It won't affect the amount of traveling I do for hunting.. but it will affect how much more it will sting financially to do so
-
If you are referring to the 58% in the poll.. I am one of them and not a gun only hunter
-
I think we already have an idea who has little or no knowledge of wildlife management... I think it might be the deer management program leader...
-
I guess your talking about me. If you read the article it makes no mention of hunting illegally after dark or with a shotgun at muzzleloader season. Yes if you click on the link with the story you get the whole picture. I get it after hearing all the facts, 1 year is a bit to lean. Fact is even with the muzzleloader he still would of been shot. The fact is the both were hunting after dark. Would you have a bit more remorse if it was a dad and his 16 year old kid? I think so... BTW I think when you carry a gun in the woods you better have all your facilities in order and know the law. Too often we humans take too much for granted, it could never happen to me, but it does. If it was his 16 year old kid that he shot.. he would have imposed his own lifetime sentence.. a lifetime without his child! I didn't get anywhere in the story that the guy killed was a friend of his.. or just a guy joining in their "poaching" group that evening... I might have missed it though. Doesn't seem to me he had any concern about anyones safety anyway

Hunting after hours, hunting with a shotgun during Muzzleloader only season, not identifying his target...and killing a human being... pretty much open and shut case with a guy getting off easy... he should be doing the sentence he got just for everything leading up to shooting his hunting partner... they should have threw the book at him for the killing.

Now you can make people offers they can't refuse...

And that my friend.. is the rule I hunt by... ya can't kill a deer if yer sittin' home on the couch.
-
Soooo True.. funny, but not funny huh?
-
I feel kinda the same Steve.. but I think that most hunters fit the "hunting fiend whacko" profile... unfortunately.
-
I would agree with that if we're talking about violent criminal activity or murder... but having kids out of wedlock and trying to avoid going to vetnam when a kid is 18 ... isn't the same in my opinion... I'm not talking about negating the past... but maybe reflecting on it and learning from it...making you a much different person than you were then... especially when we're talking about growing from a snot nosed teenager to a responsible adult... I myself am not going to judge a person by what he did when he was a kid... and I would hope that person might give me the same courtesy... If I'm not going to like Ted Nugent... I'm not going to like him for what he does today not 40 years ago.
-
That's gonna leave a mark!!

Not sure we should judge people by what they did when they were 19 years old... 18 if we're talking about one of the children he and his girlfriend (then 17) gave up for adoption... who he recently reunited with. Things change .. people change... that doesn't mean you have to like them or there views... I did a lot of things as a youngster that I'm not proud of, but that's not the person I am today... just sayin'

That's how it always starts. First get the public used to the idea by floating a rumor. When it looks like it is being accepted, start cranking the prices toward the next milestone. The $4.00 /Gal rumor went over well and sure enough ..... here we are .....$4/gal. Works every time. I don't even think they care if the public excepts it any more.. they just do what they want when they want... in DC gas is already $5.. and chicago is well over $4... I think I mentioned last fall that the gas price is the one thing that no politician was looking at when they were trying to figure out what to do with the economy... instead they continued to devalue the dollar which drove up the price of oil and now we will all sit back and watch while the economy takes another nose dive... we'll have to sit and watch because we won't be able to afford to drive anywhere..

I have met him off camera a couple times and he seems like any regular guy to me.. although he definitely has a type A personality.. we talked about fishing mostly (don't ask me why.. we were at a hunting show..lol)... I actually liked him... but I have never been a fan of his music or necessarily his entire position on hunting vs killing... but I do like that he doesn't give a rats ass what the non-hunters think either.
-
His type of music is also not my cup of tea, but from what I have heard and read on the subject, it seems he was a second rate rock star in his hey day, so I can't imagine he is setting the world on fire with his music these days either. I would imagine his music fan base is quite small. You may be right.. but I think 35 million albums sold and voted one of the top 25 solo rock artists would make him a bit better than 2nd rate... and if his fan base is presently quite small.. then I guess we have nothing to worry about with the non-hunters hearing much of what he has to say... I don't know of too many non hunters that follow anything that has to do with hunting anyway... they couldn't care less either
-
I am a fan of Charlies as well, but I never put much faith in the moon phase theory... I'm sure it has some validity and I know Charlie has done a lot of studies concerning it over several years... I just am not convinced that moon phase hunting it is reliable. It is interesting none the less
-
not to put even more of a damper on things... but I heard today that we could be looking at $6 a gallon by the summer
-
You might not have noticed, but I referenced both non and anti hunters in my post...I don't see how anything that Ted said in that video would have turned a non-hunter against hunting... as a matter of fact.. quite the contrary. Maybe some of his other stuff is way over the top... but remember too.. there are many many non-hunters that love Ted for his music. I think MOST non-hunters are never going to be pro or con either way... and the nutty antis will always be nutty... and as long as hunting continues to be the cash cow that it is.. it will be around for far longer than you or I... so again... I personally couldn't care less what the non-hunters think.. just my view on it
-
I couldn't care less what a non-hunter thinks about hunting... what do they even know about hunting that they can have a real opinion on that matters? Non-hunters will see what they want to see.. regardless of what Ted Nugent has to say... or what any of us have to say... for that matter... and the anti-hunter will continue to be against hunting no matter who is speaking for hunters...Not all Ted's views are necessarily mine and I'm not huge fan, but he certainly isn't afraid to stand up for his views.. more than I can say for those who tiptoe on eggshells because of what some non-hunter might think...

I agree... well said

Food plots vs Hunting plots
nyantler replied to G-Man's topic in Land Management, Food Plots and QDM
To attract deer I would think... just because they are nutritional for the deer doesn't mean they aren't an attractant as well..I know that saying that the plots help feed the deer makes everyone feel good about hunting the land they plant ... I'm just saying that they are planted because of hunting so I would consider them hunting plots... -
Our herd? Your herd isn't the same as mine...
