  1. Huh? Where did that come from? You OK? Need one of us to call 911 for you? ______________________________________________________ As to the OP. I take no offense, but I hunt both, and there are grimy bow hunters out there too.
  2. I actually prefer wild game to taste like what was killed. If I want my venison to taste like cow, I will just go buy a steak. There's a reason it's called "wild" game.
  3. LOL! OK. Growies Kindal must have slapped my phone. Never had a typo that bad before. I set the g/f up in the spot I was sitting last week, I was 80 yards down stream ( bet you thought that term was just for fishing ), we saw the same doe and fawn from last week. Tow more does walked right down the creek, but, no does in 5J.
  4. I have a dry, sarcastic wit, just like most people on here. The pic thing stems from so many people saying "Pics or it didn't happen!". I still stand by I would love to see a pic of Uptown actually hunting. As for the original reason the thread was created, the 30-30 or the .35 Rem seems to be more preferred by those who do not reload.
  5. Watching the Bills game and grinding on some hot 'buffalo' wings I made.
  6. I was busting balls with my post about the AR style rifles. I would never be serious about that! I would like to see a pic of Uptown just being in the woods. LOL
  7. 4 deer, no bucks. The g/f is cold so calling it a day. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  8. Chilly 29 degrees. Set the GT g/f up where I sat last week, I went farther down the creek. Been sitting here about an hour now and only seen the same die and fawn so far. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  9. On the road again. Almost to location. Good luck today people. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  10. Just kill the deer you want to kill. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Stop asking people on a web forum what you should shoot. You will get brain washed! Hunt for you, not social media. Hunting isn't about how many Twitter followers you get, or about how many likes to get. It's about hunting.
  11. Hard to see what's going on with the lights glaring off those heads. I did notice the jar of 'natures juice" though. Cheers. Nothing better then a little homemade booze.
  12. This brings up a question. Not to hijack the thread, but this is actually relevant. Why apply for a DMP/s if you don't plan to use it/them? All you do by doing that is make it harder for those of us that would shoot does to get a DMP in some areas.
  13. You seem to have a vast knowledge of all things hunting considering you don't like to hunt. Just sayin'.
  14. Good point as well. The shoot three times in succession to signal for help may not always work. If you are in an area where people rip up the woods with three shots at deer in succession, who's going to know you are in trouble? Or, even worse, there are areas to hunt in NYS where you can be miles deep, no one else around, so no one would hear the shots anyway. Tell people where you will be, and what time you will be home. If they do not hear from you in 2 hours past a check in time, tell them to come looking for you. Hey look, I am not arguing about anything on this. Carry as much ammo as you want. If you feel the need to carry 100 rounds go for it. You might come across aliens or big foot, I hear they don't go down easy.
  15. Very good point Doc. But, that's also why you should learn to use a compass and carry a map in "big woods".
  16. Awesome Biz. Tell your dad congrats from me.
  17. Congrats to those who put deer down today. Not much moving where I was hunting this morning. Still hunted from around 8 till 10, small deer on the other side of a hedge row that never put itself into a position to tell if was a buck or doe. Might have to get one of those 'brush calibers' seeing I have a DPM for this area. Then had to get home and do what I said I would do on Black Friday, put up the Christmas tree and decorations. I was also duped into shopping. Not sure why people get so stupid this time of year in the stores, it's like they pup the dumba$$ pill or something. Anyway....................................... Tomorrow back up north for as long as the g/f can stay warm. Really hoping at least a legal spike walks in front of her. Or me, or both of us, double header would be awesome. But, pulling for her more then myself as this will most likely be her last outing of the season.
  18. Biz, thought you couldn't take time off from work this time of year? Isn't that what you said about helping your dad track the deer he may have hit and he lost it? Still a few weeks left for the late seasons Go get the deer! Giving up now would be like letting an airline tell you they are booked and you cant get to Barbados.
  19. I used to carry to much. The past few years, 3 in the Howa, 3 in the pocket. Not sure why, I will not shoot at a running deer. Then the g/f made me think about something, last Saturday she took two .25-06 bullets from the box. I asked if she wanted more, her reply was this. "NO! If I don't kill the deer on the first shot I am not going to go blasting away in the woods trying to get it with a second while it's running!". I am teaching my padawan well! 1 shot, 1 kill!
  20. Baked a couple bone in chicken breasts tonight. Leftover stuffing from the stuffed pork chops I made last night, and steamed cauliflower and broccoli.
  21. Your dang right! Us folk here in the actual "upstate" region have our share of 'cougars' just you folks out in CNY, WNY, the turd that sticks off NYS, and the ADK's! Let me tell ya, some of them have some very beautiful 'fur' coats. Just don't let them get you into too much Tequila, you won't be able to shoot when the time arrives.
  22. I hope you have a speedy recovery from the surgery. I have always said it's about being outdoors and enjoying is as much as it killing a deer. Last Saturday will be etched into my top 5 hunts. It was the g/f's first actual hunt on private land. On the walk in a doe and her fawn trotted out onto the trail and played for about two or three minutes before just trotting off casually. After they were well out of site over a ridge, I turned around and my g/f was big eyed and a smile from ear to ear. First deer she has seen while actually hunting. Look on her face made the hunt worth it even though we didn't see a buck.
