  1. We moved this stand to the thick stuff, below a small ridge. Shots will be close. But this is where we need to be, based on everything we've put together. It's not perfect, as access, and wind direction is the key, but it's close. This may be my gun opener spot? A cut between two big THICK bedding areas, that we never set foot in. About 200 yards to the left from the top picture. If I don't get him from one spot, hopefully I will from the other? Time will tell? Or perhaps I'll shoot the first decent one that comes in? I was quite humbled last year.
  2. The first cold front, after all this warm weather, will be great for hunting!
  3. I'm sipping coffee. Will be heading up to the farm. Have some work to do up there this weekend. Also moving a couple of stands, based on what we have observed recently. Most likely won't hunt until next weekend. Good luck to all out there! A beautiful fall day! Enjoy all the splendors of the season! Also good luck to all the youth hunters and their mentors! You guy's are completing the circle!
  4. I had picked you originally! So I still have you starting in the line up! You're due real soon!
  5. Way to get it done my friend!!! Congratulations on a great Capital Region buck!! I had a feeling you were going to break the ice!!! Great job Paul!! I'm buying at our Mobile meet up!!!!
  6. My man Paul!!!! What a great buck! So happy for him! A great guy and hunter! Guess I'm buying at our next meet up! I love getting those "from the woods texts" !!!
  7. This is what I do too. Never had any problems. Using both powder and pellets. Unless it's EXTREEMLY cold or wet, you should be good. But as always, do what YOU think best.
  8. I may break your record,if I get lucky? Will gladly make the almost four hour, one way trip! I'd really like a pedestal mount for my man cave room, in the new house. I have a couple of candidates roaming the property. But the last couple years, my results have been, shall we say,........... lacking?
  9. So nice to see ya back Eddie. I certainly have missed your participation. Best of luck to ya in the deer woods sir!

Another "benefit" of the policies of this current administration. You don't need to ask yourself if we are better off now, than we were a year ago. It should be clearly evident. The one's who will suffer the most, are the one's who have the least. Like older folks on fixed incomes.
  11. A truly great buck! I find myself looking past the huge rack. At how life like your work is. Amazing mount, and artwork.
  12. I have moved stands, only to have the buck I was targeting go right to the original position while I watched!!! The old Zig - Zag game! Talk about frustration!!!!
  13. Most hunting accidents involve hunters with ten or more years of hunting experience. Not young hunters, who tend to be among the most safe.
  14. Pictures are kind of blurry from a phone, but you can get an idea of why we are moving a couple of stands. Not too often you get mature bucks walking during daylight hours. Kinda confirmed what we were thinking, about where he was. And where he was going.
  15. I have not tried it. But I've been hearing really good things about that "Smokies" scent.
  16. I agree 100%. Sometimes just a short move of even 50 yards, could be the difference maker. That said, we are moving two stands, and putting in a hub blind this weekend. To take advantage of new sign popping up on different parts of the property. I fully expect at least one of these moves to pay off BIG time.
  17. I was thinking the exact thing Biz, when he walked off nonchalantly in the 3rd, without securing an out. Cole is very good, until he isn't. Usually if he is roughed up early, he loses it. Opposing teams certainly know this, and try to jump on him early. But absolutely, Cole has done more good than bad this season. Over all, our most consistent arm all year. Just didn't have his best stuff last night on short rest. Also, like most great pitchers, he's a bit of a head case too.
  18. Last nights game was typical of most all of the 2021 Yankees season. Pitching imploded. Very little offence. No spark or continuity at all. From a team that had the talent to go all the way, and didn't. Rightly so, there will be a few who wore the pinstripes for the last time, last night. Start with Boone.
  19. JD is a proven Yankee killer. Too bad he's out with an injury. Red Sox still have some weapons though. No telling what version of the Yankees will show up for the game tonight. That has been the 64 million dollar question most of this season. But if they get on a really good run, who knows? Stranger things have happened on the way to the World Series. Or...........Boston could just send em packing after tonight?? We'll see!
  20. Congratulations!!!! Whole lotta space between those antlers!
