  1. Um......two different arrows......two different deer. Similar hit.
  2. Wow! What a buck! Just to see a buck like that in the wild, would be a crowning experience for any hunter. I don't know if I could ever possibly make a bow shot on a buck like that though. As I'd be shaking so bad with buck fever! Shot looks a bit back from the photo? Probably a quartering away shot? But he got him! Awesome!
  3. Was giving this WS a big yawn,,,,, but turned the game on with no sound, while I was doing something else. And was drawn in. Good game last night!
  4. That would be my luck! Break a leg hanging a stand in the perfect spot. Can't hunt said stand because of busted leg. So give permission to let someone else hunt the stand. And they shoot a record book buck! Kudo's to the guy who gave up his spot to the kid!!!
  5. Glory Nocks!!! For bow and crossbow! So easy to use! And once adjusted shoot great. I love em! Made a thread on them in the bow section. I too am becoming intrigued with the saddle for hunting. Will follow this thread, as well as do some research. Rebel Darling offered me a demo. Think I'll take him up on that offer. Thanks Mike! And sorry I have no experience with the Blackhorn 209. I shoot an old TC Thunderhawk Shadow inline. It uses the #11 musket caps. Probably should upgrade, but it shoots so nice. And I only use it maybe once a year.
  6. I recently talked to growalot. And she is now using, and liking the saddle set up. I may look into it for next year? There are times when getting off the ground is the better option. Thanks for your input Mike!
  7. Wow! For less than $70 Think I'll give em a try! Thanks for the link Brian!
  8. It takes a bit of getting use to for climber stands, and a bit of effort too, for us older hunters. Haven't used mine in years. I vote for ground hunting. Pro's and con's with every style of hunting though. Find what works well for you, and is comfortable and stick with that. I'm much more comfortable from the ground at 62. Happy hunting to you too!
  9. Yup!!! Was texting moog while he was out there, he's hooked!......lol
  10. Right on Biz!!! It's us "real" hunters, that hunt from the ground!!!.................... I have a Summit Viper that has not seen use in years. Very comfortable, and easy to use. The added straps make it easy to pack in too. Thought about selling it, but will save it for my grandson, who will be old enough next year to use it.
  11. What a great family picture!!! This is what it's all about!!! Way to go!
  12. Some of my most memorable hunts were when I shot nothing. Great story! It gave me a big ol' smile! That really was a great hunt for you! Even the getting wet part, will definately be remembered as much as your little spike buddy, and the nutty critters. A story that most all outdoorsmen can easily relate to. And appreciate.
  13. Happy Birthday! All the best to ya today sir!
  14. I have no experience with any ozone products. But I predominantly hunt from the ground, and kill my fair share of deer. So here's my take...... Like moog said, there is nothing you can buy, use or do, to become scent free enough to where a deer can not smell you! Nothing! That said, I do wash my hunting clothes in scent free detergent. They are always stored in a plastic tote. I have many of them. I wash my body and hair in scent free soap, and use scentfree deodorant. I also chew gum while on stand. Maybe it cuts down on breath odors? IDK? But I always pay attention to the wind and thermals, trying my best to use them in my favor. I will move if the wind isn't right. But deer don't always follow the plan, they can and do come from drown wind!! I've had them come from dead down wind and never even stop or become alert. Other times I heard them blow before I even saw them. And no doubt, many just turned and went the other way without me knowing it. That's hunting!! You can't cover 360 degrees. No matter what, some deer will scent you. Set up is more important than scent control. In my humble opinion. The old guys I learned from, smelled like old billy goats, and killed a lot of deer! They also knew the best places to sit. Oh.....I can't count how many times I've had to put down a smoke, before killing a deer from the ground. And yup....some were even down wind.
  15. When I pee in a scrape, it gives the resident bucks the impression that a stinky, old, not in the best health, over the hill buck has visited. And their impression would be correct!!!!
  16. Both weeks are sandwiched in between the "Magical Day" of November 10th. The five days before and after the 10th are almost just as magical. These are traditionally the hottest of the seeking days for bucks! And for deer in general to be on their feet and moving! As the doe are finally almost ready to stand for breeding. From what I've observed over almost half a century of hunting, the best part of the seeking phase happens at this same time each year. Regardless of moon phase or weather. If the weather is too warm, it will just go at the coolest time of day.....at night. And you will see less deer activity then. Answering you question......both of those weeks should have great deer activity. I'd suggest hunting Sunday the 10th through the week of the 11th to 15th.
  17. Nothing like being eye to eye, on their level, to get the heart pounding! What a great hunt!
  18. I too saw Altuve play here with the cats. And knew from the fist time I saw him, he was something special. The Joe, is a wonderful place to take the kids for some great baseball. The Yankees are going home and they deserve to. Except for a couple players, they couldn't hit to bring runners in scoring position home. Offensively, Judge and Sanchez were horrendous throughout the post season! And the "billion dollar" Stanton wasn't even there. Yankees need to revamp and get some upper echelon starting pitching. Then make some decisions on who to keep and who to trade, up and down the lineup. What good are these guys who put up good numbers in the regular season, and go to playoffs with that deer in the headlights look on their faces at the plate!
  19. Found another fresh scrape on the way in to my afternoon spot. There are bucks in the area no doubt. But not seeing any daytime movement, at this time.
  20. Mine was a ways off too Matt. Was probably the same doe right between us! May try the lake property in the morning? We'll see? Seen deer every sit there so far. That streak will likely be broken, as I'm not even seeing them from the drive up. Real slow. But will start to pick up by next weekend.
  21. Congratulations Tacks! Beauty of a buck! Way to go my friend!
  22. What you did for those two pups will be repaid time and time again, as long as they live. Warms my heart to know there are people like you and your wife out there.
