  1. "Q. Must I post to keep people off my property? A. No. Trespassing is illegal even on unposted property, unless it is unimproved, apparently unused and unfenced (or not otherwise enclosed to exclude intruders.) Even on vacant land, a written notice delivered in person (or by certified mail with a signed receipt, etc.) to any person, in the name of the landowner or authorized party, containing a description of the premises and a warning of restrictions which apply has the same effect, for that person, as if the land were posted with those restrictions. Likewise, anyone asked to leave the premises, posted or not, by the landowner, occupant or other authorized person, must do so immediately." http://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8371.html
  2. 15 and 25 almost touching, 30 is about a pin's width below it. When I practice at 30 yds I can watch the arrow arc up and back down into the target. It's a bit like shooting a mortar, I can stand on the ground and spine them through the top at 30.
  3. Wait until you see him in your stand then go give his wife a baby. Fair is fair right?
  4. A miserable old grump who doesn't want anyone to have any fun; luckily I wear my costume every day so it'll be easy to pull it off.
  5. The company I work for has some Union and some Non-union facilities. The Non-union facilities make more $, have the same insurance plus have other bonus programs the Union plants don't so we aren't the ones getting screwed, that'd be the ones who pay some Union for the "privilege" of going to work every day. One major advantage of the non-union shops that makes our efficiency leaps and bounds above the union ones is that if we need more help in a certain area we just move people into the breach. They can't do that at the union facilities because of all the "That's not my job" crap.
  6. My wife worked there for 12 years, her father retired from there, her sister and her husband worked there for 6 and 20 years respectively, her brother was there 15, her grandfather retired there and one uncle retired there. I have a pretty good idea what happened there and you can bet that (while not the only cause) it had a big part in it.
  7. Ohh, you mean like the one that pushed New Venture gear out? Did a bang up job for them.
  8. Tie it around your ankles so if you sink you can just grab it and pull yourself out by the feet.
  9. Just have to remember, Internet people aren't real.
  10. Well technically nearly all of it has been logged at one time or another, but it isn't going to get logged any more.
  11. 1) No logging on Public land in the Park. 2) Bring at least two compasses, flashlights and ways to start a fire, apiece. 3) Make sure your boots are broken in because you will put on some miles. 4) Two words: Fern beds. 5) Pray for snow. 6) If you stay within a couple hundred yards of the roadways and trails there will be people to move the deer around. Get waaay back in like we do and you'll be pretty lonely. We set up 7 miles in from the parking lot on the end of the (no motor vehicles allowed) trail so in 17 years I ran into two people.
  12. If you make sure they take care of it and keep it in nice shape there's not much chance of getting hurt on resale.
  13. Getting my ducks in a row to sell in the next couple years and git. Next sucker can worry about it.
  14. Any of the newer Marlins and Winchesters have an additional safety. The only time I use the crossbolt safety on my Guide Gun is when I am uncocking the hammer so in case it should slip it will still not go off. I think that fit is more important than caliber. You'd be better off going with a rifle that fit them well now and selling it for a full size one later when they outgrow this one. If you hit a whitetail in the right spot it doesn't really take that much to kill them so cartridge isn't really that critical, within reason. A .30-06 that fits well will kick less (and cause fewer bad habits to undo later) than a .243 that doesn't.
  15. I haven't the slightest interest in hunting doves but this sentence makes me want to get just involved enough to keep it going forever to keep costing them money.
  16. I was gonna' say, what the hell! I was born in the 70's and I remember Ground Round, it can't be that old!
  17. Ought to be simple enough to get people to call in their deer too but even that is too difficult for some.
  18. http://www.murraysguns.com/sksown.htm For that potential firing pin issue.
