I'm gonna upgrade my kill light for my predator guns, pick up some trapping supplies, replace my bowstring, get new arrows & broadheads Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

So what you're trying to say is that you've been there, done that, seen it all, earned your stripes, hunted these woods while we were all still in diapers? Lol just foolin. It means nothing other than the amount of times you've posted in the forums.Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

I understand your logic, but the OP never specified gun or bow season. My statement was mostly geared towards bow season. I'm not suggesting that you heel-hound a bow shot bear and track it immediately after the shot, but sometimes you have to take a chance if you fear that the meat might spoil. Yes mid November would probably be fine for the meat, but early/mid October might be too warm. Bears don't cool down as fast as deerSent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

If a bear is shot, the #1 priority should be speedy recovery of that animal not shooting more. People who gripe about the flavor of bear meat are probably the guys who didn't cape the bear (or even know how) before hauling it out if the woods. If you can't hang a deer or bear by your self, you better start eating your wheaties! Cooling the meat asap is important both for taste and general food safety. Bear meat can carry trichonosis. Very nice! Your field was most likely a native American hunting camp as their villages and crop fields were normally in river valleys. Are there any small ditches/ponds around? They would often dig small ponds to hold water for them to use while up in the hills. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

I'd shoot, cape, butcher and tan the bear all myself Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

When excavating native American sites I often find burnt wood/charcoal. Do you have a waterway near the field? Do you find FCR(fire cracked rock)? The FCR is usually red in color and is what they lined their firepits/hearths. Can you post a pic of the spear point? Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

My closest spots are within 10 minutes from home and those are usually reserved for after work evening spots. On weekends/days off I can be anywhere in Tioga, Broome, Delaware, Chenango, Tompkins counties. I have public & private hunting spots in each of those counties Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

In my experience, a deer is not all that spooked by a yote or two. A healthy deer would stomp a mudhole in em and walk it dry. Also, yotes will usually lay low til low light if they smell humans in the woods( and they do smell you). Using a Gen 4 nightvision rifle scope while out yote hunting we've watched 3-4 yotes in the same field as 3-4 deer and niether group even cared. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

LOL! The DEC spokeswoman said, "we would see scat & prints". Oh yeah I'm sure they have scat spotters scouring every square foot of the state. Ask yourself this. Does every deer in the state get spotted by a person every year? Can the average person tell the difference between mtn. lion scat and scat from native animals? I'm sure 2 or 3 animals could stay under the radar for quite a while. While unlikely, it's not impossible. How quickly people forget the one that came to NYS from S.Dakota just a year or two ago. Good tip, but I rarely ever need to track! Lol. I use glowsticks alot for catfishing. Dollar store has them all year $1 for a 5pack Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

Welcome to the party! We're all getting antsy over here patiently awaiting bow season. We welcome your input as you have quite a few seasons under your belt. Oh and by the way, you resemble my Dad, minus the shorts! Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

Like what? Money? Yes those millions could allow someone to live quite comfortably, even lavishly, but his mental angiush could have plagued him all his life. We'll never know. What we do know is that there are many "rich" people who can do more and don't. So why single him out? Mr.Williams brought joy to alot of people. To basically say rot in hell is quite low-down. I truly understand your enthusiasm for seeking recognition for American patriots, soldiers, vets & heros as I share in that enthusiasm, but this venue was to pay respect not to disrespect. Yeah hybrids are Tiger Muskies and up until a couple years ago that was all they believed to be in the susky/chenango. Now full strain breeding muskies have taken ahold and they get to trophy size so the DEC increased the minimum size limit. Musky fry has a lower survival rate when northern pike are present because the pike fry hatches first and eats the muskies Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

The spot behind kmart has always been a known spot for muskies, even long before anyone realized we had full strain muskies. The same goes for Rock bottom & goudy station Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

All very good responses! I have given passes to many deer for a wide range of reasons and some have been touched upon in this thread. A true survivor is a survivor in my eyes. It is quite a comforting thought in knowing that old girl or old boy is living out their days in peace and living a deers life. In high pressure areas I often whisper to the deer that they best get the move on. Oh how I enjoy watching a deer outsmart/outwit the modern man with all his fangled gadgets and knowing that I wasn't outsmarted by that deer is just as good as making a harvest. Our neighboring landowner(non hunter) let us post his 80 acres last summer because we were getting tresspassers coming from his land. That is letting the deer feel more comfortable coming in to the 2 acre food plot. We see all age groups from spikes to wide racked 10+. Even a TALL shooter 6 Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

They just caught the Greene Co. murder suspect

I posted this last night literally as it unfolded. By the end of my post the police said the suspect was deceased. It wasn't released that he shot himself til early this morning. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2 -

Nice fish! I wish I had time to try out the musky rod I bought a year ago. I did stop down Saturday evening near confluence park on a whim to catch a few smallies and only got 1. Way too many people on the susky lately. I used to be able to get smallies every other cast on top water during the last 45 minutes of daylight. Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2

WOW! Some dingweeds need to hop down from their high horse! If you were related to the 2 victims in this double homicide you wouldn't be so apt to run your pie hole. Fyi the guy shot himself in the head before the police got to him Sent from my SCH-S720C using Tapatalk 2
