I have no experience with bears but it is just my guess that if a bear did get it, it would drag it to some what dry land. If a bear dragged it out and ate some anything could have happened after that. Another bear or some other predator could have brought it somewhere else. Sorry I can't really help this is just a guess but good luck. If you find it and get to pay respects to the rack its better then nothing!!!

Thanks Rich seems like it worth looking into!!!!

I hope I start seeing more does!!! ??? ??? ??? Isn't usually the other way around LOL!!! I gotta be carefull for what I wish for but all I 've seen is bucks mainly and thats fine to. I would love to take a mature doe but I'm almost afraid to shoot one just because I don't feel that there is that many.

I would say I'm a deer hunter but I'm always trying to upgrade my knowledge of how to bag a buck. I love to fill the freezer and like to take a buck if I can. As for the luck part of it. Some people are lucky and just see more bucks. However you still do have to shoot and kill it. And then recover it. So its not all luck. You still need to know good woodsmanship to collect a deer!!!

I'm just wondering how many does compared to bucks people are seeing. I have only seen about 3 or 4 does this season. And I've seen multiple bucks. I know the rut has got to be going. But I'm a little worried about not seeing a lot of does. Idk maybe the bucks have just been chasing them around? I hunt in 8g. Is anyone around here or anywhere in the state for that matter not seeing a lot of does?

Fantail I'm sorry LOL!!!! It was dark when we found him and all we had were cell phones. I will be able to take a better picture on Sat. The only bad thing is my buddy isn't going to be there because he has to work. I will have to skin and quarter it then to so he won't be in a good picture. ??? ??? ??? Def. was like someone put a paint can on the ground and it was raining out.

Tomorrow might you might actually enjoy getting up for work LOL. Nice deer!!!

I would have to say that it wouldn't matter if you made a mock scrape or put it over a real one. I use to use one but I really don't know how well they work. There are suppose to only drop scent during the day due to rising temps I believe. There was action in the scrape I put it over which was a real one. I still think that most of the activity though was nocturnal. I don't think it would hurt anything though to put it out and give it a try.

Wow another great day with seeing bucks on the move. Me and my hunting partner just got permission from my uncle to put a stand in a certain tree. Well anyways my buddy is up in the tree cutting away at some branches to make shooting room. He turns around and he said he saw a huge ten point just looking up at him. Well out of bow range even though he didn't even have his bow with him. The deer never spooked though and just went on his route. It was about 3 30 when we finally got the stand set and were ready to hunt. A light rain started and I wasn't really expecting a lot of movement. I can see my buddy in his stand about 150 yards away and I saw him shoot at about 6. I made my way to him and he said the deer was quartered away and he put the arrow in front of the hind leg. So at this point i'm thinking if the deer was facing away he might have clipped a lung but we need to give him so time. We walked down to where he shot and saw some decent blood but nothing to be to excited about. Waited about 45 mins and went in a little farther and the blood trail continued. After about 30 yards there was a blood trail was better then as seen on tv lol. We decided to keep on it even though there was no bubbles and we weren't exactly sure the shot hit at this point. There was enough blood where we figured it couldn't have gone to far and was most likely dead. Its pitch black out now so we can't put another arrow in it if we find it stumbling some where. We went about another 30 yards and can see the illuminknock lit up. (honestly I'm going to buy them next year they really help). We shine the light and can't see a deer. We waited there for about 20 minutes just in case the deer was there and wasn't dead. The lighted knock didn't move and inch and we decided to move in. We closed the distance to about 15 or 20 yards and could see the deer was down. I nice little 4 point. Well when we get up to the deer we see that the arrow is straight in the deers left butt cheek. I have no clue how the arrow ended up goin in like that or how there was a blood trail like that. My buddy must have hit some kind of artery or something. When gutting it as soon as the knift cut skin blood just poured out. Anyways as the title states sometimes you get lucky. If we knew exactly where the arrow hit the deer we would have waiting until moring even with the blood trail and rain. What a day and even with just being a 4 pt. it is a great deer and has a great story. Sorry to be long winded but I'm just completly amazed at how fast the deer died with how it was hit.

Interesting point but I was watching Tiff :-* to LOL...

This is the second straight day I have seen a buck. Yesterdays saw atleast two possibly three and today saw another one. The buck today was following a doe and he was either a 6 or 8, he was about 50 yards away. I think it might have been the same deer I saw yesterday evening. Man I wish I could just go everyday and all day.

Culvercreek Last weekend I could have sat in my truck and shot a deer with a bow. LOL. guess I should have sat there. ???

Anyone having any luck hunting the Windy Days ?
Bleitten04 replied to fasteddie's topic in Deer Hunting
No luck at all in the wind!!! First and last light is when I have seen deer. A couple of days were not windy and I did see deer about a hour and a half after first light and about a hour and a half before last light. Today was only windy from about noon till 5pm ish. I saw One buck maybe two (it was far away thought i saw horns) and 3 doe this morning. This evening I saw another buck. -
never heard of anything like that. The fawns should survive though. They know enough to find food and shelter. Also there is still some time before snow falls so they will have some time to adapt. There wild animals and will get over the loss of mom much better then humans. Congrats on your deer and way to keep looking and not givin up!!!!!!

Video from yesterday, 4ptr responding to my bleat
Bleitten04 replied to burmjohn's topic in Hunting Related Pictures
Hahah thats great!!!! He was looking for something but never found it LOL. Great video. I bleated at a buck today and it was about 50 yards away. It didn't even realize I bleated at all. > O well though thats hunting!!! -
Today was probably my best day yet and I didn't even get to shoot. I saw a doe and two fawns this morning probably about 50 yards away. Then about ten minutes later a nice 7pt comes up beside me about 15 yards and broadside. I new if I moved he was gonna see me. So I froze and then I swear he heard my heart beat LOL. Dang thing looks right at me and then takes off. About half hour later I saw another deer in some goldenrod about 100 + yards away and it looked like it had horns to. Then with about 10 mins of daylight left I saw another buck that was about 50 yards out. It was a big 6 or small 8 it was tough to tell. But man I saw quite a few deer on opening weekend and then only a couple since then. Its really starting to heat up out there now. I'm pumped for the rest of the season.

My father brought me hunting as soon as he thought I would be able to keep quiet for a few hours in the woods. As soon as I was old enough to get a license I did. For a few years I thought hunting was all about killing. I'm only 20 now but I see it is much more. Sort of. Its really tough to explain. LOL. Its still about killing to me but killing has a different meaning to me now. Before if I shot something the job was done and the animal was dead and the day was successfull. I never used to think about the whole food thing. Now a dead animal is food that I have succussfully harvested and butchered for myself and my family. That is why I hunt now. To put food on the table with my hands and the use of equipment that I have fine tuned to the best of my ability. Everything else like the rush you get when a deer comes by and the birds and just nature itself is just icing on the cake. Now what is my need for killing an animal for food when I can just go to the store and buy whatever I want? I never thought of it being instinct. However after reading past posts I do believe that could be right. Its a great feeling to bring home fresh game and fish I harvested and then eat it!!!

Could be a world record in like 5 years or so !!!

I was out last Sat. and Sun. and then again on Tues. and Only saw deer on Sat. One in the morning and 3 that evening. It was quite hot out though. I don't have to walk to far to get to my stand but I was sweating when I got there. Its suppose to be pretty cool this weekend and I'm really looking forward to it.

I don't know whats funnier? The way people try to tell landowners that they don't really own the property or the way the landowners make them look like a holes. LOL. I know I will probably have to deal with a couple come gun season. Been lucky enough to not find a treestand on the property I hunt yet but they have been there in the past.

I used to be a member a few years ago and then managed to not pay the dues. I'm really considering joining again. I agree with the magazines that they are a bunch of advertisments but there is some good reads in them. And all those books they send you.... I bought a couple of them and I love them. Some information in them new and some I already knew. Either way I enjoyed them and they certaintly beat a college text book LOL. ;D . I hunt CNY and WNY. Depends if I"m home or at school!

20-25 yards normally. I will shoot 30 if circumstances are perfect and the deer is wide open in a feild or big clearing. I practice a lot at thirty with good groupings but every now and then Ill slip in a bad one. I really don't want to shoot 30 or consistently in the field until I now that I can put a kill shot on a deer every time. Also I like the idea of practicing at 40 and 50 just for the fact that it will make you a better shooter. Thats def. something I'm going to try next year when sighting in my bow.

Ohio Hunter Arrows Monster Buck With Crossbow
Bleitten04 replied to First-light's topic in Bow Hunting
You guys can have your own opinon and I have nothing against it. I see no problem with how he got the deer. He did nothing illegal!!! Also I wouldn't spend the money on a helicopter because I don't have that kind of money. However if I did have enough dough and had shot a deer like that you better believe I'm calling in a helicopter and maybe even NASA . Also someone said that the guy was handicapped. I don't know to what extent but maybe he wasn't able to get around as much as a non handicapped person would be. That could also be the reason he brought in helicopter. Great job to the hunter!!!!
