  1. Mr_Saw. When I signed up it wouldn't let me use covert so I went with my alias!
  2. Dejavu'! That's the second time today I've run across this!
  3. I for one am glad to hear that you are willing to stick with your limit and wait for a shot you feel comfortable with. Better than not being patient, stretching it and maybe gut-shooting him. Oh, and cool to hear that he responded to the grunt. I have always had good luck with a grunt too.
  4. Have a popup blind that I'vve never used, may try it out this year. During bow I pretty much always sit in a tree stand, during gun I almost never do.
  5. There's a difference between an incidental sighting of an animal passing through and a breeding resident population. Look in any bird book and you'll find countless examples of areas where a species is occasionally sighted outside of their normal range.
  6. ND is a long walk, but it's not like he had anything better to do. Didn't have to be to work Monday morning.
  7. Is walking worth $19.99? http://www.gandermountain.com/modperl/product/details.cgi?pdesc=Hunter-Safety-System-Quick-Connect-Tree-Strap&i=401483&r=view&aID=503H7&cvsfa=2586&cvsfe=2&cvsfhu=343031343833&s_kwcid=goobasecontent_goobasecontent_filler&cID=GSHOP_401483
  8. Yep, need a sometimes option. I don't generally but like WNY there are some places I routinely see deer so I make sure I am ready. I have also done a little spot and stalk a couple times. Didn't get a shot but it sure was fun!
  9. Is there any way to "Like" a post more than once?
  10. Four hours? I'm carrying a pillow, 'cause there's no way I'm setting for four hours without falling asleep!
  11. I upgraded too, before this one I was shooting a '73 Bear Grizzly!
  12. Once manbearpig causes a new ice age you'll have to retrain him to point on baby seals.
  13. 30 yds. Not bad for a bow that was built in 1986! Same gear, same distance.
  14. According to the USPS site you can mail a long gun to yourself in another state C/O someone else, so you don't have to transport it if going hunting out of state.
  15. I want bucks that are dumber than a bag of hammers with big ol' racks and teeny-tiny bodies that I can fit in my backpack for easier transport, and I want to hunt them in October with my revolver.

The only cases ever found in NYS were in 2005, the Mad Deer Containment Zone was discontinued in 2010.
  17. Nice, congratulations on the marriage and the hunt! Good to see the old '06 getting it done!
  18. My son isn't quite 3 yet and I only know one person with a child the proper age and he's already taking him.
  19. Just make sure you don't try to mail ammo. That is on the prohibited list with USPS.
  20. I have heard of problems with this before, seems you have to go to an actual UPS shipping depot. UPS Stores are individually owned/franchised. "The UPS Store has more than 4,300 independently owned locations in the U.S., " http://www.theupssto...ages/index.aspx Firearms shipping per UPS: http://www.ups.com/c...ch_phr=firearms Down at the bottom of the page that the second link goes to it says: "Note: Firearms (including handguns) are not accepted for shipment via UPS Drop Boxes, UPS On-Call PickupSM, or at locations of The UPS Store® or any third party retailer. "
  21. Got him with a handloaded .30-30 Speer HotCor out of my Savage 1899.

I can't speak for everything but I know that in the milk business, "organic" is highly regulated. We have to keep the organic milk totally segregated from non-organic and even have to run the organics first on the schedule so there is no chance of any non-organic getting mixed in. The certified organic farms get paid more for the milk to make up for the extra trouble of getting and remaining certified organic. There are some pesticides and medicines though that are approved for organic use, so the term organic doesn't necessarily mean that there are absolutely zero chemicals ever used in the growing of them.

I am basically around the corner from where it happened. I refer to it as "Mad Deer" jokingly, I do know that it is not the same thing as Mad Cow. There were two herds destroyed, the original infected herd and a second herd that included deer that were bought from the first. I thought that the second herd was infected also but they may have destroyed the second herd as a precaution.
  24. But to be fair, there probably wasn't any need to in the area you were hunting, correct? Just knowing they were a buck was probably enough.

The guy who owned the place was a taxidermist who did work with animals from out West. He was keeping fawns in the shop where he was doing the work and they probably picked it up there and spread it to the rest of his herd. There was also something about capturing wild does and putting them in with a big captive buck he had to get bred and then releasing them. He sold deer to the other farm that tested positive for Mad Deer disease. The two "wild" deer that tested positive were killed in the area directly between (within a couple miles) these two captive herds.
