  1. Pretty sure the bayonet, flash suppressor, and a forward grip ( like a tack grip for the forward hand ) are still banned in NYS. The last change to what was deemed an assault rifle made by he NYSP is still in effect, that was two years ago. When I bought my M&P ( even the .22LR are subject to the bans and laws ) last Spring, I wanted a detachable mag, so I had to deal with the "spur" grip. That was the only way they could legally sell it to me with a detachable mag. They still have to be fully "NYS Compliant" with the safe act. You pick your poison to swallow, deal with a spur grip and detachable mag, use a pistol grip and fixed mag and break open the upper to load and unload ( as stated, more wear and tear then should be needed ), or when asked say, "I am not a fan of Antler Restrictions." and walk away.
  2. Pick up on 12/6. So, I may not be hunting on the 7th.
  3. Made the deal with my g/f that when I bought my new bow, I would buy us a new mattress and box springs. That was taken care of today. Braved the hostilities of shopping Black Friday and got her the set she wanted. While at Sears, they had a pair of Kamik boots on sale from $86 down to $64, and with the points I had acquired the boots cost a mere $55. Rated to -40 so hopefully they work out.
  4. What are you seeing with boots on the ground? Still seeing bucks with a nose up a does a$$? Most folks are still seeing activity. A cam will only show you what happened while you weren't there.
  5. Not a bear. The deer tripped the cam more then once, a bear would have done the same.
  6. I am hoping too. Depends on how much ice we get in my area. I am surrounded by mountains, and even though I may be able to drive to my spot I have for the morning, doesn't mean I will be able to hike a 45 degree mountain side coated with sleet or ice. I might make the treck to TP or BCM, but I have limited time go the AM.
  7. Anti hunter and anti gun nuts aren't welcome in most hunting and gun sites, yet here you are Uptown.
  8. My immediate area in the capitol district in 4B didn't get much at all. A dusting, maybe an inch at most. It's been cold enough to keep it around though. This is what the area I was hunting this afternoon looked like. A little snow, but not much.
  9. CONGRATS TO ALL WHO KILLED DEER! Today was sort of uneventful, climbed to the top of a mountain and sat for an hour. Took a couple pics, but I don't get a web connection from my 3G data plan up there most times, so Tapatalk does me no good. A few ( very few ) fresh tracks, but nothing to get overly worked up about. Was still better to get a couple hours in the woods on a day like this, then sit on the couch during my break from tomorrows hoopla organizing.
  10. Most of the errands are done for tomorrow, gonna head out in a few with the .25-06 and still hunt for the hour or so I have a break. Sun's shining finally so have to get out there if even for a short hunt. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  11. Thought the snow would make this morning better. I was wrong. We only had an inch that was all but gone by noon. It was cold and the wind was irritating to say the least. Did some still hunting to keep warm, but the only part of deer I saw was a flag running away from me. The old 3G network doesn't get great reception in the woods all the time. Tomorrow is supposed to be nice in my area, so back out there.
  12. Then why in the hell did you join a "Hunting Site"? My g/f just got into hunting, and I bet she knows more about hunting already then you ever will! You joined this site just to be disruptive and spew your political BS. Why you don't have a permanent ban is beyond me. Someone who wants to see LEO's killed, and support ISIS are allowed to stay here. Must be the shade of lipstick.
  13. Well, the light snow is falling here in 4B again. Just like it did this morning. There is no major accumulation expected. Hoping for at least an inch. Might be a tough walk with snow in top of wet leaves, hiking up a 45+ at times degree angle in the AM.
  14. I just want it to post something where it was in the woods hunting. I may not post every detail about every day I am in the woods, but this clown hasn't posted squat about being in the woods hunting since it's been here. Well. I am not right on that, it does like to post about breaking the law and violation the DEC regs.
  15. You look like Leatherface from the Texas Chainsaw movies. Just sayin'.
  16. So, it's Sunday. Got anything to share about deer hunting? Or hunting in general? Use anyone else's tags today? Just going by how you say you hunt, I am sure one of your group knocked something down. Oh, wait, yeah, most people on here frown on how you hunt. Makes sense why you have nothing so say in the hunting threads.
  17. I will hunt a snowstorm well before I will hunt even a drizzle of rain! Rain is just a buzz kill, snow is like a wake up. You see the deer better, you can track them for still hunting, and snow makes for much better tracking of a wounded deer.
  18. I have to agree with wooly as well. Light like that through the tree tops is going to be the last specks of light before dark.
  19. Yesterday was a bust. Alarm went off this morning, like a few others I heard pouring rain and went back to sleep. Rain just turned to snow 20 minutes ago in 4B. Only planned to hunt until 9am as have errands to do. Hoping for an evening sit through. Good luck all you lucky people with snow on the ground. Sent from my XT830C using Tapatalk
  20. Of everything you have a link for papist, no link to this? Disappointed in you!
  21. Uptown, how's Sterling Forest looking in the morning for opening day? Looking forward to seeing you post in the "Live From The Woods Thread" with some pics and tales of how your opening day is going. Good luck out there in the morning.
  22. 7mm-08 for me, g/f = .25-06. Already said the ammo for each in two other threads.
  23. Why do you keep calling other people racists, when you are a racist? Seriously!
  24. Goulash. Nice hearty meal before the opener.
