24. Donald Trump is living rent-free in a lot of Liberal heads these days.
  25. Sounds, and looks, like you guys had a terrific and tasty day. Thanks for sharing.
