  1. Gotta have my veggies. Not a youngin' anymore. LOL
  2. Ask God, he will tell you all you need to know.
  3. Homemade chicken fingers and waffle fries in the fryer. Steamed peas ( again ) on the side. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  4. I'm not OK with that ( I do agree with with making the bow course mandatory for cross bow users, other then that, NOPE! ). Not all of us have the time or skill set to be efficient with a trad bow. I have tried, and it's just not in my wheel house. Not for lack of trying. I have over and over stated my reasons for full inclusion, they are not personal, I just want people to be able to have choices, and make educated selections of the weapon of choice. I have a compromise, if you really want to level the playing field, don't allow scopes on crossbows, rifle/iron sights only. That would put them just a smidgen closer to trad archery. Still not trad archery, or even compound territory, but would put crossbow users in the same boat as vert bow hunters. You have to pay your dues while not hurting your shoulder or back for those who have heath issues. Might keep those pesky/lazy/slob "gun hunters" from buying one. I am not even going to dissect this one! I am going to say this! wolc123, all you do is piggy back other peoples threads and use them to get up on your soap box. You're a very religious person correct? Doesn't the Bible say "God Helps Those Who Help Themselves"? Maybe you should have had the guts to make this poll?
  5. I didn't get any pics, I tried, but in a car going 65 it's not so easy with a cell phone. We were driving down I-90 around noon today, and saw a bunch of flocks with strutters between Selkirk and Colonie. Huge flock in the fields next to that indoor soccer place.
  6. I was wondering about the turkey season as a whole a about a month ago. I was thinking the same thing, this weather over the past two months has been "crappy" to say the least. I am seeing birds in fields more and more frequent. We had to drive down into Colonie today, saw turkey all over the place driving down I-90, bunch of strutters on the march in those flocks. That was at around 11:30 AM. On the way back about two hours later, one flock had merely moved from one field to another adjacent. I tried to get pics, but at 65MPH, my phone just had a big blurr. Also saw about 10-15 deer. They looked rough.
  7. I agree with straining. I usually leave the oil right in the fryer and store in my pantry most times though. I only strain when I have made anything with breading or flour coating, and the few times I have used a batter. When the oil is no longer clear, looks murky, or smokes, I toss it out. I also only give it a couple months. Even if I only used it once. Also, here's some advice, if you deep fry any sea food, toss the oil. Mainly because the oil will have a pretty bad taint of fish taste that doesn't go well with anything else. YUCH! When we do sea food we try to plan it so it's time to toss the oil. I also picked up a funnel, and put the old oil back into the original container. As for the grease build up, I have never encountered that. Perhaps a byproduct of using the peanut oil? I use veggie oil mainly. Tried coconut oil once, very costly and it was really murky and smoked pretty bad after one use, which was chicken fingers and fries.
  8. Came out great! What's the weigh on the arrow no tip? Also thought you might have gone with those light up knocks. Just curious. Can't learn if one doesn't ask.
  9. I was never in the scouts. But wasn't hard as a kid to build forts, lean two's, and once even a small cabin out of downed tree's. Back then a tarp and sleeping bag were a lot of fun as well. Health keeps me from this type if camping, but I still like watching the vids and learning new things. That, and sometimes I need a break from watching hunting vids. 10. I like the yellow and green. Nice and bright to locate. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  11. Fifth hair on the chest?
  12. Glad this post was made. My shotgun patterns the same every year, same barrel, same choke tube, same ammo, same fixed bead sight. But, it did remind me that seeing I plan to try hunting with my bow I needed to put a couple arrows in a target. Haven't touched the bow in a few months. Two shots, broadheads, first to the left, second to the right. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  13. BBQ chicken, mashed taters, and steamed peas. FYI, sauce was Stubbs, seemed a little watery, had to spray the chicken with some EVOO to crisp up the skin for 3rd coating. Still good. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  14. Bud and an Macanudo Inspirado sitting on the steps. Perfect weather for it. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  15. Practice shooting ( bow and gun ) while taking a #2. Deer and turkey love to show on when your pants are down and your weapon is 30 feet away.
  16. I am a big fan of Joe Robinet. I felt bad for him having to tap out on Alone, not like he quit because he was scared. I enjoy his vids, he knows what he's talking about. I also like that he explains how to do things. Was interesting to learn how Alone ( well, the company that owns them ) pays the local LEO's and Govmnt. to hunt and fish using not so legal ways and implements just to film the show. Anyway........... You have to skip to about the 9:20 mark to get to what I am looking forward too. He's doing a 10 day "simulation" of Alone. It should be good and I am looking forward to it.
  17. They don't need the "big" political votes anymore. Towns and cities can now make laws to supercede the constitution. IL just proved that ( not like they were the first ). No one can stop these anti's, no one. Best start letting that sink in.
  18. I made this poll for two reasons, 1: people asked for another poll, so I made one, 2: To prove just how much dissension there is among hunters. The hunting crowd are no different from the left and right wings battling for political dominance. "I want it my way!", "NO! I want it my way!". But, make no mistake, this isn't a popularity contest for me! I honestly wish more people would think of and offer a compromise instead of just font warring. At times, I have no clue what you are saying ( I get the same thing from time to time ). This poll didn't create the crossbow season, and I am not going to discuss a longer/shorter gun season in a cross bow thread. Who the hell decided that? I sure wouldn't agree to allow that! VIVA LA OPEN SEASON ON EVERYTHING YOU CAN EAT! ( Please Note! this part is sarcasm! "VIVA LA OPEN SEASON ON EVERYTHING YOU CAN EAT!" ).
  19. 71% VS 29%. To bad this poll will never influence the DEC or the antler hunters.
  20. Really? Here in lies the issue, people post on the media feed, and "What's New". So like you say, they have no way of knowing, my issue is plain and easy to understand, if you have some common sense, don't post to the first "What's New" or "What's Trending" threads post you read. Here's another issue on this site, even you are guilty of this one eddie, "Pics or it didn't happen.". I have understood this "account" from the get go.
  21. You don't pay attention much do you? You just read what the social media feed sends you. I am for inclusion to try and get more people into hunting! If that means sharing the early bow season with crossbow hunters I am OK with that. As for me "sucking" at shooting my bow, again, you have no clue, and just hopped on the anti train. We have threads on here for people who shoot their bows, and guess what, we have pics! You would know that if your weren't trolling or posting "click-bait". Try looking around the sight before you talk/type.
  22. Happy Birthday. This is a good day to have been born! Hoping your day was filled with good food, friends, family, and making memories!
  23. In any discussion "traditional archery gear " is a long bow or a re-curve, shot with fingers, no sight, and many times, not even a rest. That's traditional. You can use any term you like. Like I said, my compound bow is a far cry from trad gear. Any compound bow is! Let off, wheels/cams, stabilizers, etc... I have tried shooting re-curves more then a few times. It's just not in my wheel house. I admit that, I suck. But, anyone who wants to make a basis on not allowing the cross bow because it's not traditional, then says a compound is traditional must be a millennial, reaching for what they want, and not looking at the rest of the world.
