Since I'm such a good guy here's what I'll do for you; I work evenings, PM me directions to your stand, I'll get there early and sit in your stand for you until afternoon when I have to go to work. If that nice 10 shows, I'll drop off a picture of him in the back of my truck, a backstrap and a hindquarter for you. If he doesn't then I'll tell you so you don't feel like you would've missed anything by not being there! Keep in mind, I wouldn't do this for just anyone.

Why? If they act like scumbags they deserve to be treated as such. It's pretty simple; don't burglarize, rape, rob, use/sell illegal drugs, molest little kids etc. and you don't have a problem. It isn't like it's something beyond anyone's control.

"Runs afoul of the law"? You make it sound like these people are in for something like speeding or not wearing a seatbelt. If any of my family got arrested running drugs or illegals or something major like that then it wouldn't bother me in the least to see them in a tent camp in Arizona.

A problem I had was the way my arm was rotated so instead of my forearm going vertical it was horizontal, if that makes any sense. Someone showed me what I was doing and to cure it I pick up the bow buy the grip palm up like doing a curl, then instead of rotating your wrist to turn the bow upright, turn your arm. I still wear an armguard whenever I'm wearing a jacket anyway.

Aaaand these are the kinds of people I think should be using crossbows.

Depends on the mood I guess, but the one that's gotten the most miles the past few years is a Marlin 1895M in .450 Marlin.

I prefer afternoons because that's when I typically see more deer because of where my stands are, plus I get cold and antsy sitting for more than 2-3 hours. If I get on stand before daylight I'm asleep by 9 so I figure I might just as well sleep in my bed! Working evenings/nights for over 15 years gets you pretty used to getting up later.

Republican governors?? David Paterson was more of a Conservative Republican than Dewey, Rockefeller,and wacky Pataki combined. Best thing Pataki ever did was lifting the Deet ban and then he put the screws to gun owners almost as hard as lil' Cuomo just did, only he was nice enough to do it to our face instead of in the dead of night. The RINOs in the State Senate led by that Quisling Skelos just showed us how much we can rely on them too.

Blechh. Really don't drink anymore but I've never had a craft type beer that I liked. For me the only thing other than PBR is Genny Bock when it's out in the spring.

1994 I turned 16 in time for the last 3 days of Southern tier shotgun. My Dad had been watching a big 11 pt in a small stand of spruce in the middle of an uncut hayfield out back all day while I was in school the day before. About daylight he sent me up to the edge of the woods to get on watch and he went through that patch of trees. I was standing along a mowed path between the hayfield and the woods and heard a deer coming. I got ready and saw a doe jump into and across the mowed area. I let my guard down because I thought she was alone when I heard another deer coming, looked up and all I saw over the grass was HORNS! This buck crossed right where the doe did and I stood there on my tongue, my gun across my chest and eyes wide. In two jumps he was gone and a minute later I heard a flurry of shots in my cousins woods bordering ours. I nearly cried thinking they got "my" buck. Turns out a friend of ours saw the buck and did almost the same thing I did, except he lost it in the scope and unloaded the gun without touching a hair. A few years later I was hunting with some friends and a couple hundred yards away across a field I watched a nice buck walk out right in front of a guy. He stood there and pumped 5 rounds into the ground right in front of himself. He looked right at the deer the whole time but never lifted the gun, just moved his head to follow it and shot then pumped until the gun was empty!

No, we continue to fight the soft war as hard as we can in the hopes that we never have to fight the hard war. But what is your plan for if it does come to confiscation? Turn in all of your guns and just take up fishing? Turn them in and rely on or hope for some politician to grace the proles with a moment of his "valuable" time to hear your concerns before dismissing you out of hand and going back to looting whatever treasure we have left? I can't speak for anyone else, but for me the 2nd has nothing to do with all of the enjoyable side benefits.

The Holocaust didn't start at the Holocaust and I don't believe we are there yet, but I do believe we are rapidly approaching a tipping point where if the right (or wrong) thing happens we could go either way. Our Government employees were faced with that decision in 1942 when they rounded up American citizens of Japanese ancestry and put them in camps. You are making my point for me though, even if some do resign there will always be those who will enforce the law no matter how wrong it is just because "it's their job". The news has stories nearly every day of "bad" or "rogue" cops who do things like tase little old ladies for not getting out of their car fast enough. What I am afraid of is when enough of your normal LEOs (who I actually do believe are in the majority) decide that they can no longer do the job because of the bad laws resign, all we will be left with are the sadists and the guys with the super-cop complex who get off on stuff like that.

I wasn't too impressed with the WGI I had. I have a cheap Tasco that came from walmart, it's ok but only snaps one at a time and it's got a slow trigger. I end up running it on video all the time and it's ok then. I have two of the Primos DPS time lapse cams waiting for me to get home and try out so I'll let you know what I think after a week or two. Natchez Shooter's Supply had them for $35 if you bought two. Fo that price it was worth a try.

Doc, I have read in several places now your comments on LE "doing their jobs". Where do you draw the line on the "just doing my job" thing though? That's what the concentration camp guards in Europe and the internment camp guards in the US said during WW2. Ours didn't torture, rape and murder millions of people but they did confiscate the property of and lock up American citizens without due process, so it's happened on our soil before. I am not saying that enforcing the SAFE act is at the same level as gassing millions of Jews, Slavs, etc. but using that claim is a slippery slope. People have used less justification for doing some pretty heinous stuff and seeing the way some individuals in LE conduct themselves, I shudder at the thought of allowing anyone to be able to fall back on their job as protection.
