  1. I remove the used blades and spin test them, if the ferrule isn't bent I put new blades on and reuse. I never reuse blades, probably could in certain instances but I just get into my own head about it the whole time. No point in worrying over $3 blades, put new on... 2. I can do that! He had a solid pair! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  3. Team 3 submission. Do I need to do anything else to qualify? Send a pic of my filled out tag or something? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  4. Figure Eights boat side! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  5. Awesome Rob! Team 3 is pulling weight early! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  6. First off. Just because there are plenty of does doesn't mean the bucks just lay around in their recliners waiting for does to drop by and get serviced all while eating like pigs. Deer have a natural change when it comes time to breed, it's a light switch for them. They instinctively move more and eat less. It's science. Secondly, just because there are plenty of does doesn't mean bucks have it easy. In fact in areas where the ratio is very skewed, the rut can last 3-4 times longer than it should. Therefore further exhausting the bucks. Especially in a tract of land as large as the adirondacks which lacks agriculture. Just look at the guys who track bucks up there, they will follow tracks for 5+ miles at times in a day. How many farmland type bucks do that? I bet very few. You can try to twist your own hypothesis all you want but science and the forces of nature do not agree with you. When you were in your prime breeding years, in a bar full of women, were you thinking about the food menu? Were you sitting around eating? No, you weren't. You had one thing on your mind. 7. I looked before bed last night and saw 10% also. My alarm went off this morning and it was pouring, rolled back over. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  8. You never said it was either. I'm not butthurt in the slightest, I just know your type, or at least the type you portray on here. I'll be sure to congratulate you in the same manner when you get a buck then... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  9. Do you ever not complain about something?? Jesus man! That's a hell of a deer, if you can't enjoy it without finding something to piss on just cruise on by! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  10. I understand there are different circumstances, and I'm partially playing devil's advocate here also. But there's not a hunter out there that if faced with killing a big buck or a small buck, is choosing the small one. It's just not in our nature. So it's a strange phrase to me, when people downplay big bucks antlers but then find out they've never killed a big one. And BIG is certainly relative to the size you generally kill also. To me big is anything over 120". I will still kill a smaller buck in certain instances, but it's few and far between these days as I enjoy more mature deer now. I don't degrade most people for their deer size choices, I say most because there are a few people I have spoken my peace to. But ultimately, shoot what you're happy with. But I don't know a single hunter who doesn't seem happy with a BIG buck laying in front of them! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  11. But... There's a reason you got the one mounted and not the other two, right? Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  12. It wasn't necessarily at you but at that phrase, and I do agree to an extent. But generally speaking when people try to de-emphasize how much they seek a big buck it's usually because it has eluded them. I'm not a trophy hunter either, but after I killed my first 3.5+ buck, I strive for that every year now. It's not about the inches to me, it's about the age. I find the older deer (3.5+ to me) a greater challenge. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  13. Everyone says it's not about the size of the buck until they kill their first big one! In my experience... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  14. Even a mechanical that doesn't open and lands where it should is going to kill a deer, albeit maybe slower and a longer track. I'd bet 70% of deer taken during archery season are taken with mechanicals. I shoot an average of 3 deer a year for the last 15 years with mechanicals and have never had a failure, ever. If you choose to shoot a fixed head then do that, but don't bash mechanicals because of it. My Spitfires never let me down. As evidenced again last night, 3.5 yr old buck, exit through the offside shoulder. Down in 45yds with a path of blood. If you had one bad Taco in your life are you going to stop eating Tacos and publicly bash them? Doubt it. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  15. I have 3 cell cams now and it does help me know where I should be but just doesn't involve me going to checking them so often. It does help my success but it's certainly not cheating in my opinion. It's not like you get a picture then can go out and kill the deer. It's still hunting, it just tells you where the best odds are... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  16. It was a great opening day for me. I saw 5 does and fawns this AM. Decided to go out close to home tonight to a spot I haven't scouted or ran any cameras at all this year. I knew there is a lot of oaks in there and should be dropping. I went in and found a good tree and climbed up. It was slow except for raccoons eating acorns all afternoon. An hour before dark I had a small 5 point come in behind me, followed by a young 8 point. They feed around at 10-30yds for half an hour then they both go on alert and are looking to where they came from. 5 minutes later I see another buck coming, noticeably larger. He came up and stopped at 12yds and I sent a Spitfire through his lungs, he made it 50 yds. I'm happy to have him but hunting through November without a buck tag will feel odd! 17. I think team 3 gets bonus points for first buck on the board!@chef Here's another look at him too! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  18. Thanks everyone! It's honestly really bittersweet. I'm thankful to have him but I'm really dreading hunting the rut now! Guess I'll take pictures from here on out! I just couldn't pass up a 12yd shot on the opener! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  19. Team 3 might be starting strong. I shot what I think is a pretty good buck before dark! Gonna go trail him shortly, I think I heard him crash!! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  20. Could've filled my possum tag this morning. I'm gonna hold out for one a bit more mature though... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  21. 5 does and fawns so far, and a spike under my tree in the dark. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  22. Cameras haven't been on fire lately but it's opening day so I'll be in a tree before light hoping for a big flathead to mosey by. An opening day deer really sets me into a comfy archery season. Here's to hoping! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  23. Hot bite again. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  24. Impossible to really know as every deer/situation is different. Middle to End of October should be they're peak weights in theory. I usually add 500 grains to their weight if they're good enough for me... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
