  1. Picked this up today on clearance for $15. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  2. Porcupine Carcass. It's what's for dinner.
  3. I have my UI set up now for the most part, I can get to things I need with one click. I also did a test with CMD to ping sites to see if they are live. Have my GFX software installed and the main software on the SSD is reading from the EHD perfectly, a little tricky setting up the paths, but I got it done. Now I just need to tweak the GFX card to accept the HD TV I use as a monitor for true HD images.
  4. There are no clear cut and dry answers to your questions. I will say you need to put more time in boots on the ground scouting public land then private. Trail cams might help, but on public land, just because you have a big buck on cam, doesn't mean someone else isn't out for that same buck and have him on their cams. You need to figure out how you want to hunt a specific parcel of public land. How much pressure from other hunters, should help you decide how far back you need to go. You should also make damn sure you know the boundary lined of public land, and if need be, at least try to get recovery rights on private land. I have camped on public land and hunted. You need to make sure that land allows camping. many WMA's do not allow camping, while most state land will allow it. As I said, all your questions depend on circumstance for the area you want to hunt. We can't honestly state what you can and cannot do in every area of the state. You need to do your homework for areas you want to hunt.
  5. OK, let me explain a bit more. My PC's take a huge amount of usage due to my GCI software, and other GFX software. My old PC just wasn't on par for the IRay render engine ( or a couple others ). So my wife bought me a new PC. The SSD should speed up render times with the specs I have now, but I need to set up the software to read and load content from directories on the External HD ( EHD ). It came with Windows 10, and most OS's come with a bunch of crap someone like me doesn't need. MS seems to really go over board on what THEY think people need or want. Tweaking this and that, I have gotten things as close to a UI that fits me as I think I can. Now, onto installing the EHD, EDVD/CD-R, and then porting my GFX software over the the EHD.
  6. So I hooked up the new PC tonight. Going on 6 hours trying to get a solid configuration. Configuring W10 is comparable to, asking a choice to stick your hand in a blender or cut it off with a chainsaw. I'm getting things under control somewhat, but then when asked to restart, all that crap I don't want or need that I deleted is back. This will be fun!
  7. Bluegill? No. Something the SY FY channel would use in a horror flick, absolutely. Just busting balls.... You are getting good with those saws. I will admit, I miss your photos, but do like seeing what you carve out these days.
  8. Happy Birthday Wolc! Hope it was a great day with family and friends.
  9. Homemade pizza and wings. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  10. Wife hand made me some lures from crushed pennies, and got me a new PC. iBUYpower ARC 031A, external HD and DVD/CD R will be here Friday. Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk
  11. Sounds like you don't get the "Spirit Of Christmas". Be thankful they try and think of you even if they don't get you what you want. Sorry to be testy, but c'mon, this is the season to think of others, not ourselves. You don't always get what you want, but you should respect the people who took time to at least buy you something. So far, I got a Realtree sweatshirt from the 'Secret Santa' thing we did, a box of jerky and buffalo peanuts from Beef Jerky Outlet, a bottle of 'Slap Ya Mamma' hot sauce, a custom wine decanter and glasses etched with our names on them, some customized coffee cups for the wife and I, and some nick nacks ( nick nacks that we are not fond of, but will proudly display every Christmas going forward ). What have the wife and I bought for one another? Tomorrow will tell.
  12. This the link to Robins YouTube channel. The last vid was some serious shit, especially at the end. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQtANjoD0q3vqzQVFGRBWSQ/videos
  13. That's what I want to know and even made a comment that once it's "donated" to the GOV, it still had to go through legislation. I give up. Carry on people. And on, and on, and on, and on, and on........ Merry FN Christmas!
  14. That may be it, but he stated he enjoyed doing it. It's not easy filming in any woods while trying to hunt. I enjoy/enjoyed his videos, very well done. I could almost smell the fire from that wood burning stove in his wall tent. I was just concerned about a fellow hunter, so I made the thread.
  15. What part of this don't you understand? They will find a way in, no matter what we do. All that crap you just posted proves I'm right. Most of your data is about the border for Mexico. Criminals are coming in from more then just that border. I am not going to rehash my words. So maybe we need to put a wall around this entire country. Here's a thought, lets get the Dems on board and so everyone can be taxed for this wall that will do no good. Air plains can fly over walls, and bad people and bad thins get into this country vie air all the time. Wish I could live in a fantasy world, but I don't. You can't make this country "Barbi's Dream House!". Deal with it!
  16. So, say this fund raises a Trillion dollars, it's given to the GOV, who then still has to vote on "The Wall", which will have the same outcome as always from the libtards, and gets voted down. Here's a question... How pissed off are people going to be then? I have never really believed in this "Wall" issue. They will just find another way to get in. Seriously, why is that so hard for people to understand? Am I the only one who pays attention? These a$$+o*7$ are coming in through Canada, Florida, NYC, and even the upper areas of the mid-west. So please, someone explain how this 'wall' will prevent anything? I would rather the POTUS started sticking to a more realistic process of defending or 2A rights. Because that wall won't work, and we need to be able to defend ourselves from the scum trying to take this country down.
  17. He didn't post his usual video this year. I know he mentioned having some health issues. Just curious if any of you had actually made contact with him outside of this site and know if hes doing OK.
  18. Sounds like you have it down, and new traditions are always great. We have three dinners each year ( well ones actually more of a lunch ), and the menus vary. Two years ago we started having a X-Mas dinner here at my home. First year I made a ham with the usual fixins. As for appetizers, I went with summer sausage as well, with a few cracker choices and 4 cheeses, that summer sausage went a lot better then the usual pepperoni. The main appetizer was a roll, I got a few packs of the ready make crescent rolls, I didn't separate them, rolled them up with marinara-mozz cheese-hot italian sausage, and baked them for 20 minutes. Both rolls were gone in less then a half hour. This year I made two pans of lasagna for my family gathering at my house using our homemade sauce. I had 1/2 pan left from 5 people. Apps were just summer sausage, crackers, and like 5 cheeses. I have no idea what's going on for my wifes family party, the only thing I know is there's a turkey being roasted. We were asked to bring a pickle platter, I'm good with that! For the wife and I on X-Mas day, we would go to a nice restaurant we would not usually go to. This year- we are doing homemade pizzas and wings, and just staying home.
  19. I know that. I knew that when I bought the M&P. I know all of the things it can't have with spur and no pin. I also know I don't need most of the accessories, when I am starting to look at the old school style.
  20. Good thing Biz wasn't there. That is a bunch of feather, fin, and fur masters right there, no trips to the Bahamas during hunting season. J/K Biz.. Looks like you all had a great time. Next meet up should be a fishing-or-hunting-or-camping- trip.
  21. I actually put some serious thought into the .458 SOCOM. My reason for not going that route is ammo availability. I shoot factory ammo, so that puts me in a different scenario then those who reload. So, I decided that I wan't to go .223. Been doing some research, and you can get some solid factory loads for deer in that caliber these days. I think I have decided I do not want to pin the mag, unless that's my only real options for which way I go. I really don't need to have flashlights or any other things added at this point. I would rather start off with the spur and then if the need arises go ahead and pin the mag to add accessories. Now, please hear me out on this before bashing me. I have shot more then a few squirrels with my M&P 15 .22LR with a spur grip, and I never shoot at running game ( exception- small game with the shotgun), they never knew the difference, and I can hold a steady aim. The aesthetics suck, but, for now, I can think I can live with that. Also, I am thinking about not going with rails for the hand guard, but rather a classic AR look. I'm even thinking a classic AR style buttstock. It's a lot to consider and think out. For now, I already have a set of iron sites ( actually, I think they are SS with a black anodized coating ), that I bought for my M&P that will work for now. Any glass I put on top will take more consideration. I love the feedback coming in on this, and the more I read the more I am learning. So thank you to everyone chiming in and offering advice on this thread.
  22. I really can't 'sum-up' my season. In many ways it sucked! But there were some high points as well. Crappy weather all but killed my bow season. Some areas I like to hunt were under water then iced over with the cold, deer weren't moving in the areas I had patterned them in. The gun seasons? Had some highlights, and again some lows. Jumping a doe withing 40 yards of me still hunting made me realize, just because it looks clear, doesn't mean it is. I loved being out there, I loved getting the wife out there teaching her more. I had the privilege of being able to hunt, and I saw deer, I let a few get a pass, I froze my ass off on a few bow hunts in the late season, and I still have a hard time using my left hand, I'm guessing a slight bit of frostbite. ( Using a tennis ball to get the strength back ) So I really can't sum up my season as some would. I hunted, I did not hunt as hard this season as in the past, but I did get out there whenever I could. Now to focus on next season. A week at IL next October, and I think I will do a few days at Schodack Island this year camping/hunting the bow season. I thought about this a couple years ago, and bailed, but I think I will do it for 2019.
  23. Yeah, Albany County won't be so forgiving. I don't like living this close to Andy's second largest fan base. But, it is what it is, and I don't see me going anywhere. The wife's all about family, and I respect that. Back and forth with the mag issue. I just have to sit down and really think about what I will use the rifle for. Going AR10 in .308 even on a build will be out of my price range. So, I am going .223. Not the best deer round, but can and will kill deer if I do my part. Like I said, after the holidays I can sit down and put far more thought into this. I honestly do appreciate the feedback.
