  1. I have zero problem with you or any one else that finds me "disgusting" for not liking the idiotic spending policies of Cuomo and like minded politicians, who I believe put a undo burden on hard working people. You can sing their praises, get in step and keep voting them in, but it doesn't mean I have to like it and get in step with you. You are entitled to you opinions and I mine. And over a cold beer we may even find some common ground. And not that it matters to you or anyone else, my family would be the first to say that I've bared my responsibilitys to them quite well on my shoulders. That's all that matters to me.
  2. Really, maybe I should not have busted my my a$$ all these years, putting kids through college, paying off a mortgage and trying to provide the best life I could for my family. The foundation of my family has and always will be built on love, caring and being there for each other.Weather times are good or bad. But you still need money to survive! Maybe I just should have lived off the scraps, handouts and public assistance that the Cuomo"s and other politicians like them handed out,and just not have give a darn. Really, this would have made me a better family man? If so,I'm glad I don't live in your family.
  3. I could have been a better husband, father and grandfather too, if the Cuomo clan had allowed me to keep more of my hard earned pay.
  4. Sorry, I hate to say this since he died. But I didn't like him any more than I like his son. No tears will be shed here.
  5. This site is awesome as far as members passing along info, experience, and knowledge to other members. No one, especially myself, knows everything about anything. You really can teach old dogs new tricks if you can be open minded enough to learn from others.
  6. I took your advice, wildcat and went with the federal nosler ballistic tip in 140 grain. A bit pricey but so far I'm very impressed with them. I'm saving the brass as my neighbor does reloading and he says he will be happy to work out some loads for me. I picked up more ammo yesterday and going out to shoot in a little bit. I really like this rifle and can't get enough shooting it! And hey, thanks again for posting all that great info about 7mm-08 and the savage axis. This being my first hunting rifle all info and opinions is very helpful.
  7. I read in yesterday's Times Union, that he vetoed his own bill for teacher evaluation with the common core student scores. Because the teachers union is not bowing down to kiss his a $$. Wish he would have vetoed his own bill with the safe act scam, but nooooo......

Happy Birthday! Hope you spend your special day laughing with friends and family.
  9. I just got the axis in 7mm-08 for christmas. I love it! Only have 20 rounds through it and last three shot group at 100 yards was a touch more than inch and a half. With more trigger time I think it will get even smaller. Recoil is very manageable too. My ten and twelve year old grandsons will shoot it this weekend. There was a recent post about this rifle by wildcatjunkie that was very infomative, check it out.
  10. Rocky makes a good sturdy hiking boot that is also very comfortable. Mine are three years old and still going strong. And I've put a lot of miles on them in the woods behind the house. Got them on sale for about a hundred bucks.
  11. Wishing everyone here a happy and healthy new year! May all your shots be true, blood trails short, and every minute spent afield cherished.
  12. Don't think I've ever seen one that big! Way to go Kludes!
  13. What? I missed dinner........? Well it looked good anyways........
  14. Happy birthday! Enjoy the eats and your special day!
  15. A friend of mine has one and it's a tack driver out to 100 plus yards. Great deal with the scope for under 250. Pull the trigger on this one if you can.
  16. Nice offer from a good sportsman. Way to go pistolp71!
  17. Happy Birthday! Hope you enjoy all the warm feelings you get from family and friends!
  18. Thanks again there wildcat! Some great info given. I'll take advantage of any and all rebates available. Now, off to find some ammo so I can get out to shoot. Enough snow has melted to get back to the shale pit!
  19. Happy birthday Wooly! Thanks for the gift you give us with all those awesome pictures you post! Hope you find a matched pair of big sheds today.
  20. Thoughts and prayers sent. Most farmers are a resilient and tough bunch. If there is a will I hope they will find a way to come back even stronger.
  21. I must have been really good this year! I'm so blessed to have a wonderful wife and family that supports my hunting obsession. Savage axis in 7mm-08. A very nice padded case for it. A very nice padded case for the crossbow I got last fall. Bass pro gift cards. Under Armour hoodie. Merino wool socks.
  22. Santa aka my wonderful wife of 30 years totally surprised me this morning with the savage axis in 7mm-08. I really had no idea she was going to do this! She even contacted my best bud and hunting partner as to the caliber and all. I still can't believe he didn't slip up and tell me! It is my first actual deer rifle and I can't wait to shoot it. I'll take wildcat's advice and upgrade the glass and perhaps a timiney trigger in the future. But even as it is, it's a big jump up from my old deerslayer ll. Going hunting for ammo tomorrow, and from the info on this thread the 140 gr Federal ballistic tip should be a good round for this gun, if I can find it. Right?
  23. Thanks guy's, it will be the axis ll in 7mm-08 for me. You can always count on the people here when trying to nail down a hunting or shooting decision.
  24. I'm hoping to get one of these very soon. It will be my first deer rifle. I have always been in a shotgun wmu. I really want the 7mm-08,but have been told the 270 may be better. Will use it for yote's as well as deer. Never having shot ether caliber is there a big difference comparing the two? I would just like something accurate out to 200-250 yards that will drop deer with a well placed shot. And not cost more than $500. Have it down to the savage axis or ruger american. Any advice from you more knowledgeable guys is appreciated.
