I'll take bugs over the mass slaughter on my 2A rights anytime. There are ways to deal with bugs, but it seems Cuomo is impervious to anything.

Are we discussing this Bill? https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2017/s9191

This state has a lot to offer for outdoor minded people. Some great hunting and fishing, there are some awesome hiking trails in this state, and there's some great camping as well. Right now, what keeps me here? My wife! After the re-election of Cuomo, I started looking hard at moving to Maine. The wife thought I was kidding, I wasn't. I was informed she isn't moving. So here I am. I hate the taxes, politics, and gun laws in this MF'n state! Looks I'm not going anywhere though. At this time! Cuomo makes a run for POTUS, I may just haul ass out of this country, with or without the wife.

GET READY FOR SAFE ACT II
DirtTime replied to Larry's topic in Gun and Hunting Laws and Politics Discussions
WTF planet are you from! Are you actually saying anyone who drinks beer is mentally ill? I think you are mentally ill! Go hunting for a change and stop with your constant flow of shit that would make a septic tank explode! What did anyone expect from Cuomo? You can blame all the major cities and their take on gun control and letting violent illegal immigrants into this state! If you voted Blue, you allowed this! If you voted Independent, you allowed this! Here's the big question! Where is the NRA or any of those other Pro A2 organizations now? They don't seem to be on your side now do they? -
I got it in for testing. Alt is good, battery was bad. Bought a new battery and put in today when the rain stopped. Fires up just fine now. Was suggested, like a few have mentioned there's a bad wire/short somewhere. Just hoping to baby through the holiday season, and then get it in to see where the short is.

I have tried to more or less stay off this thread this season. As a Bills fan I feel more discouraged then ever! 4 starting QB's this season! 2 on the roster and two brought in off the street! We all know Peterman is no better then Crapspatrick, Allen showed some spark and talent, then got injured. THEN! Anderson ( fucking joke! ( sorry for language ))! Barkley's decimation of the Jets was a fluke! Bills need to keep Allen the starter and mold him and set the offense around him. With that said............ Two best teams in the NFL right now are the Chiefs and the Saints IMO! The way things are going that would be an epic Superbowl match up!

Apparently you do care, or you wouldn't have taken time to post this link. Seeing you don't care what I think, I don't think you hunt. I think you are a troll.

Thank you for looking out brother. I am always careful in those areas. I am no expert, but sure not my first rodeo. I have a year to plan this out, and I am looking at every detail. I will not be hunting around any trails, or at least marked trails, so maps and a really good compass with be on me at all times. I am also refreshing myself on how to use them, at times we get complacent after hunting the same spot for years, but I'm not stupid, every bit of intel I can scout, every map I can get my hands on, is being utilized. I can't fully prepare for an injury, but I am trying. The same way I used too. Just having some fun planning this trip at the same time. The wife's never been in any camp when I have eaten three bowls of chili, and three beers before. LOL!

Very sorry for your loss. There are times loosing a beloved pet is harder to handle then loosing a friend. Pets just get inside that special place in our heart and soul that nothing else can.

Been looking at maps all day ( no wheels, so working on prep for deer camp next year ). I'm thinking most of my hunting will be done in the West Canada Lake Wilderness North of Lewey Lake. Have to look at better light weight packs, nothing big, just better then what I have now. Just enough for a FA Kit, a few bottles of water, and a sandwich or 5 ( I get hungry, LOL ). I thought about one of those actual pop-up blinds a while back, but realized that would be a waste of money, the added weight just wasn't something I wanted to haul. Doesn't matter whether I will carry a bow or a rifle, most of the trip will be more still hunting then sitting.

Official Hunting Black Friday Thread
DirtTime replied to Five Seasons's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Curtis lumber has a sale on 2X's. Just have to build the stand. That count? -
What we need are hunters who join a hunting forum to actually support hunting! Not just sound off in the damn political section!

Official Hunting Black Friday Thread
DirtTime replied to Five Seasons's topic in Hunting Gear Reviews and Gear Discussions
Not sure it will be Black Friday.........But I have a bad feeling I will run up my credit not only to fix my Jeep, but to buy a new AR. Does that count? -
This! This right here!

This morning was odd as hell. Plenty of tracks in the snow. Not a deer sighted! Plenty of other fresh sign near the camp site, scat, and even a new scrape. Set the wife up and then I walked a back ridge looking for a good set for next Sunday. Found an area leading into the swamp and thick stuff with a very well used trail I hand't notices before, I thank the snow for this one. Next Sunday I want to try and get her set up back there.

State land challenge let's see some pictures
DirtTime replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
I'm not even on board with the theory of this one. There are state and public lands that don't have a kiosk or even a sign at all the parking areas. Hell, a few places I know don't even have a parking area! Not all the trails are marked on every peice of state land either, only those hit hard by hikers-dog walkers-nordic skiers............. I'm not dragging a deer out of the woods, loading in the back of a vehicle, then driving to a place that has a sign to show where I shot it. -

You first! No mug shot it doesn't count! -
Anyone on here have actual hands on experience with this rifle? WNYBuckHunter got me thinking with the new rig for Yote's. I really want an AR that's not .22LR. I started looking up prices to do build, and came across a couple road blocks. 1, I do not have the tools and bench rest with clamps to get the lower assembled. So I dug a little deeper to what I could come up with. 2, Apparently you cannot buy a pre-assembled lower in NYS, even decades before the "Unsafe Act". Then I came across the Diamondback. Pretty new company, stared in 2009 with hand guns, and then got into the AR platform in 2012. The only bad thing I can find about the DB in more resent years is it doesn't like to cycle steel casings, but brass runs fine. So.....................Again................. Anyone on here have actual hands on experience with this rifle?

Nice deer and congrats! Any deer killed is a reason to be proud. You had a successful hunt and meat in the freezer! Now I have to check the "What's For Dinner" thread to see if you cooked up that heart!

You left out a bobcat taken.

What time you getting up for opening day tomorrow?
DirtTime replied to Hunter007's topic in General Chit Chat
Legal shooting time is 6:49AM for me. So up by 5, drive out to first choice area, hope the the parking areas are plowed, if so set over looking a small marsh. If not off to spot two, hoping that parking area is plowed. In spot two, according to what they say about wind direction, I get to hunt the top of a mountain with an actual 360* view. Only have a couple hours as I have to use the wifes vehicle and she has $hit to do. -
Tape measure said just over 5". PITA trying to read it. We had some rain mixed in over night. So that compressed it a bit. I would say maybe 7" total. I hate this wet mushy snow, the snowblower clogs up so it's using the shovel. My back loves that! Should be a good opening morning for the regular season tomorrow. Still trying t work out how to at least get an hour or two in.
-
Whatca got so far for snow accumulation? Took the tape measure out about 30 minutes ago and it read a little over 4" 's. I would say thats pretty accurate as the snow is even with the top of my bottom step which is 4-1/4 inched from the ground. Guessing the measurement from the news is at least an inch different, probably 3". I guess my snow is bigger then theirs.
-
It starts now with a few real low turns, then fires. I do not realize, those $50 chargers suck a$$ though. Just not enough confidence to take anywhere I have to shut it off. Time to make an appointment with my mechanic I guess. Neighbor doesn't have the proper tools to test everything.

any one else excited about snow opening day of firearms as I
DirtTime replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Calling for 3-6" in my area. Can't say I am looking forward to it or not. I love hunting in the snow. Easier to to pick the deer out. Just not looking forward to shoveling it. Grounds not frozen yet to it's going be a sloppy wet mess.
