  1. I can't even put into words how I feel about the state of the USA, or the entire world. If I was an overly religious man, I would say some things in the Book Of Revelations are coming to pass. But, I am not. So, I will just say the whole world has gone full on bat $hit crazy. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2017/10/15/557895226/bombing-in-somalia-kills-dozens-death-toll-expected-to-rise What drives human beings to commit these acts? What kind of human being wakes up in the morning planning to carry out these atrocities? What goes through their head? What kind of human being would plan this type of $hit?
  2. Where you puttin' up that there homestead pardner? I would be more then happy with a canvas wall tent with a floor or reflective tarp as a floor, wood stove, and cots. Assortment of cast iron cooking pots to use on the wood stove and good to go.
  3. Mowed mine this afternoon. Was higher then it looked.
  4. Actually, I think I may have another reason. I think it may have been another hunter that spooked her and she circled back in the direction she came from. Not positive, but gut feeling. A few people hunt the shelf below me.
  5. Was in and set up just after 6AM. Saw three deer pass by at maybe 20-25 yards shortly there after. I couldn't make out any racks, they were just dark silhouettes passing by. The only other thing I heard was something crashing through the woods around 9. But, I think I did figure something out about a edgy doe from last weekend. Saw nothing more the rest of the sit. Longest sit this season, paying for it.
  6. Congrats Rebel Darling! Nice doe. Congrats Buckmaster7600.
  7. Last time was a few weeks ago, mainly just to get the leaves up. Doesn't really need to be mowed, but one more time to get the leaves up and I'm done.
  8. I have been thinking about picking up a Black-Lite Flashlight for this. The UV light will show the blood. Usually even after some rain.
  9. Yeah, I forget that some folks who live down by ( or on ) the turd sticking off NYS think all of us North and North-West hunters have no teeth, date our sisters, and don't like that we wear or hats the proper way. LOL! This Pernice dude is a full blown POS! Seeing he's not a "local", he might just get the max penalties for his stupidity.
  10. Thought that myself. I would test them out. Lucky for you have state land that allows target shooting close by. I would dare to say I doubt the difference would be as drastic as 8"+. Maybe a couple inches.
  11. Huh? Everything I found says this jack ass is from Norfolk, NY. You on the inside track of a news source you're not telling us about? That's one hell of a drive to poach deer no matter how much you want a monster buck.
  12. In all seriousness, I didn't find this offensive in any way, but I am sure some will, so this is why I am putting in the "Political" section. Due to the theme it carries and some members here. After reading about $30 tree stands at Dicks, I wanted to see what they would look like. So, I type Dicks Sporting Goods, then search for tree stands. I literally laughed out loud at the choices that came up for the search refine. I am still sort of chuckling for two reasons. Reason 1) I guess Dicks is a liberal "box Store". Boycott them IMMEDIATELY! Reason 2) I just can't stop laughing at "Unisex Tree Stands". Seriously? You only have two choices here folks, Adult or Unisex. Choose wisely!
  13. Maybe, I guess "in the field" could be used loosely in this instance. I doubt we'll ever know the fully story on this one. That saddens me because there will be no closure for any of the victims or their families or friends. I just don't see this as some giant conspiracy, "Shadow.Black Op's" gone wrong, or some giant cover-up. Carry on with your regularly scheduled posts, sorry for the interruption.
  14. right back at ya! LOL I am trying to figure what this means in relevance to my post. I'm not trying to give you a hard time. Well, I wasn't... Now I have to wonder about this lover thing. So you have a "lover field" for deer? Does it have some fine hay all laid out with heaters, deer crossing signs, and one of those heart shaped vibrating beds? I have seen deer so some strange $h!t over the years, but had never seen one bolt back in the direction they came in from on alert. Most any animal runs from danger, not towards it.
  15. Huh? There is no way this was solely on the kindle.
  16. The spirit of hunting doesn't get any better then this Jay! She wants to earn her first, doesn't get any better then that! Good look to her tomorrow, and to you as the proud father who will be smiling when she fills a tag!
  17. Wishing the best of luck to those taking a youth out this weekend! Hoping to see some smiling faces in the harvest thread.
  18. The pics are lunch out in the Schoharie Valley. Thanks to me spending an extra hour in the woods at home hunting before we left we had to pick up a cheapy grill. Nice afternoon with the future Mrs. and FIL and MIL. anyway.

    New To Me

I was sitting on the ground this morning, wind in my face, and a doe walks into the area about 50 yds out. She's alert, tail flicking, looking over her right shoulder back in the direction she came from. I was on her left. She did glance at me a couple of times, but, to my knowledge, she never winded or saw me. After about 10 minutes of of watching her, she bolts back in the direction she came from. Anyone see this before? Curious as to why she would be so alert, and then run back in the direction she seemed to be on alert from.
  20. I was out for a couple hours this morning. One doe came around and how she was acting was odd as hell to me. Will post that in a different thread.. Heading to a new area tomorrow, going to go do some still hunting/scouting in Schodack Island. They have the maps up, and curiosity has the best of me.
