  1. I think when any politician, regardless of party affiliation starts out, most of them are honest, and want to work for the people, with good intentions. Not long after taking office, they begin to be corrupted by those that helped get them there. And old guard party members. The corruption only increases with time. Term limits, are the only way to curb the corruption, and division that is tearing this country apart. Keep fresh new ideas coming in, with new blood that actually wants to make a positive difference, for the PEOPLE. Not themselves. Two terms, then your out! Make room for someone else! I'm a conservative. And that goes for them, as well as the liberals.
  2. This sickens and saddens me. I know how that kid felt. The only thing my abusive, alcoholic, biological father ever taught me, was he was the man I never wanted to be. When he left us at the age of twelve, I made I promise to myself to never be like him............ever. I've kept that promise. I would have told that kid to go pick out TWO of whatever he wanted! It was my lucky day! And now his too!! And if the "father" said anything, I would have quietly whispered, kids remember for a long time. And you only have them for a short time.
  3. There is a time and place for everything. The time and place for drinking alcohol, or getting high, is not while hunting or handling a firearm.
  4. Had another great day in the woods. Saw six different bucks! For various reasons, no shots taken. Next weekend, with three days off perhaps I can make a connection? On the way out, this small 8pt buck let me walk within bow range while he fed! He never ran, just looked at me a couple of times, and was still there feeding after I walked past! Don't ever see that happen around here! Told him "see ya in a couple years buddy". I think he replied "bring it old man"!
  5. Get well soon, you and your Mrs. Hope you're out chasing deer real soon!
  6. Sorry to hear this Larry. Hope you and the Mrs have a full and speedy recovery.
  7. Four bucks together at first light. Nothing since from the oak ridge blind. Just above where I was sitting yesterday.
  8. My guess is liver gut shot, with that slightly quartering to angle. Since he was undisturbed, he probably bedded within 150 yards of where he was shot. Good luck on the recovery. He did exactly what I would have done. When in doubt back out. Pushing a deer hit like this, really cuts the odds of recovery.
  9. Having coffee and a bite to eat. Can't wait to get back out there!!! There's gold in them thar hills! Best of luck to all heading out today!
  10. Long story short. Sat here most of the day. Passed on this guy. Hope I don't regret it? Back in that area again in the morning. I saw something that got me excited.
  11. I saw deer doing that too! Stop watching and shoot! I got you picked this week buddy!....lol
  12. He's just a glorified babysitter..................
  13. Get him down this weekend Biz! Good luck!
  14. Yes.......up to and including this weekend. After that, not until 2nd week of gun season. If my nephew gets out with me, anytime is doe time.
  15. The Savage Axis, is a great shooting rifle that won't break the bank at all. Even comes with a scope! Can upgrade the optics, and the trigger spring at another time, to make it even better! I have one in 7mm-08. that has proven itself well.
  16. I'm ready and raring to get out for the first time tomorrow!! Got a very twitchy trigger finger, and and an empty freezer, from not shooting one last year. Not gonna be as selective this year!!!
  17. Happy Birthday Sir!!! Hope you get to unwrap a GIANT present today!!!
  18. That stink dog looks tiny compared to the ones running around here!
  19. This trespasser came from public land, and just walked by six posted signs! I guess it means nothing, because she is walking fluffy and floozie, while wearing blaze orange. I hope we catch her. She probably wont like what we have to say about fluffy and floozie.
  20. Great Idea for a thread!!! John Jeanneney was a great blood tracker, along with being my mentor, and sponsor in Deer Search. We started tracking together in 1998. I thought I was pretty good at tracking, until I met John. I learned so much from him, while on many, many blood lines. His book, "Dead On" is a must have for all hunters! Packed with useful blood tracking information. I could probably fill a few pages of this thread with just some of the things we have learned over the years, tracking wounded deer, with, and without dogs. I have always tried to help other hunters, with what I've learned over the years. And still do. John once told me, "we track more in one year than the average hunter will in two lifetimes". That adds up to seeing a lot of different things while on track. So, I'll add a couple that may help....... -After the shot, if the deer is not laying within sight, wait a minimum of 45 minutes before checking for sign. -No two lines are ever the same. Take stock of every situation, and make the best decisions, given all the information you have. -When in doubt back out!!! -If evidence shows a sure gut hit, wait at least six hours, before taking up the track. -Blood drops are not round! There will always be "little fingers" coming off the drop of blood if you look close. Those "fingers" will point to the direction of travel of the deer. Never walk on the blood trail!! This will help if you need to call a tracking dog.
  21. Making a difference with positivity, is so gratifying.
  22. What a buck!!! Wow! Hope to see you work your magic on him!!!
  23. No doubt that it could, and would kill a deer. Especially in the right hands, under the right conditions. Lights out! DRT!! I just wondered, since I know he has way better options to use, why he didn't? And on a deer drive?? Who knows? Maybe he was just trying to school me?? I admit to not knowing a whole lot about a lot of things. But smart enough, to keep my mouth shut, and ears open, just enough. So that perhaps I might learn something, to help make me a real fart smeller some day??? Was just curious as to what the guys here thought too? Thanks for all the replies fella's. ???
