I did look a few articles up yesterday. Including the link you posted. I also found this one yesterday; http://www.environmentalhealthnews.org/ehs/news/lead-in-game-meat I found this particularity interesting: How did they conduct this study to say that it's ammo and not lead paint? There are a lot of kids these days with learning disorders that have probably never been exposed to lead in anyway. So, again; What tests have they done to prove lead ammo causes learning disorders in children?

Most basic lead or copper coated lead bullets start at least $10 below the price of non lead bullets. Example 1 ( current prices at Cabelas ): Rifle - Federal Power Shok 7mm-08 $29.99 / Federal Premium Vital Shok 7mm-08 $39.99. Example 2 Shotgun - Remington Game Load 12ga $5.97 per 25 at Wal-Mart / Rio Bismuth 12ga at Cabelas $26.99 per 10 , Hevi Shot Turkey $22.99-$37.99 per 5. You can get steel shot for less, but it's not recommended in all barrels. Though most newer shotguns should handle it. I would say that's 'proof'. Funny how you addressed and put a challenge to the cost part, but you didn't or can't address this part of my comment.

I went out this morning with the turkey call and did a little scouting for a few hours. We have already made reservations for a cabin camping trip with the g/f's parents for a bass fishing trip. Started planning even more tent camping trips. We are working on a plan to go every weekend it's not nasty weather. Seeing I lost my private land for this season's Spring turkey ( logging issues ), looking at topo maps for two state land areas. Started my personal debate on a new bow or another shotgun. Lots of grilling. Trying to move out of the wretched city! New line on the fishing reels.

What happened to the good old days of a handshake? Written permission is the only way to go these days. It protects both the hunter and the land owner. I also like to know any other people who are hunting the land and have a number to reach them and be in contact so we don't go busting up each others hunts.

I was popping around Youtube. Maybe it's the sound set up I have on my PC or I am not used to hearing it, but glass and blasted glass have an odd sort of almost reverb to them.

I am all for using non toxic ammo. I just can't afford to buy it as my general ammo, as I am sure thousands of others are in the same boat. I don't see prices dropping if demand goes up. I would guess that at least 90% of the time a high demand for something will create a higher price point for consumers. If a consumer wants or needs something they have no choice but to pay inflated prices for it. If I am selling something for $100, and all of a sudden my customer base for that item increases I am not dropping the price. No one trying to make money would. How do they conduct that test that says children who eat wild game a lot are more likely to get learning disorders? Do they give a kid a few dozen venison burgers and then a math test? I am actually not trying to be sarcastic with that question. I would love to know how they determined this.

Thanks for the tips on strikers G-Man and Bill. I always like the pot call because it can produce everything but an actual gobble. Clucks, purrs, yelps, keekee, etc.

What I meant was seeing that IF he does do time it will be like 15 days, if you are a felon that shouldn't really bother you. Drop in the bucket. I agree the fines should have been higher.

Not right now no. I do want to pick up a couple different ones and start using them. In my mid 20's a guy I used to talk to a lot at a local watering hole told me he just used a piece of slate and a cut down of rod plexiglas.

I used the owl call as a locater. Never tried using it to call a bird in.

I smoke so I always have a lighter on me to dry them out. Just have to be careful.

Looks like a great set-up. Hope you knock down a brute this fall with it.

What type do you use ( actual slate, glass, aluminum.. ) and how do you condition the surface and the striker? I have an old ( at least 15 years ) Quaker Boy slate. I always use a small piece of green Scotch Brite for the slate, and just sandpaper for the striker.

I always like the owl call. But with advice from some on here I think I may give the crow call a try this spring.

Well now. This certainly points out that the people in the truck were provoking the authorities. Still doesn't show or make a legitimate view that Lavoy was reaching for a gun. I thought he was saying "Don't shoot me!" from most of the vids I watched and Papist posts. He was actually saying "Go ahead and shoot me, go ahead and shoot me!". It still doesn't explain why they didn't 'box' him in, and it doesn't explain why they kept shooting at a vehicle instead of approaching to secure the vehicle and apprehend the people inside. No one was shooting back from the vehicle. No matter how this is spin, someone f$$$$$ up!
