  1. Yes Biz you're right................. But for all intentional purposes, I think you know what I'm pointing out. I found a bunch of rubs and a couple scrapes that were very fresh last Saturday.

    New Guy

Welcome!!! Another capitol region guy!!! Look forward to hearing more from ya!
  3. Will you be going to NYC if they play the Yankees in the world series?
  4. Welcome Ryan! Do you hunt in 4-H? Schoharie isn't that far from me. Glad you joined us. Best of luck to you this season!
  5. OK, the time of the year all deer hunters look forward to, is going to start to ramp up soon!!! Whitetail Rut ! Post here, any rutting observations and activity you see while out and about. It is always very interesting to see and hear, what others are seeing locally, and across the state of New York, with the rutting activity being observed.

    FISHDO

Welcome! Any friend of Rob's, is a friend of mine! Good to have ya here! Hope you have a great hunting season too.
  7. You are absolutely right! And there have been times where I used two and thought......oh boy, what if...??? And like Larry said, having back ups to your backups is not a bad thing. But for myself, carrying only three, helps to reaffirm my shot selection process. To make the best shot possible, with the first one, or let em walk.
  8. Quiver on my crossbow and compound only holds three arrows. In about 40 years of bowhunting, I've never needed more than three. I do always have a couple extra in my truck, to replace any that may get used.
  9. Yankees haven't won anything yet!!! It ain't over till it's over!! No matter who they play in the league series, or if they make it to the world series, they will be up against a great team! Bad teams don't make it this far. And games need to be played and won to move on. That said...................LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!
  10. Welcome! Glad you finally got with us, and happy to have you here! Looking forward to hearing more from ya! Best of luck this season!
  11. That was great! Welcome! Just pull up a seat and join right in anytime! Best of luck to ya this season!
  12. Nice prizes! But I don't do the Facebook thingy.
  13. Site was down for a bit this afternoon. I was honestly hoping this site wasn't being closed down. Heck, I'll pay all of ya for what you ordered, if it keeps this place up and going! There has to be a legitimate reason for the stuff not going out. I really don't think burmjohn is out to screw anyone! And I'm sure he's well off enough to not need the few bucks to get by!
  14. So cool looking! I've never seen one like her before. No way could I shoot her either.
  15. Nice buck, but 130 is stretching it just a tad I think? But regardless of score, I hope you get to lay hands on him! My feeling has always been, score is just some numbers written on a page. Not the most important aspect when I'm deciding to shoot or not.
  16. It's not too unusual to have a mature doe or two cycle early, before the majority of doe each year. This can lead to a trail of many bucks following her. And a great opportunity for any hunter, who is lucky enough to be close by! And it doesn't last but a couple of days. Moon phase doesn't really trigger estrous in the doe. That is my belief. As the main breeding period happens at the same time each year. Regardless of moon phase.
  17. Do we have a roadkill dinner thread???? Good going Nicky, they sure are tasty, and you didn't let it go to waste. I don't swerve for critters either, but I will give them a brake.
  18. Happy Birthday!!! Hope this day brings you all the joys of family, friends, and good food!!!
  19. OK.....went back out tonight and placed a sheet of paper on the back of the target. And the blades obviously opened! These shoot very accurate too! I am no longer disappointed. And my confidence is restored! If I do hunt with my crossbow this year. I'm certain these heads will work fine, if I put it where it needs to go. Thanks again for the help guys!!
  20. Will see what I come up with. I'd be happy to send you something to work on!
  21. Score is.......that buck one..........you....zip...... Hope you make the final point! Good luck!
  22. Shoot what you like. Like what you shoot. If he should happen to live another year? He'll pack on many more pounds, and inches of antler, by this time next fall. Now? A two year old, that will dress out at 125 pounds.
  23. Quiver never comes off. Practice, hunting, walking. I don't even think about it being there, cause it always is. And being a ground hunter, it's almost like added 'cover' attached to the bow arm?
  24. I can still hunt the exact spot, that I hunted for the first time 46 years ago. We still call it 'Dug Hill' as did the old timers before us. A primitive logging road was carved, "dug" out of the side of the hill, to bring up the oaks from below, through the hemlocks, and around a small swamp above. This was done long before I was born. At the bottom of Dug Hill, is a stonewall fence line that came to a corner, or 90 degree angle. With some of the stones piled in the corner, in the shape of a seat that someone made probably decades before I ever sat there. The classic transition, between hardwoods and hemlocks on a bench of the side hill. And if I were to guess, dozens and dozens of deer had been shot from that spot, by some old guys that were my mentors. And a few by me alone over the years, including my very first. It was an honor, and right of passage when the old guys let you sit that spot! That property was bought by the state 20 or so years ago, to expand Thatcher Park, and borders our property. But I still make my way down there each year to sit on that pile of stones that are still stacked there. To hear the whispered voices through the trees. And to pay homage to the ones who sat there before me. And wonder who may sit there after me.
