Nice catch! Way to go! Is that your one eyed drunkin sailor look in that pic?
-
Go now before you do something to make her mad! You know a woman's perogative, is to change her mind! Sounds like you got a keeper for a Mrs.!

My grandson passed his NYS Bowhunter course today! Completed the firearms course last week. He juggled school work, the homework for the two courses, two Saturdays, baseball practices, bow practice and chores the last few weeks. Quite a bit for a 12 year old these days! Never heard a complaint and I'm so proud and happy to call him, officially, my hunting partner! All that is left is for him now, is to draw blood. I'll do all I can to make that happen. He's ready! Picture of him and my friend Steve, one of the instructors.

Trailer recommendation
grampy replied to crappyice's topic in ATV's , UTV's, Dirtbikes & Snowmobiles
I bought a sheet of 3/4 inch treated plywood and a box of 1 1/2 inch x 1/2 bolts and washers, and did it myself, in under an hour. Saved about 75 or 100 dollars ! As I remember. -
Trailer recommendation

I have that same trailer. Bought from TC about 10 years ago. Had to replace lights and wires a couple times. But other than that, it's held up pretty good. Use it for ATV and yard work. For the money spent it doesn't owe me anything. -
Probably would still need a map to get through!

Beards ? Do you grow one for hunting season ?
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Will stop shaving in a week or two. Won't shave till after the season or I get a buck. No nuzzling with the Mrs. till it comes off. It irritates her face. So hoping buck comes early! My grandson says he would grow one too, if he could, for good luck! -
Me, I'd go with Rufus for a boy, Aggie for a girl.

Welcome! I'm on the other side of the state. But I'm sure we will have something in common! Join right in!
-
I'd have a hard time keeping my food down, just hearing his voice!
-
One thing is certain. I saw enough on your pic's, to know you have every reason to be excited about the upcoming season!
-
You don't get a chance on a buck like that very often. Most hunters never will. Make the best of what you have and put him on your wall! Wish you the best of luck this season!

You're famous here and always will be!

Buck weight (field dressed) - what's a "big one" in NY
grampy replied to buckchaser's topic in Deer Hunting
Buck from last year. 189 weighed on the farms old Toledo scale. our area. -
That's all well and good. But if I have to do multiple scrapes I'm in big trouble!

In 1974, we got the compressed air gun shots at Fort Jackson SC. Walk down the line getting shots in both arms at the same time. Six or eight in all. Everyone pretending it didn't hurt! But it sure did!
-
Last time I got the double whammy of flu and tetanus shot together, it hurt for a couple weeks! And I too remember the "shot" gun line in basic training! But I wasn't such a wimp back in those days!!! These days, I need surgery in both shoulders and have been putting it off for quite awhile now. When I can't use em I'll get the surgery. Till then I deal with it. Backed my bow down to 50lbs. or so and can only hold full draw for a few seconds. But I'm still in the game. So I'm good.

Otis is looking great! And I'm sure he's learning his bunny lessons well! And still awfully cute too!

You are really doing the best thing for yourself. Best of luck! You WILL do it!

Beards ? Do you grow one for hunting season ?
grampy replied to turkeyfeathers's topic in General Chit Chat
Started one around this time last year. Shaved the week after thanksgiving. After going back to work. Public school district. -
Works for me too. Exactly what I do.
-
Thanks so much! I tried one to see how it shoots from my Raptor, and it's hitting exactly the same as my target points! So that works. And your experience with them on deer sounds excellent! So that seals the deal for me. Into the quiver they will go!

Has anyone used a new item and feel it is helpful?
grampy replied to ApexerER's topic in General Hunting
Lighted nocks! -
I have a couple of fringe areas that I will use to experiment with. I'm a firm believer that an old dog can learn new tricks! Thanks, everyone for the feedback! I'll check back in, as to whatever results I get.
