  1. Decided to pop out tonight for a few hours. It is way too quiet out here for my liking... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  2. Yep, even a broadhead hole through the diaphragm makes it real tough for them to breathe. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  3. I took 21 days off starting Nov. 2nd last year and killed my biggest buck to date the very first morning at 10:45AM! I don't think as a group we will ever top that day (during archery at least). How many bucks got dropped that day anyways? Wasn't it like 8?? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  4. If it means anything to you, my cell cameras have been fairly active in the last few days, still mostly at night but new bucks popping in, deer running past the camera, bucks with their mouths open etc... So in my areas of 7F and 8F I think we are reaching a tipping point and anytime from here on out is worth being out there. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  5. Give it a rest. You're lucky you got in at all! #archerypuristclub #lifesnotfair Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  6. White buck is back. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  7. I'm thinking fake news on this one. You can see the shoulder blade moving and not even a limp!? It is also hard to fathom a 3+ yr old buck being dumb enough to get run over by a combine. Those aren't quiet or stealthy! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  8. Sent the pic to a few people in my club, apparently the DEC officer that hunts that property also saw a few white deer in there last year. I'll post up some definitive pics when/if I get more. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  9. Too small for me but I hope I get more pics to confirm it's white. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  10. Your thoughts? Since what you mentioned isn't an option. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  11. I'd put money on that being a white buck! Look at the tail, no dark/light line. I've had tons of deer in low light and none of them have looked white before? Am I imagining things? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  12. Opinions? What do you guys see here? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  13. I've found them tough straight out of the deer. I let them sit in the fridge for a few days in marinade and it helps a lot. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  14. Good one on his feet tonight Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  15. I skinned my father and brothers deer from 6K last weekend and they were COVERED in ticks, it was awful. The doe had 9 ticks in one armpit that I counted. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  16. Yep, me too. And having a couple down doesn't increase my motivation either! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  17. I'm not going out tonight,it's going to be 78° tomorrow, and I don't feel like rushing through processing one. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  18. Rifle hunting is fun, I'm not saying that it isn't at all. It just lacks a certain level of satisfaction for me. I don't get the same rush from it as I do when I push a broadhead through the lungs of an unaware deer at close range. I've killed a lot of deer with rifles, I grew up in the northern tier so that was 90% of my experience until I moved away and started bowhunting seriously. I guess I'm just changing my views as I age. To some it's a big feat to kill a deer with a gun, it's not for me is all I'm getting at. It's tough to put into words, getting close and killing a deer with an arrow seems like a more dignified death for the deer if that makes any sense whatsoever? I love deer and if I can get close and witness them interact with one another, do things I've never seen, make noises I've never heard, sneeze etc. then I win, whether I release an arrow or not. I've learned far, far more about deer and hunting while bowhunting than I have my entire youth rifle hunting. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  19. No it's all good! It takes more than disagreeing on a hypothetical situation for me to dislike someone. I think the "big boy pants" got a few likes is because that's what would be said in a circle of friends after a few beers. Also, I don't fully disagree with the statement geared at some hunters and I know exactly what the OP was thinking. I too have very little sympathy for someone who complains about "bowhunters" because they lack time, skill, woodsmanship, knowledge, success, ambition etc etc... (I'm in no way implying that person is YOU). It probably stems from the frustrations of a society where we feel entitled to something and noone wants to take on something challenging. I take great pride in my woodsmanship skills, I'm far from being great but that's what I strive for. I try to learn every time I go out, I consider myself a bowhunter first and foremost and love the intimate relationship that comes with the animals I encounter. I like picking up a rifle from time to time but it's not the same feeling of reward for me when I pull the trigger. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  20. That's why I said I'm for most of it but not all. There should be exceptions for youth, elderly, disabled etc... Noone will ever be on the same page with this but it's fun to think/debate about. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  21. Noone started this thread crying about anything? I said I'm not for xbows, but would be willing to put them into archery season for a shorter gun season. Say what you like, but our gun season is really long by most of the country's standard and I wish we were setup more like Illinois or Iowa. I'm not petitioning for anything. Are you opposed to me wanting to kill both of my bucks during archery? I never once said that there isn't any woodsmanship, skill or extremely talented hunters who gun hunt? There is, obviously, but you know exactly what I'm saying and you're trying to twist it to make me seem like I'm calling gun hunters incompetent. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  22. This is a conversation, therefore we'd like to hear your view also. In your opinion, bowhunting is no more difficult than gun hunting? Do you bowhunt? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  23. Hunted this morning for the first sit in 2 weeks, got skunked! Unless you count the deer who watched me get ready at my truck the entire time this morning from 75 yds away. Farmer cut the corn near that stand so I'm not sure how comfortable they will be now as it's close to the rd. There are 10 scrapes and some rubs within 20-40 yds of the stand, so I moved my cell cam to the scrapes to see what he is, track isn't too big though. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  24. I think that mentality is a big factor in this conversation too. We all take hunting for what it is now, and any change we tend to see as negative. I agree with antler restrictions on many fronts, not all but most. The majority of people who are opposed will stay that way... Until they start killing better deer. Noone prefers shooting 4 pts to 8+ points, (I'm sure that comment will bring out someone who says it's not about the antlers, always seems too). Change is hard to swallow at first but most look back and realize that the change in fact improved their experience. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  25. There is no denying archery hunting is more difficult than gun hunting. To be consistently successful with archery gear is harder than gun hunting by a "long shot." I know because I do both. I don't believe anyone is insinuating that gun hunters are terrible hunters, just that it takes more to be ultra close to deer than further away. But... In my opinion, the best all around hunters are the best bowhunters. Anyone can get within 150 yds of deer, but getting 20yds to deer is infinitely harder. And getting into position, drawing and then executing a great shot all takes more than clicking off a safety and centering crosshairs. But this isn't a debate about who's better. It was simply the issue of every other deer tag being used in multiple seasons but the gun buck tag. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
