I agree with you 100%. I'm still shooting a Bowtech Patriot from 2002. it still shoots like the day I bought it and has killed more deer than I can remember. I haven't changed a thing to my setup in years. Fixed blades, aluminum arrows, one pin. It's a simple setup and gets the job done out to 30 yds.

Easton 2315's with feathers and 100 gr bh. I think about 600 gr total. They penetrate very well.

A few years ago when she was the Nassau County DA, she tried to close up a few gun shopsi in the area. IIRC, it worked for a little while until she got into hot water for it. So I finally got around to fletching a couple of arrows using wraps on my shaft. So far so good. I'm going to try a few different wraps and glues to see what works best for me. I must say that the Bitz jig is really a well made tool and I wish that I had bought one years ago.

I try to do a few starting around Halloween. If for some reason I can't sit all day I will do a 3/4 day sit making sure that I'm on point from 10-2. If I'm in from daybreak, I'll stay in until 2pm. If I need to sleep in, I'll make sure I'm in by 10am and sit until dark. some of my best hunts have been between 10-2 when my buddies were out to lunch.

I hunt about 250 acres here on Long Island and about 13,000 acres on state land when I head upstate. I only use 1 climber. It's all about being mobile. Even if I hunt the same area, I'll almost never go up the same tree twice. I will hunt the same area, but I'll go up a different tree. I'd say more than 90-95% of the bucks that I have killed were taken from the first sit in a new tree.

I just got a Spartan Go Cam and I'm very happy with it. It's great to be able to receive pics on my phone in real time. This is going to be a great tool during the rut. I'll be hanging this cam in my favorite tree early in the season and I won't have to spread any scent in the area to check my cam.

I just purchased a Nikon 2x-7x Prostaff for my slug gun. I'll be looking forward to getting it sighted in.

I bought one from Apple for about $40. no complaints here.

I caught this old girl at the end of May laying eggs in a dirt pile at our work yard.

I just checked my cam and guess who came back to finish her thing. She made a new nest and went on her way. I'm going to get one of those tomato cages and put it over her nest to keep her eggs safe from the raccoons.

Last year on July 10th, I spotted this girl in the first pic l in my backyard attempting to lay eggs on my beach. She spotted me and made a hasty retreat back to the water. So to my surprise, I was outside yesterday and once again I spotted another one in the process of digging out a nest for her eggs. Unfortunately she spotted me first and started to bail out and make a run to the water. They really move much faster than the box turtles I usually see. I set up my cam close by. Hopefully she comes back to finish up. The second pic is from yesterday. I just thought it was pretty cool to see I did some research and found out that they are endangered in Rhode Island and considered threatened in some other areas. They are also the only turtle that will inhabit salt and brackish water.

Id say that they must be expanding their range. They never use to be here on eastern Long Island. Now I see them daily.

If you go on google earth, there is a timeline with dates that you can scroll through to see different images over a period of time.

Looks like you had a good time. It's too bad though that the striped bass fishery is in such bad shape right now. In my eyes the Chesapeake fishery has all but collapsed. Thankfully the Hudson fish are still doing ok. Please practice catch and release so that one day our kids can catch some as well. It would be great to have them return to the numbers that we had in the 90's.
