Whoops, meant I can shoot more accurately at a farther distance. Typing and thinking at differnt speeds. Never even caught that; thanks for looking out for me Joe.

Our taxes were about $2000 before we built the house. Now with the Ag value assessment they are shy of $8000, without it they were nearly $12,000. 2,100 sq/ft 3br 2.5 bath colonial.

I'm telling ya', I've got a clean one owner in Oneida County with nearly 50 acres just begging for you to take it so we can head towards the sun!

Bank error, my favor!

I can shoot farther with my (compound) bow than I can with my .45 Colt. I'm all for allowing revolvers during archery season too. Not really, but that should get some sparks flying.

The only deer I've killed with an arrow was when I had my 40lb Martin Rebel recurve. I shot the heck out of that bow until the top limb split then I hung it on the wall. Next one was a 50lb 1973 Bear Grizzly that I shot for a few years but my wife wanted a bow and I didn't have the money to buy her one so I sold the Grizzly and went back to using my old compound. Even though my compound is a 1986 it is easier to shoot accurately than with the recurve, but I still like the recurve more. I used (and still use) aluminum arrows because I have not been impressed with the durability or cost of carbons, plus I like a heavy arrow. The carbons were accurate but I didn't feel that they held up.

Registering for Confiscation

Doc while I agree absolutely that we need to fight the soft war now so we never have to fight the hard war, if it comes down to it there need to be Americans left who are willing and able to do whatever is in their power to preserve the idea of Liberty, even though it may be generations from now. If God forbid, it someday comes to armed resistance no one should fool themselves. It will be hard, people will die, people will be ruined physically and financially and there is a very real chance that it will fail. Knowing all of that, everyone must look deep inside themselves and make their own personal decision whether it is worth it to them to risk everything on that one chance that it may succeed. -
Tell you what, if I had a bazooka I wouldn't waste any on deer!

But I'd like to see it on Youtube!

Unless you waffle said game with your car.

Me either, problem is you and I don't have the final say. I'm just saying that as goofy as our state is, especially as of late, it may be prudent to check with the ones who will have your dingles in a vise if they decided it was.

Right but there is such thing as a "short barrelled rifle" which is a rifle with a barrel that is under 16". They require a Federal $200 tax and are illegal in NY. That's the only thing I'd be worried about with that strange grip.

My issue with the argument of things like "the only people who want them are the ones who don't want to practice" is that there are plenty of people who use vertical bows who practice very little. Unless they make a rule where you need to bring your bow and meet some sort of accuracy standard every year before you can pick up your bow license, I'd prefer the ones that can't be bothered to practice use something that is easier to shoot accurately.
-
Yeah, that's the part that I could see them stoning you over.

IF NY considered it a handgun it would be legal anywhere that was not a "Bow Only" area. The way our State interperets things though, I wouldn't be surprised to see them classify that as an SBR (Short Barrelled Rifle) and therefore illegal to possess. I don't know that they would, I just suspect it. I do know that those Rossi Ranch Hands are not legal here.

Actually I do most of my hunting out in the middle of the Adirondack Park. I am just willing to go far enough out that I rarely encounter another person. When I do hunt around home I really don't care what anyone on the other side of the fence is hunting with as long as they're playing by the rules. It's not "screw everyone else" so much as "live and let live". I personally have no interest in lugging a crossbow around the woods as my '86 compound is heavy enough, but if someone else wants to, more power to them.
-
As long as they're dropping their dime too and not hunting where they don't have permission to be I couldn't care less.
-
What are they "taking advantage" of? Are they hunting on your property? If not then who are you to say they are "taking advantage" of anything?
-
Actually I know just as many bowhunters who start shooting the week before bow season as I do gun hunters who do the same.
-
Yeahhhh, except that in NY it that we (gunowners/hunters) are our own worst enemy. If I could kick someone in the nuts every time they've told me "I'm just a hunter, it doesn't affect me" or "Nobody needs those things for hunting anyway so i think it's good" I'd have worn out a pair of boots just since the ban passed.
-
The ones I know wear red and green wool. Same thing they wear deer hunting after a fresh snowfall.
-
And those of us that do hunt there have so many acres to cover already that we rarely even bump into another person anyway. I've only seen two people in 17 years.

Mr. Barrett certainly doesn't mince words does he? "...should have a respectable fear of being found with the guilty on their day of trial."

Personally I don't mind if someone is honestly trying to catch their dogs because you're right, you can't control them once they're loose. Problem is I know guys who have been denied permission to hunt on certain property who will turn the dogs loose at the edge of it so they run in there to bug the quarry out and then play the "can't control where the dogs go" card. Then they brag about how clever they are for doing it. All it takes is these clowns to come through a couple times and it blows it for everyone else.
