Bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning! Going back to the lake property where I was covered in deer a week ago. Grandson not hunting this weekend. So grampy goes solo! Good luck everyone! -
Congratulations! Ya done real good! And did the best you could with the meat. Though she looks pretty clean in the picture. Each deer will get easier, and you will learn more from each one as well. You should be proud of yourself! Way to go!

Makes perfect sense to me? But I don't know if he's thinking about a nice buck at this time?.....lol Like I said , I've never put any pressure on him to go. And won't start now. We'll have our time.

Good luck to all the youth hunters and their mentors this weekend!!!! Got more info on my youth hunter. If they win the game tonight no practice on Sunday. They are leading at half time 34 to 0.. He's playing like he's possessed ! A sack and a bunch of tackles on D. And opening huge holes for the backs on O. But.....if there is no practice, he will be taking a cheerleader to fright fest! What??? C'mon man! LOL !!!! Hey I get it. I was a young buck once too.

Just got word that football has canceled the youth hunting weekend for us. grampy goes solo........sigh...

Full moon. Hunt at noon. -
You can just trim that hard stuff off. Since you shot her on Sunday, you should start thinking about preparing the meat for the freezer. Are you going to do some ground meat for burgers? Some cutlets from the back straps? A small roast for the crock pot? Congratulations on the doe! And welcome to the forum!

Yes Biz you're right................. But for all intentional purposes, I think you know what I'm pointing out. I found a bunch of rubs and a couple scrapes that were very fresh last Saturday.
-
Welcome!!! Another capitol region guy!!! Look forward to hearing more from ya!
-
Will you be going to NYC if they play the Yankees in the world series?
-
Welcome Ryan! Do you hunt in 4-H? Schoharie isn't that far from me. Glad you joined us. Best of luck to you this season!

OK, the time of the year all deer hunters look forward to, is going to start to ramp up soon!!! Whitetail Rut ! Post here, any rutting observations and activity you see while out and about. It is always very interesting to see and hear, what others are seeing locally, and across the state of New York, with the rutting activity being observed.

Welcome! Any friend of Rob's, is a friend of mine! Good to have ya here! Hope you have a great hunting season too.
-
You are absolutely right! And there have been times where I used two and thought......oh boy, what if...??? And like Larry said, having back ups to your backups is not a bad thing. But for myself, carrying only three, helps to reaffirm my shot selection process. To make the best shot possible, with the first one, or let em walk.

Quiver on my crossbow and compound only holds three arrows. In about 40 years of bowhunting, I've never needed more than three. I do always have a couple extra in my truck, to replace any that may get used.

Yankees haven't won anything yet!!! It ain't over till it's over!! No matter who they play in the league series, or if they make it to the world series, they will be up against a great team! Bad teams don't make it this far. And games need to be played and won to move on. That said...................LETS GO YANKEES!!!!!!
-
Welcome! Glad you finally got with us, and happy to have you here! Looking forward to hearing more from ya! Best of luck this season!
-
That was great! Welcome! Just pull up a seat and join right in anytime! Best of luck to ya this season!

Nice prizes! But I don't do the Facebook thingy.
-
Site was down for a bit this afternoon. I was honestly hoping this site wasn't being closed down. Heck, I'll pay all of ya for what you ordered, if it keeps this place up and going! There has to be a legitimate reason for the stuff not going out. I really don't think burmjohn is out to screw anyone! And I'm sure he's well off enough to not need the few bucks to get by!
-
So cool looking! I've never seen one like her before. No way could I shoot her either.
-
Nice buck, but 130 is stretching it just a tad I think? But regardless of score, I hope you get to lay hands on him! My feeling has always been, score is just some numbers written on a page. Not the most important aspect when I'm deciding to shoot or not.

It's not too unusual to have a mature doe or two cycle early, before the majority of doe each year. This can lead to a trail of many bucks following her. And a great opportunity for any hunter, who is lucky enough to be close by! And it doesn't last but a couple of days. Moon phase doesn't really trigger estrous in the doe. That is my belief. As the main breeding period happens at the same time each year. Regardless of moon phase.
