Sounds like you had a good morning even if you didn't connect with a turkey. Given the choices you have,I would choose #3. The two fields separated by a row of scrub trees. I'd find a spot to set up on the lower end in the scrub where you can watch both fields. They will most likely come into those fields from the lower end and move higher to find hens and strut their stuff. My personal rule is to give another hunter, already set up before me,plenty of room. Hopefully the courtesy will be returned to you if you are set up first. But that's sadly not always the case on public land. And yes, they are turkey feathers.

I let the youngsters use their i-phones with the sound off. That seems to help a little. But keeping a 13 and an 11 year old still as they need to be is almost impossible after the first hour. .........Patience Grasshopper...........

Is there any place on line where you can follow the fight? $100 is a bit steep to watch it by myself. Sure is a bunch of people making big money off of this fight!

Nice pics! That doe must think she's a Kardashian or something!...lol

That was crazy! I would have been waving my arms and jumping up and down long before it got that close to me.

Situation in Baltimore

It's so much easier to blame your position in life on other people, the government, your race, lack of education or an endless amount of other excuses. Than taking responsibility for yourself and improving your position. -
Sounds like a good time! Can't make it this year, but will mark it down for next year! Have fun guy's!

To all the hunters heading out to the turkey grounds,in the next couple of days! Wishing you all a safe and successful season!

Town clerk for my last license too. Because the conservation officers in my area are not very understanding.

Good luck and happy hunting!

Situation in Baltimore

Makes no sense at all. It's not a protest for the young man who died in police custody. It's an excuse for criminals and thugs to loot, burn and cause mayhem in their own communities. I do agree, that Mom has my vote for Mother of the year! -
Had a couple gobbling on the ridge behind the house last evening. A few years ago, there would have been at least a half dozen of them gobbling back there. The last couple of winters have been pretty bad here and seeing a lot more fishers and coyotes as well. For sure we have fewer turkeys now than we had even five years ago,due to a combination of factors.

Come on man.......really? Most likely out of season too.

Manny knocks him out in the 6th round. Then they both take their millions and live happily ever after. I would be willing to fight both at the same time for half the money!

They are a very intelligent animal. And are simply following the abundant and easy food sources. I would rather see them in the city than the woods behind my house.

Good luck this year on getting the first turkey under your belt.

To bad you miss the Canadian opener this year. But sounds like you have a good plan of action in place. Best of luck to you and gator for the season!

Installed new trigger spring on my Savage Axis
grampy replied to grampy's topic in Guns and Rifles and Discussions
Very little trigger creep, nice crisp break. -
I was looking to improve the trigger on my Savage Axis in 7mm-08.I went to amazon.com and found an after market trigger spring with great reviews, for about $20,including shipping. It came three days after ordering, with very good installation instructions and pictures. Also found a u-tube vidieo that was very helpful. Taking my time,it took about 20 minutes to install. Started out with an average trigger pull of 6.10lbs.After installation, I now have an average trigger pull of 3.11lbs.! Big improvement over the stock trigger in my opinion. I was looking to buy a timney trigger, but they cost over $100 before having them installed. So I figured for a fraction of the cost of a new trigger assembly I'd give it a try. This is a hunting rifle, not a bench gun,and I'm very pleased with the results. Can't wait to see how much my groups shrink after this simple and cheap upgrade. I'll repost the results after shooting.
