It starts now with a few real low turns, then fires. I do not realize, those $50 chargers suck a$$ though. Just not enough confidence to take anywhere I have to shut it off. Time to make an appointment with my mechanic I guess. Neighbor doesn't have the proper tools to test everything.

any one else excited about snow opening day of firearms as I
DirtTime replied to rob-c's topic in General Chit Chat
Calling for 3-6" in my area. Can't say I am looking forward to it or not. I love hunting in the snow. Easier to to pick the deer out. Just not looking forward to shoveling it. Grounds not frozen yet to it's going be a sloppy wet mess. -
I wasn't sure last night what I would carry if I get out. Decided this afternoon on the Howa 7mm-08.
-
Yes. I will do that when my wife is around so I can use the front of my home to test. My lawn is like a massive swamp these days, and I really don't want to drive a 2000# Jeep across it.
-
So for those going out for the regular season opener in the SZ what are you carrying? Lets see some pics of you with your choice of weapon! Grow a pair and lets see what you are heading out with.

Sister is a, um, well, not sure how to post this on here. Has fake boobs and a twig and berries if you know what I mean. Don't you watch You Tube? LMAO! OK, lets get back to serious. Clues on what to with this electrical situation for my Jeep?

Best of luck to you Bill! I hope you kill a nice buck.

Super secret tires! Can't give the link. I know a guy, who knows a guy, that has a cousin, who knows a guy, that his sister knows a chick, that knows a guy....
-
No need! I have an ESB port in all my tires that takes all the hot air from web sites and converts it automatically.

Many of the "deer camps" I have had were just tents in the woods. So Dinty Moore Beef Stew or Hormel Chili was a big thing for dinners. Then we got into the freeze dried stuff, I don't remember the brand, but one had a spaghetti with meat sauce that was great, as well as a seafood chowder that was pretty good. Deer camps before that were when I was too young to hunt deer, but old enough to help put on drives. The camp was called "The Big House", always venison chili, venison stew, beef stew, and turkey soup. Next season, even though I will be 'renting' a cabin for a few days ( still deer camp to me ), we are taking the slow cooker and not sured what's planned yet. I am sure chili, some stews, and if it's not freezing a chicken cooked over camp fire coals. Who knows.

Actually started up like late August. A bit sluggish then boom, motor was running.
-
I'm leaning that way as well. I'm thinking wire or alternator. Doesn't seem the starter or soleniod. When those have gone bad in the past it was much different from what's going on now. No I didn't put the battery in myself, it was done in shop. No corrosion on posts or the terminal ends. No lights left on or jars ajar. I think it might be low inner tire fluid. Yes, that's what I mean by "whir----whir----". I went out today and though it was slow and ugly, it did actually fire up. I let it run for about 15 minutes, then took a 20 minute drive to try and charge things back up. waited an hour, and it started, but was still slow and ugly. Actually, I think I'll try it now.
-
I know that may not make sense, but as the temps warmed up it was reliable. When the wet weather hit, it got wonky again.
-
Connections are clean. Battery was dead, replaced via warranty. Alternator was good. Bought a charger. I am not sure the reading from the alt test were factual. I think it has a core malfunction and draining the battery, or a wiring issue, but like I said, I don't know jack about this stuff. Through the warmer weather it was OK, started getting that "whir---whir----vroom in late August. Got worse and worse.

Last Spring on opening day of turkey season, my Jeep once again had a hissy fit, I have posted about it, so not going to re-hash. This morning I got the same "whir--whi--------wh---------------------nothing, then that dreaded click-click of a bad alternator. Will be talking to the neighbor who does some small work for us and have him run some tests and diagnostics. I am no mechanic, and I will be honest, I know almost nothing about working on cars. What I thought, if it's the alternator, the vehicle will usually not start with a jump, if it does, it will not start again after you turn it off. If it's just the battery, the car will start with a jump, but then start up will be weak. Anyone have any insight here?

My rifles were out and checked early September, alls good. 7MM-08 right on 1/4" high at 50, .25-06 about an 1/8" left and 1/2" high at 50. I have to check these things early as I hunt the NZ Regular season alot most years on private land. I even put a few slugs through the shotgun to no avail, even with the IMPCY choke I bought, the best is still a 10" group of five slugs. Way out of what I would shoot at a deer with. If I am out Saturday it will only be for a few hours in the morning.

Never made it. I had all I could do to get to the living room after I shut off the alarm at ( after a hit the 'snooze' once) a little after 4AM. If you ever want to feel your lowest, have physical/medical issues that impact the people around you. The wife wasn't upset, she knows how my back is. But I still felt like a piece $H** not getting her in the woods seeing she has limited time to hunt.

My wife and I bicker about this all the time. She wants water front, I want woods, and at least 50 acres of land. I would be happy with 50 acres of land in the mid to upper ADK's, and just put a camper on the land. Maintain the camper and keep registrations up to date they cannot tax for it. Out house would be implemented. There are so many variables when it comes to setting up a camp it's not even funny. I would want to use it all year, as I said a minimum of 50 acres of land, get to know my neighbors for possible hunting rights and definitely retrieval rights! I don't see you getting much land for 50K with the space to build on for a hunting camp. At least not for what you seem to have imagined for your camp. You might get a wood lot of maybe 20 acres, but then you will have to clear an area even for a camper. That will cost some cash. Digging a well, setting up septic, more cash. I don't mean to a be a jerk, but a hunting camp should be rustic. No need for an 80" TV, a hot spot for cell service, or running water. It's a deer camp, not a hotel or a spa. I wish you the best of luck finding what you seek.

Tacos. Mighty Taco Sauce is good. Nice lingering heat but not overbearing. Good stuff ! Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

I guess this thread may turn into a journal of sorts. Heading back up in the morning. Buddy sent me a text, they have two inches of snow up there. Alarm is set for 4AM. My back is screaming after helping the in-laws move again this year. So I will have to wait until the alarm goes off to estimate how my back feels, and the wifes ankle. Hunting a different spot, as long as our bodies and the wind cooperate. Good luck to anyone hunting in the morning!

Got home a little while ago from moving inlaws and this awesome package was in the mail box. Thank you Jay!! Sent from my SM-S327VL using Tapatalk

Dude, FU! You come in here posting about poaching and trespassing from the get go, I think it was like your third or fourth post about hunting an un-posted plot of private land you have no permission to hunt. You keep posting about it like your proud. What members are catching on to what?? The ones who are starting to see YOU as a poacher and trespasser? Yes they are. Here's an idea! That Storm914 dude has an infatuation with the ADK's, maybe the two of you can get on the same page and do a turkey hunt up North. If memory serves me right, you have never been in the Dacks, so it would be a challenge for the both of you. Have a nice night.

If they remove this thread then, they should remove all the threads you have posted about trespassing and poaching that "Secret Spot" you have posted.
