You are a real friend. Very nice buck and congratulations to Dave!

Cold and very windy sit today in 4 H. Had a spike come by at seven thirty, heading up the ridge. Doe and two fawns come down the same trail around two. Still very little movement since opening day in my neck of the woods. I may have to hunt another property tomorrow.

Congratulations! You will never forget every minute of your first successful hunt!

Congratulations on your buck Greg. Hope you will be feeling better soon.

Your friend is very lucky to have someone like you to mentor him. I think you are very commendable for helping him make memories that will last a lifetime. From one hunter to another, thank you.

Skin it and eat it. 99 persent of deer have ticks in and on them.

I totally agree with the previous post by H O B H, never give up and refuse to lose. Try hunting mid day hours between ten and two, I know from personal experience that this can pay off big time! Try still hunting by going slow and slower and sitting by big trees and blowdowns for a half hour or so before moving on. Always try to keep the wind to your advantage and from time to time check your back trail, as a buck you may not have seen may try to sneak behind you to escape. Try hunting in thick cover with buck sign nearby. The shots will be close, so again keep that wind in your face. As gun season goes on most deer in high pressure areas will seek out the thicker cover. Be there waiting! Good luck with the rest of the season!

Great bucks! Nice job and congratulations to both of you. What a awesome team!

Not much happening here ether. Sat for first six hours heard a few shots but not close and saw not one deer. Back in stand by one thirty and just before dark a doe and small buck came through. Compared to what I was seeing during bow it was very slow today. Hope it picks up the next couple of days!

I am 57 and tend to hunt the old style ways as much as I can. Don't bring phone or use trail cams and tend to put a lot of miles on my hunting boots. But I am getting soft. I now use those little hand warmer packs and will on occasion use an atv to move stands or haul a deer out due to old injuries and general aches and pains. Can't seem to sit still in the cold as long as I used to ether. But it's all good as long as I can still get my butt out there and hunt. I'm happy!

I was wondering if anyone else has a favorite or lucky song that has to be listened to before heading out to hunt on oprning day. Mine is Brothers In Arms by Dire Straits. The song has nothing to do with deer hunting but I have to hear it cranked up in my truck or on headphones before I head out. Been doing this for more than twenty years. I'm a guitar player too so maybe I am a little weird. lol.........

The best way to scientifically observe them would be to get forty or so yards away and about fifteen to twenty feet high. Let me know if another "scientist" will be needed for collaboration. I'll be on call for the next week or so.

For sure, what I call the crazy phase will coincide with opening day here in my area of 4 H. Saturday could be interesting, fun and down right crazy! I have a feeling that a lot of bucks will see their last sunrise chasing a doe opening day.

Do you have the half moon nocks? I have a barnett and have had that happen before. From shooting a small piece of the nock broke off and would not engage the safety mechanism correctly. Put in a new bolt and it worked fine. So replaced all the nocks before the season started and no problems since. Good luck hope it's a easy fix.
