  1. Mine does that too! And she always has to let me know,....."it was right where YOU left it Dave" !!!!!!
  2. Absolutely pouring buckets here at work this morning. Makes me feel better about not being out hunting.
  3. I got my buck last year by being as adaptable as the deer. When what your doing ain't working, ya got to change what you're doing.
  4. Sorry to see it end that way for him, and for your truck. You're right, most any hunter, would have loved to get a shot at him. Beauty of a buck.
  5. Check all the little pack pockets? A drawer in the work bench? Camp pants from late season last year? No way it was Ana!!! She already has a much nicer purse than yours.
  6. A couple more mows, and a leaf mulch and I'll call it a season. Then on to Christmas lights!!
  7. You are the exception not the rule, I think? Of course some hunt with very expensive, multi thousand dollar hunting rifles. Most do not. Even fewer would take rifles like that, and drag them through brush, and expose them to the elements. But some do! On bad weather days, the Savage gets the call over my Sako.
  8. ^^^^^ This ^^^^^ moog is right on with this info. Also, wherever you have a doe concentration in the the fall. You will have bucks too. Especially as the rutting activity slowly ramps up.
  9. What a sweet looking rig John!! And no doubt shoots as good as it looks. Can't wait to see the pic's with it laying on a deer this season!
  10. Part of the current Bill for new crossbow legislation, will do away with the 17 inch axle to axle limitation. As well as up the poundage that could be used. And make it mandatory to have archery certification. Hopefully it will pass in the coming year with enough political support. As this issue is more political than common sense. No surprise in NY, right? That said, not many hunters out there with a $2500 deer rifle, or compound bow! Even if crossbow regs do get passed, I wouldn't spend that much for a crossbow myself! The two lower cost ones I have now, will kill deer just as dead!
  11. Usually after the first hard frost, is when they will start hitting the plots harder. As stuff like like turnips, beets and such will be more tasty to them, after a hard freeze, with a higher sugar content. Right now there is an abundance of natural food for them like acorns, wild apples, berries, sumac...ect. But as soon as that stuff starts to become less available, and everything starts to brown up, or even better, we get some snow. That is when they really seem to hit the food plots hard. Be patient, they will come!!
  12. Bam!!! Cory got it done on a beautiful buck!!! Congratulations sir! Way to go! And way to get this thread fired up!
  13. Panthers D looked great today. Offense running on all cylindes without a Cam. Nice! This is the year of the backup QB!
  14. I couldn't shoot her. The least someone could do is give her a sleeping bag!
  15. She's adorable! Looks right at home already.
  16. Mostly youngsters Jay. Two lady hunters, and two active duty military. And some 20 to 30 something guys. Also one grandfather who wants to start bow hunting with his grandson. He and I talked a bit during breaks, great guy. The grandson took the course as well.
  17. Thanks my friend. But I learn much from them too, from the questions they ask. And being a teacher yourself, I know you understand. Especially when you see that light in their eyes! After you help them figure something out, that they didn't completely understand. It's learning different ways to give the same answer at times. So that perhaps an individual student may grasp better, and retain, an important point you are trying to teach them. I feel I've done my part as a safety instructor, when down the road, when they are out on their own. And something I may have said pops up in their head, and keeps them or someone else safe in the field.
  18. We added 22 new bowhunters to our ranks today! What a great group they were. Hope they are all as proud of themselves, as we are of them. Wished them all straight shots and short blood trails. And again, the circle is unbroken.
  19. Luna gets off to a great start!! And has blood on her snout, from a tug as a reward!! Great going Tom!
  20. Whatever you decide......it's all good my friend! Shoot what you like. Like what you shoot. I have no doubt that at some point this season, your jaw will drop! Last weekend in October maybe???
  21. From last card pull. Shoud be an interesting season. Hopefully my grandson will see a good one.
  22. Those last two pic's have a couple shooters! Nice!!!
