I quarter up and put in big cooler with ice the same day. I'll cut up all the neck meat/backstraps/tenderloins and package those. Then I'll usually butcher a leg or two a day until finished.

One almost grabbed me as a kid. I was sitting in my driveway playing with rocks, about 8 years old, while family was grilling on porch. My dad screams my name from the porch and I turn around to see a coyote a few feet in back of me, was approaching me from behind. I thought it was my neighbors dog at first as they had an old mutt so I was not alarmed. My dad screamed again a few seconds later and the coyote turned around and bolted.

I forgot most peoples names almost instantly after they tell me unless it is an interesting name or someone really important.

I think it is a great day for America. Sad it took this long for it to happen. LOL at the people who get so riled up over two consenting adults getting married. Like marriage is such a sacred institution these days anyway. Love that argument.

Well I did not find one morel this year. I checked ever single spot I have ever found a morel in and did not find one. I know it was a dry year but damn. Disappointing.

Almost all the properties I am inquiring about are vacant land owned by builders/development companies and usually live in NYC or elsewhere unfortunately.

Well, for the past 2 seasons, I had permission to hunt the 250 acre property across the street from my house. The property is vacant and has been through many hands the past 30 years. I've been going on that property since I was a little kid. Took one nice buck off the property in 2013, and have been trying to take a turkey the past few weekends. Besides hunting, I am always doing something over there; photography, just hiking, shed hunting, trail came, mushroom hunting etc. Noticed some trucks opening the gate and going in the past few weekends and could not get in touch with guy I have permission from. Last week when turkey hunting, when I decided to pack it up and call it a day I noticed a trail cam in the field. Finally talked to the guy I have permission from and the property is sold. And now that I saw the trail cam, I doubt there's a spot for me to hunt. I have no way to contact new owners, hopefully I will catch them heading out and can talk with them. Got to get in there and pull out all my stands tomorrow. Hope they are still there. Also, had a little 30 acre spot also next to my house owned by family friends. Well he moved out on Tuesday after owning the place for 21 years so no more hunting there. I've sent out 24 letters asking permission and 16 have said no so far and one said maybe next year. This is frustrating! Needed to vent.

Got a few hundred pear buds on my 2 bosc pear trees. Didn't get many last year but the year before we were buried in pears. We're still eating pear&rosemary preserves and have 4 cans left. Should be a great year.

Hey guys, anyone finding morels yet? Looked in my usual spots and nothing so far. Cold, long winter and now no rain, maybe that will make them late this year. Found most of mine last year between May 18-25.

I love crappie. I am never able to catch many of them, but when I do catch them they are monsters.

Didn't hear a thing for first hour so I got up and walked up and along top a ridge, calling every few minutes. Walked into a dozen hens, didn't see them until I was 10 yds away, they were silent. Called there for a while and nothing. Got bored and started looking for sheds. Found no sheds. Had a nice walk though.
