Has anyone else here ever been involved in a poll? I never have....... I often wonder if they conduct them at or around colleges, which are many times liberal areas. Don't forget Astorino was ~30 points down in the polls when bidding for his current position. Get out and vote people! If safe act pt 2 comes, I will have to begin the leaving process. One of the reasons I have held off buying more land in NY...

Safe act part 2

Glad I'm seeing more Astorino signs than cuomo signs both upstate and on the island! -
I was on 87 yesterday (I think around Kingston... could be wrong. I was sleeping and just woke up while my father was driving). Ahead in the road was a dead deer, (probably a doe... it was pretty wrecked) that had been flattened pretty good with no blood or guts. This deer was clearly gutted & must have fallen off of someones vehicle. Anyone here missing a deer?

Ran into Henrik Lundqvist the other day!

Your a lucky dude! I saw Boyle and Richards in Montreal 2 years ago. Also saw Torts at a bowling alley before he got the boot but none of that comes close to your encounter with the King! I love it when they talk shop with you like you are practicing together or something! The only former Ranger I have met that wasn't cool was Carcillo. A little stuck up for a man with such low ice time IMO... Enough about my experiences, CONGRATS ON MEETING THE KING DUDE! With that said, all of your luck has been used up and you will probably only see button bucks and small does from the stand... -

The article is correct on the specific content in which it explores. It talks solely about the green house gas emissions. If you burn a therm (1000,000 Btu) of natural gas and one therms worth of #6, #4, #2 oil, or coal (the fuels natural gas is replacing), you would have less green house gas (co2 & co2e) emissions than if you burnt those other fuels. That's easy to illustrate mathematically. In all reality they could replace the article with a simple excel chart... What the article doesn't touch on, and the reason for the controversy, is the method in which the natural gas is obtained. The method is dangerous and the fluids used (last I have heard) are not yet vetted. Last conference I attended on the topic there was a presenter talking about the fracking and the fluid being used was "proprietary", therefor they would not disclose all ingredients. Hydraulic fracking also raises another eyebrow because of the pressure in which the fluid is pumped deep underground. When doing this, you are messing with very old geologic formations that are unpredictable. What happens when something geologic related moves due to delta P (change in pressure)? You can't simply send a crew down there to remedy the problem. Then we have this mystery fluid down there, near water sources... Even if just the natural gas gets in the water, you have just introduced hydrocarbons to the water... I wouldn't want to drink that and doubt you would either. Nice article but...only half the story.

Morals/ ethics question: Does with fawns
NeverSeenNorHeard replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
Wow! Do you do deer butchering? -
Who knows, maybe those hunters are on the forum and are seeing this thread. This may be enough to put a little scare in them. If they are in fact leo, I'm sure they wont want any problems... Environmental crimes are serious.

I shoot does - a few a year... My does come from corn rye and alfalfa fields. These were does many miles from the nearest said farm. Does are meat for my family, we prefer farm-fed deer meat. Both my hunting partner and I had plans for the evening with our lady's. We made an agreement on the walk in. Only bucks - large 6's & bigger.

Morals/ ethics question: Does with fawns
NeverSeenNorHeard replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in Deer Hunting
A place like 1C, where local govt's pay sharpshooters to thin the herd it would be beneficial to kill any doe... In places like this, it then becomes a question of human ethics. If I don't shoot this doe, will it be the one that accidentally jumps on the road and causes another possibly fatal accident... Many sides of the coin. In other areas whit low deer populations I would let it walk... Areas I hunt with a 10:1 doe to buck ratio, I would hammer it! All depends on the area for me. -
Had a late afternoon sit yesterday on some public land. I had a half day of work so I figured I would spend it the most productive way possible... Once in the tree, I saw a doe in the distance. just before 5:30 PM, I had a four pointer come in and do some investigating. I set above a scrape and he went to check it out. I don't think it was his. He then walked to a downed tree and did some licking on the tallest branch he could reach. He then exited. (Didn't draw on him because its way to early to shoot a four pointer, for me anyways). Five minutes later, he returned with a lady friend. Then a minute later, a spike showed up with another lady friend. They all wandered around my tree several times. Then, three more does showed up. They kept looking in one direction every few minutes. I waited and waited, hoping a larger buck was going to show up. This parade of feeding and foraging went on for over 30 minutes. So here I am with 7 deer I don't want to shoot. I didn't want to spook them and then throw off any larger buck on his way to the party so I just sat and waited. With ~10 minutes to the end of hunting time is when it got complicated. I decided to try to get up and faux-draw on the four pointer. I did this as a test to see if I could get up and draw without any of the 7 deer noticing me. Luckily, I was successful! It many small movements - almost felt like I was doing the 80's robot dance move in extreme slow motion. I then sat back town and decided to do a noise test. I tried to sniffle (one thing most hunters do in the cold weather). I sniffled at 1/3rd my normal volume and three heads popped up staring directly at me. I sat still in the staring contest for what felt like 1.5 minutes. Then, they lost interest and continued to feed. Five minutes later, they then slowly walked away. Good sit, just no shooters for me...

I would also put a cam where the drive in access is. Maybe you can get a plate number when they drive in...

NY #1 in worst state to deer hunt in

On one hand, I think the articles author is a complete idiot. On the other, I'm glad because it will keep people from hunting NY haha! -

Good news guys, just got in from my main stand in the back 40. The bow & arrows still work as they did when I put them away. Alright, I'm sorry... I'm done breaking chops... BTW, I marked some trees at known distances so I did my due-diligence

At what point do you say "NO" to work?
NeverSeenNorHeard replied to burmjohn's topic in General Chit Chat
I don't connect my work e-mail to my phone. If someone calls I usually let it go to vm and then listen. If its an emergency I will get back to them. If not, I will text that I'm busy or out of town. I blame everything on hunting, fishing or being drunk! Since I have worked out of the country and with people from other areas, mainly Europe, I have come to a disturbing conclusion. People in the US, including myself, have been conditioned to be afraid of being out sick, or even worse, nervous to use all your paid time off! People from other countries take, or go on "Holiday", some for an entire month! Think about it if you don't use your vacation pay or personal days you are technically paying to work... -
Good thing I stumbled upon this thread again today. I'm gonna get the bow out from the man cave and start practicing...
