    My big 9

The bullet performance is odd. I've killed a lot of deer with the superformance in 06 150gr. And always had great results. The smaller exit holes could be a result of the front of the bullet disintegrating and the core is what exited. Either way I'm sure he'd had tipped over shortly with the lung hits. Great buck! I'd guess 125ish range for score Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  2. I never do, just keep it as clean as possible and keep equipment as sterile/clean as you can. Introducing water can increase the probability of bacterial growth. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  3. I don't understand people complaining that they write equipment violation tickets during a roadblock... Don't break the law and you won't get a ticket. Very simple. It took an extra 5 minutes out of my day. If they caught 1 of the local scumbags with an untagged deer or guy road hunting or no hunting license then it's worth it to me. The officers were quick and pleasant and weren't digging for violations. You can whine that they're generating revenue but they're also protecting our hunting by doing so, I honestly don't get the negative feelings? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  4. Because the honest have nothing to be worried about, but there are plenty that aren't honest and will either get caught or think twice about breaking the law. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  5. Wooly is spot on. That certainly looks like the glow of the sky through the trees... Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  6. Average shooting in 7M the first hour of light and it dropped off fast after 8AM. I only heard like 5 shots after noon. 6 of us in the woods, only 2 deer spotted, 1 buck killed. Today none of us went in the 30mph wind and snow. I'm guessing the opening weekend totals will be a lot lower than usual. Then again we aren't seeing near the numbers of deer in 7M we were even just 5 years ago. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  7. Yea we saw a roadblock near Erieville yesterday afternoon/night, 4 way intersection blocked, every deer and their weapons were checked. I wish I ran into these more often actually. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  8. 6:21 and 6:27 were the first 2 I heard this morning Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  9. I've never heard or seen this anywhere as being illegal. I highly doubt it's illegal in NY. Both weapons are valid in regular season so why not? Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  10. Here's the one I was sent. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  11. Yes, I have a friend in law enforcement there and he sent me the pic yesterday. He said it was hit in/near manlius also. I'll post the pic he sent me after I blur the face and license plate out. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  12. 5-7 deer this AM. A lot of lone fawns. Beautiful morning. Although I love being out, it just doesn't feel the same without a buck tag in my pocket. Saturday my regular season tag will be good and I'll be back out with bow in hand next week. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  13. Covered in deer this morning Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  14. Yea this was the best buck in that particular piece of property. I've had the same 7 bucks on and off since August working a community scrape. I actually had this 8pt and a 6 pt walk right up to me one morning while squirrel hunting in there. I have bigger bucks on camera elsewhere but with time running out I get less picky, I'm very happy with him, especially for public land. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  15. So the 6th buck of the night ate a hypodermic... Just before dark at 40yds, perfect shot, he went 75yds. 7F Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  16. Today was a good day! Got a big doe this morning, wasn't planning on hunting tonight but 2 hrs before dark found me running into the woods where I bumped 3 bucks. Had another 6pt, spike and finally the 8 come by while in the stand. Shot him at 40yds, he went 75. And this was the first day of my 2 week vacation. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  17. 4 and a 6 cruised by 20 minutes ago Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  18. Wasn't going to go out tonight but couldn't resist so I got in late and just bumped 3 bucks away from a scrape. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  19. Had this big doe come in just before 10am. Shot her at 10yds, she ran 40yds and tipped over. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  20. Good way to start my 2 weeks off. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  21. Doe down. Shot her at 10 yds. She went 40 and down Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  22. I simply admire the deer, cherish the moment if you will. I also find myself apologizing in my head because they truly are beautiful creatures and I hope I always feel sentiment toward them as it's an important part of the experience to me. I don't like distasteful pictures with blood and gore, in fact I've killed 2 does and a coyote on film and the does both dropped and required a second shot and the coyote was hit back too far and made quite a lot of noise until he died, I deleted those videos without ever showing anyone. I don't feel it was respectful to those animals. Watching the last few breaths of life is something that shouldn't be broadcast for the world to see in my opinion. With that being said I don't let the finality of death cloud the moment, If everything happened in a way I can be proud of then I am beyond happy, I'm just not the jumping up and down, screaming and thanking baby Jesus like the fools on TV type. 23. It's funny, when I switched to a thumb release last spring I figured I'd have to order a second one in case I lost it in the woods because I was sure my POI would change. It didn't! I shot my wrist straps the exact same as my thumb release, I don't know if it's a fluke or what but I can shoot either without changing anything. Now I just carry a wrist strap in my pack as a backup. If you do decide in the future to use a thumb release give yourself ample time to practice with it. It took me a few months to really get used to it fully, and even longer to feel ultra confident in it. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
  24. I have 2 trufire hardcore releases and I like them a lot. Although they are backups to my 4 finger Hot Shot Vapor now, I switched this spring and don't see myself looking back. Sent from my XT1080 using Tapatalk
