Getting dinner ready to cook, decided to pop a top. Magic Hat Vamplifier. It's not bad, slight caramel hint, and a tad bitter finish.

Happy birthday.

Deer don't like thugs, put your hat on straight and it might help LOL. How many of those giant sandwiches do you carry, that thing must have weighed 5 lbs on it's own. 60+lbs is a lot of gear. I saw nothing in the couple hours I got out this morning. Not even birds. Tomorrow morning 4B, Sunday back up to 5J. -
The park owner is going to repair it as it was an existing problem. At least, he said he would. Ig they aren't in here first thing Monday morning, looks like I will be getting a Lowe's card and doing it myself. I have a fan going on it, and once they get it pulled down I am ready with the bleach. It's not the roof, roof is fine. It's where the bay window connects to the side of the trailer. They had to take it out to move it up here from Florida, and when they put it back in they didn't seal it up right.

A few things the past couple weeks have been testing my last nerve in the hew home. This put the mud on the cake. Last nights rain did some damage over our kitchen bay window. $&%&%*(%& !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No offense to the OP, but growie said it perfectly. There are no make-or-breaks. You can bust your butt hunting, and never get a clean shot in range. Not everyone wants to chance shooting through bushes with a gun, or take a chance on shooting too far out of range with a bow. So, what exactly is "make-or-break-a-hunter"?
-
Sounds like your shooting a movie. There is nothing that would make me try and take a shot at a deers butt.
-
So lets post up some pics of all your legal AR style rifles. Don't be shy, you know the regs and laws so lets see those set ups.

I'm not saying hunting can't be frustrating, but to me, hunting isn't always about what I kill . I don't sit all day in the same spot, I get up and move around looking for sign and still hunt when I get bored. If all you want to do is sit in a blind or tree stand all day, yeah, I guess you might feel like you are wasting your time. I don't feel that way. But, to each their own. I guess if you went fishing and didn't catch anything that day it would be a waste of time? Not to me. I still went fishing. If you think leasing land will magically make you see deer every day, you might be in for a surprise.

Core, you have the wrong attitude about hunting at times. Hunters don't "burn up hours in the woods". We cherish the time we spend in the woods hunting deer ( or anything we hunt ). Watching the woods wake up, getting pi$$ed of at squirrels and chipmunks for causing a ruckus, deer just out of range or not giving a clean shot, is part of hunting. There are no hours spent in the woods a true hunter would call 'burning' hours, or 'wasting' time.

NO! LOL. Nope, never put on second or last layer while driving to spot. All upper layers are put on at the hunting sight. Learned that a long time ago. I actually have a few home made ones for my back. They only hold heat for about 20 minutes in the house. Can't imagine they will hold heat long enough to get to my local spot 10 minutes away. Today I talked to her about the situation. She doesn't want to spend anymore money this season on gear as she can only get out one last time next weekend. I think I may take Paula's advice and try and get her a pair of over sized sweat pants to go over her outer layer for the legs. I put a pair of my ( proven to realistically -35 ) -70 snowboard socks in her pack, and I bought more heat packs and told her to use them. She is starting to enjoy hunting, so I want her to be comfy. We are on a budget, so we have to really look at what truly works and what doesn't. I have heard of the sleeping bag method, but that's for people who already have blinds and stands set up. Dragging 150#'s of gear into the woods for a day isn't ideal. I appreciate all the advice and feedback, I need to look into some of the suggestions for next season for her.
-
How many frikin "last packages" do you have? You been saying last pack for like two months. I been thinking the same thing for a while Paula. Anyway............. Turkey tacos tonight.
-
No, we never set up the blind. It was in her CUV, but we decided not to use it. I gave her the cushion I use under my knees for bow hunting for padding, she put it on the pail, it has a slot for a warmer, but she didn't use the warmers. She has the will and desire, I just need to keep her warm to stay with it.
-
Yeah, I know it has been asked before, but............ Trying to figure out how to keep the g/f warm on sits. She has bad feet so still hunting is off the books. I bought her hand and toe warmers ( which she didn't use this morning ), her core was warm, but her legs, feet, and hands got cold. I give her a lot of respect, she toughed it out for three hours. It's her first year, so she is trying to figure out what works and what doesn't. I put a pair of my snowboarder socks in her pack for next week, she already has the hand and feet warmers, trying to help her figure out what will work for her. Anyone have any tips?

If you look at the time stamps, the campers set up, drive deer, and left in just over two hours. That has to be the fastest camping trip ever. I complain about a couple public lands I hunt, but, I still hunt them. I try and go where others won't. To many people hit up public land, don't scout, and get pissed off when others invade "their space". If it's a high pressure area, deal with it. We all do that hunt public land.

Buddies second self brewed beer. American Amber. Pretty good, just a tad bitter. His German Octoberfest from last month was better.

Been on the road since 4:30 heading up to the lower dacks , fog is thicker than pea soup and driving is crazy. We aren't even a 1/4 of the way to our destination. All you folks driving around the capital district be safe driving. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk -
I never said that. LOL!

I did mention better accuracy.

OK. Back on rifles. What's point of not having a detachable magazine? I would rather have my spur grip just in case I have to use it as a self defense weapon then have to do a break to reload. Lets be honest here, we buy these style of rifles because they are tough, accurate, can't call them light if you add every accessory available, and if the need arises to use as self defense. If all you want is a pure hunting rifle, you can save a lot of money with a bolt action.

Hmm...See, this where the regs get blurry. A semi auto shotgun is classified as an assault weapon if it has a pistol grip if I recall.
