  1. I only do phone calls, no texting or email. That way I can talk with the person and be able to feel them out and answer questions easily. If I'm buying off of CL, I will only respond to adds with phone numbers. I usually am using my phone if I'm searching for something during the day. It is much easier to dial a # than it is to write an email and sometimes wait a day or two for a response.
  2. I was told years ago that they were brought in for what used to be a private hunting club that is now Southaven County Park. I also heard from the same guy that they taste like crap.
  3. Do you know what town was denied the use of the 4 post feeding station? I know that they are still used down here on Long Island as well as Shelter Island. As far as ticks go here on Long Island, I have seen a big increase in the Lone Star tick here. Not good at all.
  4. The only hunting during the spring on the island is during the youth weekend.
  5. If you're up for a road trip, the Lady Frances fleet in Pt Judith RI does squid trips. You'll probably have much better luck getting on a boat.
  6. I just bought a 2014 Ram Sport with 25k miles. I've only had it a week. I don't have much to add, but I love it so far. I also got the lifetime max care bumper to bumper. Well worth the money. These trucks are going to cost a fortune to fix down the road with all of these electric motors controlling everything. Sure is nothing like my 03, and I've put plenty of money into that truck over the last 14 years.
  7. I don't. I use them for fluke bait. But, yes you can eat them. You can't get calimari any fresher. It seems like once the blues show up, it's all over, where I go anyway. I do know of one spot on the south fork where they can be caught all summer.
  8. The squid run the last few years hasn't materialized like it used to. Find deep water, use squid jigs and spot lights.
  9. They are very plentiful down here on the island. Last year on my creek, I counted more than 20 pairs nesting. I have also caught a few trout over the years with claw marks in them.
  10. I've never used them, and have no plans to. I believe in the K.I.S.S. method. Keep it simple and one less thing to go wrong when the buck of a lifetime comes in. Even if there was a 1% failure rate, that would be unacceptable in my book.
  11. I've been using this for over 25 years. No problems or complaints at all. I even modified mine to work with the d-loop by grinding one side down so it hooks onto the loop.
  12. We're getting thunder snow now.
  13. Are you originally from Long Island or did your sister move down here?
  14. I'm not sure if this was in the news, but for the last 3 months that Obummer was in office, anyone illegals caught crossing the border with a child were allowed to stay. If they were caught, they have to wear an ankle bracelet monitoring device and were released. If they didn't have a child with them, they were sent back. I'm sure that there were many caught, but I wonder just how many made it through without being caught? From what I understand, once Obummer changed his policy, there was a mass exodus across the border as the illegals knew it wasn't going to last once Trump was sworn in.
  15. I love my Impact Archery single pin..you can set it to be vertical or horizontal and it's very bright.
  16. Seeing a buck of this caliber also shows that Long Island deer have the genetics and the nutrition to grow some amazing animals, if they are allowed to make it to maturity...
  17. Congrats to Vincent on a superb whitetail! I would also like to wish him luck with his new career in the USCG. Thanks for your service. Danny from Fish and Wildlife Unlimited does some beautiful work as well.
  18. I wonder how much of the $221m will be donated to the Obummer foundation?
  19. Just last week I saw a buck grunting and chasing a doe. He had already shed both sides.
  20. This buck showed up on cam in my backyard 2 days ago. The left side was busted off as you can see the base still attached. So today I had someone at my house doing some work. He proceeds to tell me how he found an antler that was busted off on the side of the road this week, not far from my house. He obviously was hit by a car and luckily took the hit pretty well.
  21. Its about time we have someone with some balls that's willing to call out the BS media...
  22. This is probably why the MSM won't report anything positive about him. They are still too embarrassed about how wrong they were...
  23. I agree. Does anyone disagree that the spike on his head is a third antler? I've seen pics of bucks having a third beam, but usually they originate right next to one of the other 2 bases.
  24. So this buck showed up this morning during the snow. It's the first time that I've seen him. At first I thought he was injured and had a lopsided rack with a spike on his left side. But the more I look at it, it looks like the spike is coming out of the middle of his forehead and maybe he shed his left antler already. What do you guys think?
