Mostly youngsters Jay. Two lady hunters, and two active duty military. And some 20 to 30 something guys. Also one grandfather who wants to start bow hunting with his grandson. He and I talked a bit during breaks, great guy. The grandson took the course as well.

Thanks my friend. But I learn much from them too, from the questions they ask. And being a teacher yourself, I know you understand. Especially when you see that light in their eyes! After you help them figure something out, that they didn't completely understand. It's learning different ways to give the same answer at times. So that perhaps an individual student may grasp better, and retain, an important point you are trying to teach them. I feel I've done my part as a safety instructor, when down the road, when they are out on their own. And something I may have said pops up in their head, and keeps them or someone else safe in the field.

Bumpers up??........grin

We added 22 new bowhunters to our ranks today! What a great group they were. Hope they are all as proud of themselves, as we are of them. Wished them all straight shots and short blood trails. And again, the circle is unbroken.

Whatever you decide......it's all good my friend! Shoot what you like. Like what you shoot. I have no doubt that at some point this season, your jaw will drop! Last weekend in October maybe???

^^^^ Exactly what I was going to say ^^^^ I have a pair of mid sized Nikon bino's that were around $150, but have seen them on sale at times for a bit less. Forgot what model? Perhaps Monarch? Get a nice clear view of anything within my hunting range. Good in low light too.

An amazing player! Any fan of the game, should be a fan of this kid. No matter what team you may root for.

Tomorrow morning at Woodlawn Sportsmens Club. There is still an opening or two left, for any capital region folks who want to take the course. Last Hunter Ed course this year for us.

Pretty common around here. Very often mistaken for a copperhead, but totally different pattern and shape from a copperhead.

Happy Birthday my friend!!! Hope your special day is chock full, and overflowing with all the good stuff!!

Hi and welcome back Robin! Count me as one who very much enjoyed your posts and video's too. Sorry to hear of your health issues. Less than two years ago I underwent bladder cancer surgery, and I'm still having some problems popping up. And I have lost a step or two since then. But still kicking! Your experience and advice is still greatly valued here sir. Hope to hear more from you! Thank you for your service, and welcome home my friend.

Too much can go wrong, bowhunting in a steady rain. Been there, done that. Also, I just don't enjoy it as much in high temps, and or rain. I'll pass. Long season, plenty of time to hunt. Used to be, the season didn't open until the 15th, so these first two weeks still feel like "bonus time" to me.
