I guarantee this storm is half of what they predict...... love how cuomo already has new york state listed as a federal state of emergency and obamas approval. the wind hasnt even picked up. In fact it hasnt even blown yet where i am. Our local area mayors and political figures already have a command center set up in the basement of an office building with shelters all over at the ready yada yada yada. Big waste of money, just not convinced these doomsday preperations are necessary, especially where i live. Nyc long island different story.

Had a doe and her 2 fawns come into my brassicas at dawn then they got spooked by the neighbor mullin around his backyard. Then i just had a would be 6 point with his left side broken off make a rub on my cedar post i made.....mind you this is the first buck ive seen all year and lets just say ive put my time in. Wonder if this storm has anything to do with it. Cant wait to get out after sandy passes its gonna be good.

ive used code red. same stuff as code blue, same company. dont really have an opinion on whether they work or not. have had deer come in and sniff them but im not sure if they were headed that way to begin with or if the scent brought them in lol will say that wearing rubber boots with no scent sprayed on them has been better than putting doe urine on them. my route to my stand crosses every deer path on the way in, and with the doe urine when theyd cross my path theyd sniff the ground and the deer would be skiddish thereafter, without the doe urine theyll walk down the same exact mowed path and not even put their head to the ground.

i got to watch the squirrels fight over a corn cob. that was actually pretty funny.

Heard of a sighting in clinton, and my friend has a trail camera picture of one at his camp off rte 12 between waterville and sherburne. Anyone else seeing bears pop up in new areas not accustomed to bear?

i never really thought how when i rake up the crab apples in my yard before i mow and throw them over the bank out behind my house that this could be considered feeding the deer... even though i wasnt trying to feed anything lol

but according to the definition of hunting, any kicked up deer on your way out after dark could be deemed "hunting" regardless if you have a firearm or not.....

this state is just so F'd up, god i cant wait to get the heck out of here. what kills me is the laws that are written that apply to this scenario of walking out of the woods with a loaded weapon are so vague when you think about what the definition of "hunting" is and how an ECO/Judge can apply it to a situation and stick it so someone who wasn't breaking the law. like seriously, an ECO depending on his mood, is going to tell me that I was hunting deer if I walk out of the woods with a loaded weapon and kick up a few deer when i could very well be hunting coyote?? Then a judge is going to tell me that by "definition of the word hunting" i was technically hunting those deer and take the side of the ECO?? wheres the common sense?? get your nose out of the book interpreting words to twist the situation and use your brain. and while your at it quit making law abiding citizens feel like a damn criminal, you wonder why we appear so ignorant.

i live in central new york, and whenever im in a different part of the country i ALWAYS say "upstate new york" and make it clear there is more to the state than the city. if you dont they automatically assume when you say new york, your from the city.

In all other localities, be sure to check with local officials about laws restricting the discharge of a firearm at night. im hunting 3 things right now whenever i walk into the woods. deer, turkey, and coyotes. if an eco wants to tell me i had intent to kill....hes damn right i had intent to kill, thanks for stating the obvious. i had intent to kill 1 of each during their respective hunting hours. i dont need a turkey call or a coyote call or a deer call, ive killed 2 coyotes last year out of the same stand with a bow. i have a flock of 18 turkeys that walk single file infront of my stand 3-4 times a week, i try every time to pluck one off with my bow but its damn hard even in a treestand to draw on one with 18 pairs of eyes looking around. so yea, i have every intention of harvesting a coyote from the moment i walk in, to the moment i reach my truck, and harvesting a deer and/or turkey from legal sunrise/sunset. like someone else stated, you just need to know your rights and the laws when confronted by a DEC officer, because it appears the DEC is just like any other policing organization and hopes you dont know the laws so they can get away with writing BS tickets.
