ISO 2015+ yamaha Raptor 700
LET EM GROW replied to Gencountyzeek's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
He is an animal. He started on a honda crf 50 at age 4, and started throwing a KTM 85sx with a clutch around at age 7. He has a need for speed currently, and luckily for us hes a very smart boy. Works on all his stuff himself, tear down and rebuilds. He enjoys blowing things up just to rebuild them to make them bigger and stronger lol. Not my idea of investing money but.. it is his to do what he wants with.. For easter we got him all new riding gear. -
I got my old Exmark Lazer Z out of the shed from camp and sunk a few bucks into to get it running again.. 61" 27hp Kohler, sat for 4 years. did some governor work and replaced carb.. baby fired right up and purred, pulled the PTO and it cuts like brand new still. I got 1/2 way thru the yard and it kicked out a coil Lol. Cant complain ive put 4200 hours on it since 2003. I limped it back and ordered a new coil kit. Went to finish the rest of my yard with my worn out 61" bobcat by ransom and it threw a head gasket as i finished the last couple passes. so that part is on order.. Lol my neighbor cut my hay field this week.. and it hurts watching someone cut your own lawn for you lol..

My wife's uncle has the pioneer 500, and since its a honda id buy one in a heart beat as well.. but as you mentioned after riding it a few times, its quite small.. narrow wheel base and its tight for 2 full grown men. Hes actually selling his since its a tad too small for his liking.. -

Nice rig man! Love those raptors, my buddy has the 660.. My 14 yr old son just traded his 2012 kx 250f for a mint showroom condition 2010 kfz 450r.. Not really a kawasaki fan but its what he wanted so im happy lol I Wish the boy would race, hes damn good, especially for being built like a telephone pole lol. -
Well I have to say, many guys i know hammered birds yesterday! Seemed mainly mid to late morning! Could have fooled me lol
-
If you hunt it, id make it a mid to late morning spot, and sit where you see or hear toms in the mornings..
-
They use them daily, all the birds will, typically in late mornings and into the afternoons. Put a camera on it! I wanted to make a dust bowl or two if i had the time this spring..
-
The main reason why I didnt call in today. Wife said to call in, hunt then hang home with her and the kids.. On a better day that is the game plan.. Use the vaca sparingly but wisely. lol. I like to use them on the cloudy calm days.

Prayers sent.

Bionic’s Food Spice Blends-For Sale.
LET EM GROW replied to Bionic's topic in Non Hunting Items For Sale and Trade
If you have any left, I would gladly take 1 of each sir! but I dont believe I am local to you .. lol -
I agree completely, I mean it was the exact definition of doing homework and sealing the deal really.. but after doing so, I guess the reward didn't feel as well earned for some reason, like most all other birds i've taken. I'm not saying I wouldn't do it again, But I love talking back with the birds. I love fresh wild turkey breast, but Maybe hunting is growing out of my blood compared to years past.. Im not sure. I will most definitely do this for others and youths that need a hand in turkey hunting, and maybe to lay down travel routes for future hunts or something.. It is awesome to see and hear them wake up on the tree limb, fly down and do their thing.. that is a fact!
-
Job well done when that happens. Almost feel like i cheated them lol.

Dang, thats how it always works it seems.. Sorry to hear sir! Birds are so hard to judge. it gets so darn annoying! We sat where we did based on what the bird did the morning before in this same spot. no deeks no calls, just gobbler and chill! Putting them to bed here, is easier since you can basically watch from the rd.. but it also means having to deal with road hunters... in which after my stepson couldn't pull off the a shot on the longbeard i called in to 20 steps early opening AM, we got on another bird the next field over, that road hunters found as well, and were actually parking on roadside to go chase after.. until i got up and ran to their vehicle(a hilarious site) they jumped back in and took off.. 2 road hunter attempts on just opening morning.. It is awesome to get in on roosted Toms, it makes for a beautiful morning no doubt.. We havent done much of it either since most of our property never held roosted birds, they always seemed to be on neighbors. but this is a new lease we had the opportunity to join right close to camp. Harvested that bird and got on another about an hr later at camp while taking pics, got setup and our friend wiffed that one!

It was almost somewhat boring to be honest, i almost feel i've cheated him but.. its probably just me. "Roost" or "put him to bed" I refer to as seeing him go up to the tree, or atleast knowing that core area he is spending the night in.. This allows you to get in closer in the a.m. without spooking him.. We watched him on the limb before his first morning gobbles, watched him fly down and do his dance out into our position.. IT was perfectly executed.. Busting the flock is typically done in fall, you find them, go in and scatter them as bad as you can.. sit right there and try to call them back in after a few minutes.. It can work in spring, i think especially on rainy days when they congregate to open fields..
-
Put him to bed, Snuck in early and to about 80 yards from him in the tree.. We stayed quiet, never made a peep.. and let him do his thing.. Well his thing put him in our laps at 35 yards.. Where my brother sent the tungsten.. Back to the truck by 6am..

Tiller broke(like everything else) so we improvised to get the garden started for the year.. With this stupid virus thing happening I finally instilled into my wife why I have always Want to grow our own foods and in quantity with quality.. She finally understands.. I think lol. MY 14yr step son scratching the soil. Nice black Muck soil in our back yard.

Happy birthday sir!
-
I love that show. lol. I never really noticed the resemblance until you posted this. lol, i literally laughed out loud!
-
Yes, but he didnt stone him, bird dropped got up and ran and a second shot took him. So im thinking he pulled the shot, since it hit him in the back or the red dot got bumped
-
MY boy(stepson) did it again this year.. I think he got excited since his first shot at 30yrds with my tungsten handloads only dropped the bird temporarily and it got back up and ran.. where a 2nd follow up shot finished him.. The kid is a sniper i tell ya.. lol. He was happy but myself and his father, way way more happy lol. Its all about the kids, our next generation conservationists!
