I'm not even reading all the replies to this thread. Here's my view, any hunter who has the balls to post them being in the woods whether they kill a deer or not. The men and women on here who post about being in the woods rather then asking questions to get view count ( I did that when I was stupid ). I don't care who you are, the best hunters are the hunters who post about being in the woods! Doesn't matter if they fill a tag, they share the journey! Rack scores don't mean shit to me! Post up pics of the journey, and if you kill a deer the end result. But, If I had to put a tag on who is the best single hunter on this site, It would be Larry ( Lawdwaz ). Always kills deer every season. Another would be Growie, but we all chased her off, and she's not accepting apologies.

Not sure how to take this thread. After readin the whole thing before logging in, I tried a web search for the DEC/ENCON can do pertaining to private land. I thought there was a NOTE that they could enter private with a 'probable Clause', but I can't find that anymore, so I would tell DEC to bugger off. Now, I also want to make a comment about the baiting issues in NYS. A few years back, my wife and I were doing a little hiking in Thacher Park ( I have mentioned this several times now ), I was mainly doing some scouting for deer hunting, in one area I see what looks like a fire pit with some sort of crap tossed into it. I took a few pics, then realized, "Is this deer bait?" ( yes, I am that stupid because I had never seen it in the woods before). My mind shifts, must be a cam then, I turn a 180* and there's the cam! We came home and I posted about the incident, and posted the pics in here. The very next day grampy and I went out to the area and I showed him where it was, trail cam was gone. I stopped into the old Ranger station at that time, and they literally laughed at me when I told them I found a bait pile. Nice right? I found a couple more over that season and the following, never bothered saying a word, it's a local area run by locals, including, the Rangers. I just won't hunt there any more! Some good deer in there, but I'm not taking the wrap for some lowlifes who can't get it done legally. Plenty of public land around me, no need to put myself in a $hitty situation. They drop the bait, I shoot a deer in the area, something goes funky, and BAM, it's all on me! No thanks!

If the land owner owns 100 acres and I am allowed to hunt it, than that's how many acres of private land I hunt. It's not rocket science.

Oh, I actually made a video of this morning's hunt, the wifes not in it, and it's not great, but it does show the deer sign we had around us, and it has my ugly mug making a small commentary if anyone's interested.

So today was the wifes last day out. We see didn't anything up North, but man was there a lot of sign in the area we were hunting this morning. Tracks everywhere! The plan was hunt until 10:00AM and see how that goes. The wife sat on a stump using my heat seat, but the clothing on the back of her legs got soaked ( she was using my hot pad seat ). Temps were hovering around 24-30* and no wind, great conditions, but the hunt wasn't worth her getting frostbite, wet clothes and below freezing temps are not a great combo, so we called it at 9:30AM. I have to work setting up and taking down my blinds over the Summer. If I can get the take down of those damn things under control I can get her in more spots on that land. So, plan for her next season, better boots, a good hunting chair she actually likes and is comfy in, get take down of our blinds under control, and have plenty of propane for the Buddy Heater for her.

That's what I am wondering.
