  1. Glad I'm not alone on that one. I started noticing less fresh sign before I headed north for a week. Not even a lot of fresh tracks in the mud. At this point some snow would show fresh tracks better then the mud.
  2. I like that these can be switched off by just putting them back in the string. I may have to invest in these for next season. Thanks for bringing these to my attention. How can anyone put faith in inlet from a grown man using another grown mans picture for his avatar? I use 'grown' very loosely here. LOL
  3. That was Kimber. They are closing the Yonkers base and moving it to Troy, Alabama.
  4. So if I cut up the deer myself or have my next door neighbor lend a hand or vise versa, I can just offer the sticker that came on the sheath of my last Mora? Hot damn I like that! Maybe the tags off my hunting chairs? They are hunting related at least.
  5. Right here- you said bow season. Second time I quoted this. Uh...........
  6. Even the tags on your clothes and mattress?
  7. I don't have one but, I know a few people who hike the 46 alone all year who swear by them. Is your buddy looking for a personal locator beacon or a satellite messenger type? Some models on both run around $300 plus the monthly service. If it was me I would get the messenger type so people would know whay I was sending the signal. I wouldn't count on a cell phone for this type of thing.
  8. You've been hunting since 10/1 and didn't know what tag to use during the bow season? Just a curious question.
  9. Just slap a sticker on the dead dear and head home. Turkey tag, bear tag, duck stamp............ The bow and ML tags are either Antlerless only or Either Sex. It states what they are on the tag. Crossbow is the last two weeks before the regular season. This page is your best friend to know what tags to use and what the seasons are. https://www.dec.ny.gov/outdoor/28605.html
  10. ^^^^ This all day long! Kim Cattrall was hot back in those days.
  11. I hunted through the rain Wednesday morning with the bow. Had to swap out my water proof winter hat for a cap to keep rain off my glasses. Thursday was a passing shower here and there. Friday was a decent enough though. Opener it was pouring out most of the morning. I did manage to get a couple hours in carry a 20GA pump still hunting in the afternoon. Felt great to be carrying a firearm for deer. I'll be back up in the ADK's this Sunday with my wife for her first hunt of the year. Looking forward to some private land.
  12. Hunted with the bow Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Then got a couple hours in still hunting the gun opener Saturday afternoon. I took my 7mm-08 and my Stevens pump 20, decided to carry the 20 Saturday because I couldn't see more then maybe 60-70 yards in the thick anyway. Warm and rainy most of last week up where I was around Indian Lake. A few breaks here and there with Friday being the best day and no rain. Sunday a cold front moved in so I bet they were moving pretty good with partly clear skies to boot. Check out time was 10AM so I had to pack things up to come home. Heard a whole lot of shooting on Friday. I didn't know they made rapid fire muzzle loaders. I need to look into one of those.
  13. Packing up the car and heading to the ADK's for a week. No internet, no TV, and no news! Fire pits, wood stoves, hunting, hiking, great food, mountain views, lake views, woods views, and wetting lines. Long over due and much needed!
  14. Another thread bites the dust do to MF'n politics.
  15. Only if it rains that day.
  16. Those are some bad ass bows you have there! Who makes the 7MM Mag? Must be Bowtech or Diamond. The '06 must come from Mathews, just your run of the mill bows they sell at Dunkin Doughnuts. The Mauser must be from Elite. On a serious note that sounds like a solid day spending time with your son.
  17. Not exactly the same situation, but close enough........... My wife and I rented the same cabin we did last year for this year. Plenty of new rules and nuances this year. We have to bring a lot of our own items this year. I'm fine with that. I have some health issues I didn't have last year, so being a cabin others have rented we will be cleaning everything with Lysol as soon as we get there. I've spent enough time in the hospital this year, I'm not going back because I got C19 from someone else. We will wear masks when we go to stores for supplies, but not in the cabin, not hiking, and the only reason I'll be wearing a mask while hunting is because I'll be hunting the first 4 days with my bow and I tend to wear some sort of face covering most of the time anyway. For you, it's your cabin so you know who's been there and who hasn't. I would still do a cleaning if it was me though. Other then that this is all about how you feel with the situation. If your seriously concerned I wouldn't go. Anxiety and hunting may not be the best companions.
  18. That's the voting box for Biden supporters. I'm sure they won't be happy about this being posted to the public.
  19. New poop wet, old poop dry. I hear if they taste like a raisinet it's a young doe, if they taste like a Milk Dud it's a mature buck. I have yet to test this theory. As mentioned, others stomping around on public land leaving stink behind is par for the coarse. But also, you stomping around will leave your stink in the woods. Perfect case for catch 22. Still hunting with a gun is a skill, doing it with a bow is about 5 times more difficult. I would try and learn these things before the season starts, but if you don't know the lay of the land scouting while hunting is all one can do.
