  1. I forgot I found this last week walking the woods around the home until going through my pack. I have a file I use to sharpen my hatchets and axe but no grinder or sander. Any thoughts on how to get all the rust off? Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  2. Then why did people ask for another one? At least this is straight forward, not click-bail. Sheesh. LOL Neutral is don't vote, don't post. I agree with that bottom part. That's a very reasonable compromise IMO. But to many others, that wouldn't be "fair" to the WMU's left out. The area I made bold and italic.... Don't agree with that at all. ALL hunting is a privilege, and no one should just go with the crowd to fit in, make your own decisions/conclusions and stand by them.
  3. me too. LOL. People wanted a poll, I gave them a poll.
  4. I am for full inclusion, but it really doesn't matter to me, even if I hunted with a crossbow.
  5. Biz had a cross bow before a compound.
  6. Found this: http://www.chicagotribune.com/suburbs/deerfield/news/ct-dfr-deerfield-assault-weapon-ban-tl-0412-story.html But can't seem to locate what the actual law reads. But seems pretty clear from this. Looks more and more like they are chipping away at the small things they can seeing they haven't been able to remove the 2nd Amendment completely.
  7. Had to run a few errands this morning, so stopped in to local beverage shop to look around. Saw this in cans and decided to see if it tastes the same as the little glass jugs I usually buy it in. Just really enjoy this and end up getting some when they have it. 8. Happy birthday Jeremyk. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  9. This is pretty interesting: http://www.dec.ny.gov/docs/wildlife_pdf/2017deerrpt.pdf https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/8302.html I'm not sure I agree with these numbers 100%, but very interesting to look at a map of the WMU's, and compare those numbers to regional land.
  10. Why would I not shoot a doe because it might screw up your hunt?
  11. Is there a breakdown of harvested deer by WMU? No sarcasm or ill will meant, honest question. Would be interesting to see the harvest numbers from ( as an example ) 4J, 3A/N, 7F/M, 9H/M/T in the SZ, compared to say, 6J/F and 5H/F up North. I know this would be impossible to calculate, but I would love to know the ratio of harvested deer on public land VS private land.
  12. Good luck on this venture. Looking forward to reading the journal and seeing some pics. I think crosses the mind of most hunters from time to time. As rachunter asked, you going 100% off grid? Or do you have some amenities at your camp?
  13. So what are you doing about it? Are you organizing pro gun protests? Are you calling your local legislators? Are you stepping away the the device to make a stand? Or are you just spouting off? No one likes these attacks, but most of us don't make it our day to day to focus on tragedy or politics on a HUNTING FORUM! How do you feel about these issues: https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/44648-opening-day-plan/?tab=comments#comment-660581 https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/44676-how-did-you-learn-to-hunt/ https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/44651-opening-day-trout-season/ https://huntingny.com/forums/topic/44431-live-from-the-water-2018-edition/
  14. Anything classic Star Wars in fair condition is worth some coin, especially to a collector. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

  16. I attached an image as trying to decipher what you said a bit of a PITA. I'm guessing the parts I put a red square around are what you said? This isn't about gun laws or rights anymore. It's about disarming the populist. The next move will be mental illness. But, who decides that? I think people who have delusions about the end of civilization are a bit unstable. Maybe they shouldn't be allowed to have firearms. Look at the point of view they hold. Oh, and this one is just for "Stay At Home Nomad", "Just Sayin". Mental illness can be anything from depression from loosing a loved one to anxiety about being in a place with too many people. Then there's the bad shit, nut cases who just decide to kill people. Who decides who is unfit to own a gun? It seems the liberals and Dems have a lock on that one. Food for thought.
  17. All I know, it this is on Andy's desk, and we all now he will sight it. What happens to a 50YO man, who pushed his wife once 30 years ago? Will he have to turn in all his guns? The bill reads Harassment is now cause for denying gun rights. Is this for both sexes? I ask because I have seen women who were far more "hostile" then most of the men I know. I agree with not allowing convicted DV people from having guns, I just hope this runs two ways. But, it won't. This is just more fodder. Piss your wife off, she calls the cops and says you threatened her, and presto, your in deep shit. This isn't as rare a circumstance as most seem to believe.
  18. Rob, this was a great post. Yes, a bit sad, but the tradition yo have is enlightening at the same time. I never really knew my father, left when I was 4, and passed when I was 10. I have one good memory that I hold sacred, and will not share with many, and never on the web. Maddie, I will say, I don't think the pain ever goes away. You just find ways to deal with it. Force yourself to think about the good times, something funny. When my mom passed, it was a very traumatic experience for me. My hands started shaking and haven't stopped almost 17 years later. A part of me died that day, and I could feel a darkness and cold inside me, it's never went away. When I feel myself starting to really sink, I think about the time she fell on her ass trying to reel in a big carp and the line snapped, or the time she caught the biggest perch for her and the smile on her face, I even think about life lessons she taught me. You have to try really hard, and just focus on the good times when you are hurting the most. Hope I didn't derail this thread, the death of parents or other loved ones can effect different people in different ways. You just have to deal with the best you can.
  19. Baby back ribs, tater salad, Bush's brown sugar and bourbon baked beans ( added some onion, spicy mustard, and bacon ), deviled eggs, and steamed corn. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  20. Thinking the same area. Place I was thinking is just off 32 on Waldenmaier Rd. CSX is about a mile away on Creble Rd. See deer and turkeys in those fields all the time, and at some odd hours. Knocked on a couple doors over that way after moving to Selkirk almost two years ago, but no go.
