  1. On this one I used a chain and just ine tie down per side. On others i use 2 per side from the 4x4 bracket to the the ground. Zoom in on this picture.
  2. My Browning A5 Wicked Wings shoots great and is a pleasure to carry and swing.
  3. Went out for a wuick hunt this morning. Got out by 6:30 but was a little too late. Big flock of birds were already feeling in a cut hayfield. Managed to kill 7 in just less than an hour. Nothing like cut wheat action but was fun nonetheless.
  4. My blinds are also built in sections. When I get to the location I usually put the base on the ground floir side down...install the posts and cross bracing. Then flip it up...level ...and tether it firmly. Then just carry each wall section up and install. I have whole process down to less than an hour.
  5. Make sure you put plenty of hooks inside to hang stuff. Come in handy.
  6. I only fig enough under a post to level it. I tether it front and back to an anchor in the ground. Mobile home anchors from Lowes. Forget the plywood under the roofing...too heavy. Elevators are same type system to receive the posts. I use strong ratchet ties from each corner to a tie out in the middle sbout 8 feet from the blind.
  7. Bill there are tons of YouTube videos. Soar No More has the best. All you need is a couple mojo pigeons and half dozen fullbody decoys to get started. Find a wheat field and wait till it gets cut. Put your mojos out FACING THE WIND...about 25 yards...full body behind them. I set up around 6:00 a m. Action can start fast and furious. Acoupke miles from a city ir abandoned buildings or bridges are great. Those birds come out in flocks to feed in the morning. Where are you located???
  8. I also put 2x6 pieces between the studs under the window. 2 built in shelves. Less chance to knock stuff off at the wrong time
  9. I made a 2x4 frame the size of the outside perimeter then used corrugated plastic roofing. I am able to carry it up...flop it over...and secure it with gusset plates. I bought 12 foot shhets and cut in half. 2 sheets are perfect. 1 foot overhang all around.
  10. I have built 8 boxblinds now and fount that 33 inchest up is best. However I am 5’ 8” tall so that may vary. I use adjustble swivel office chairs for the perfect hight. Too high is worse than too low in my opinion.
  11. Getting anxious for the pigeon shoots to start. Decoys are all freshened up. Added a couple more mojos...some flappers ....a carousel...and wind socks to the aresenal. Been scouting the wheat fields and they are turning nicely. I am as excited for pigeons as I used to be for deer season. Its become a bit of a sickness.
  12. I am sorry to hear that. Let him know he is loved but more importantly let him know that are loved by him. Too often we forget to give them the satisfaction of knowing the love they give us.
  13. They are tack drivers for autos. I have 4 BAR's...the 308 is incredibly accurate.
  14. My nephew got a tick bite 2 summers ago. Lyme got him good. He ended up with Bells Palsy for almost a month. Entire face was distorted. Had to turn his head sideways to drip water into his mouth. He truly looked like a monster. Full recovery thank God. Prayers to you
  15. Hopefully a very happy and healthy journey!!!
  16. Great morning yesterday. Several good birds working from 4 different roosts on the same farm. Finally get a big boy to come 600 yards across the meadow to 49 yards and just skirted around us. Wanted nothing to do with the dekes. My nephew and I cracked up at how rude and disrepectful that bird was. I couldn’t go this morning but my nephew did. Same thing; however, the purrs got to him and he shot him at 7 yards.
  17. LOVE the Model 11s. I collect Broening A5’s but own several Midel 11s. My grandfather bought his in 1937 for $85. My 90 yr old Uncle uses it to date. His first and only shotgun. I believe yours is a 11A...safety in front of the trigger. One of Mine has a 32 inch solid rib full choke barrel. Its a tank!!
  18. Yes. We pick them from farm fields before thry are plowed or cut. Pick them before they flower or else they are bitter. Saute with onions, garlic, sslt and pepper. Most amazing greens and side dish to venison and fish.
  19. Wife and I did our first annual Dandelion pick today. Picked 12 big bushels and then ckeaned...washed....blanched...and are draining outside in the garage. Ended up with 26 softball sized batches. One more picking before they flower and we are good for the year. Of course we had to taste test them for dinner just now.
  20. Winchester Silver Tips or Federal Premium. Stopped handloading years ago once I started shooting either of these.
  21. Got 13 today in a WICKED wind. Got there late. If i was earlier I could have probably done very well
  22. The owner is one of my best friends. He is out of town until April 1. He will check his mail a couple times a week and get back to you. The gun shop...rifle range and clays are still open.
  23. Im far from an expert but i do hunt them heavily theclast 8 or so years. Have killed close to 300 this winter. The problem with calling in the woods is that they will remain too high to kill many. I set up in brushy apple thickets snd such for good cover. Put some dekes as high up in the trees as you can. Concealment is foremost. When they come in over that brush they are right in the kill zone. I put one deke on a 15 foot extension pole. Works great!!
