Here's a first for me. I got this pic last night taken just after dark. It appears to me that that is an arrow sticking out of his left shoulder. This spot borders some town property a few hundred yards away.

The cold weather takes it's toll on the batteries. Keep it in an inside pocket so it will stay warm. You still may need a new battery, but it will help. Also do like others recommended and get a portable charger. You can get them pretty cheap.

Hunt on the ground or still hunt. The rut is on and the bucks will be on their feet. I've taken a couple on very windy days from the ground.

Woke up to having no power. Got the generator going for the essentials. Finally had a chance to check my phone for pics and had one of the good ones come by last night during the rain.

I was in a small corridor myself. However the rain held out until almost 5. Then the wind picked up and it really started to come down. That's when I decided to call it. If the wind hadn't picked up, I would've stayed. I did see 4 does and one small buck. On my way home, there were deer everywhere, even with the heavy rain.

Classic! Love that movie. With that in mind, I snuck back out as it has stopped for now. Not forecasted to come down heavy again until about 6 here. I have my umbrella up just in case. Hopefully I'll make it until dark. And they are moving.

I'm out. Warm and looking like light rain for the am with the heavy stuff later today. Big boys are chasing and you can't kill them from the couch.

64 and se@8 here in 1c. I'm in the same spot where I saw one of the big ones chasing last night. Also got a pic of another hit lister a few hours ago. They're calling for light showers this am before the wind picks up and downpours later today. Going to stick it out for a bit.

So for the morning hunt I saw a spike, 4,6, and the ying yang 8. No chasing or seeking, just feeding on their way to bed. I decided to get some things done around the house and pass on the evening hunt. Around 3, i decided to move one of my cams. It is in a steel case lagged to the tree. As I'm in the process of drilling new holes to mount it, a big doe comes running by with her tongue hanging out. Then one of my hit list bucks, an old big 7 comes running by and stops broadside at 20 yds followed by a 4pt. And my bow was in the truck! Oh well. At least it looks like things are getting started. Unfortunately, I probably won't be able to get out until later next week.

That would be my guess. He's got quite the lump going on.

Second time seeing this guy

46* and light south wind here in 1c. I remove the first 5 steps to my portable every time on private property. Someone thought it would be funny to steal the next 4. Luckily I had some extras with me and they didn't mess with my stand. God help them if I catch them. Anyway, good luck to everyone out this morning.

I was in the same boat. I had an 03 cummins that was turned up quite a bit. It had plenty of engine mods, internal and external. Needless to say, I went through my fair share of transmissions. But I loved that truck. It could pull down a house. The wife gave me so much grief over it for years to sell it. I finally did in April and bought a 14 Ram 1500. It is a very nice truck, but it will never be what my 03 was. I don't tow much anymore, but I still miss the torque of the diesel. I knew that I'd regret it the day I sold it. Lesson learned...

Long Island buck. Believe it or not, that was the last one here. There are no more big ones left. Only spikes now..,

I haven't seen it in person, but I'm sure the pics don't do it justice. Danny is a stand up guy and I'm sure that was the gross score. I think the length of the G2 and G3's as well as the length of the main beams really help it add up.

They come into estrus like popcorn. You'll get 1 or 2 early, then a few more will go off. Before you know it, they'll be going off like crazy. Then it will taper off as the last couple will pop. There may even be a few that don't pop, but may on the next cycle. With the full moon coming up next week,, I would fully expect the intensity to increase as well.

I give myself a quick spray before going in. Not too crazy. Never had a problem with ticks or chiggers. I don't see why it wouldn't work immediately.

I'm not from Tompkins, but I do make a few trips up there every year. One of my HS buddies from Long Island moved up there about 20 yrs ago. It really is some beautiful country up there.

I have several, but my original Schrade Old Timer gut hook is my favorite.

So I take it you're west of 13? Trumbulls corners? Conn Hill rd? I'm on Cayutaville rd on the north side of Conn Hill.

Ahhh. The East Hill. That brings back very fond memories of a fine looking doe that I met in Chili's one night. She lived up on the East Hill. That night led to many successful annual trips for several years...

I haven't, but my buddy that lives in Enfield has had one in his backyard a few times.
