  1. With a full inclusion for crossbow and still 2 weeks of gun season the numbers will be controlled. Look at many midwest states, they do it successfully, why can't we here? It's not about "bowhunters getting everything they want." Im against full inclusion for xbows, but I'd gladly let them take the place of 2 weeks worth of rifle season. Then run bow/xbow til Dec. 31st. Is my opinion free of bias, no, of course not, noone's is. That's why it's an opinion, you're obviously more of a gun hunter (judging by your stance) and that's where your opinion stems from. And why is it "bowhunters" or "gunhunters"? We're all hunters, there shouldn't be such a divide. Nothing is stopping anyone from picking up archery/xbow hunting but themselves, and if more people applied themselves they'd be just as successful with archery gear as a rifle. 2. I'd guess a Ruger Camp Carbine in 44mag... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

  4. Noone is advocating for an open season. We're simply asking if we can kill our 2nd buck a few weeks earlier. Same difference in the end. 2 dead bucks. I can kill like 6-8 does( I generally only shoot 2 by choice), do you see an issue with that? Noone is upping the tag numbers? Hell, I'd even entertain the idea that your first buck can be whatever is legal, the second buck of the season needs to have 3- 4 points to a side. I think you're failing to realize that the DEC statistics used to be... ( I haven't heard in several years now but..) The average bowhunter in NY gets 1 deer every 3 years during archery. Those guys aren't going to change anything, and the few (like some of us on here) who do kill 2 in archery, were probably going to kill 2 anyhow. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  5. How many of the guys you know don't? I bet most. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  6. In order for me to be in agreement with that, I'd like to see a reduction in gun season. If they would take 2 weeks off of rifle I'd be all for crossbow the whole season... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  7. And while I'm demanding season changes... Take away late muzzle, make the first week of gun season muzzleloader like it is for northern tier. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  8. Like Nomad said, the percentage that take two bucks is almost a moot point. I'd like to be able to fill both buck tags during archery season! Why not? Every other tag is good in multiple seasons, heck even your reg season buck tag goes to buck or doe in late season! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  9. I found what I needed on "Lohman Arms" online, they ship directly to you, no ffl needed. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  10. I'll add another point in the next few weeks, haven't been out since the 7th! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  11. I've seen it advertised a lot on the pursuit channel. The owner really annoys me. I've never tried one, never will most likely. Seems like someone trying to sell you on an idea, not science. Billions of deer were killed without a HECS suit, so it doesn't appeal to me much. There's no way of ever knowing if it worked or not either, perfect sales pitch, you can't disprove or prove if it works! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  12. My younger brother just shot a buck with muzzle. After 2 misses yesterday he knew something was off, he took my father's gun and got it done behind my parents house. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  13. My father just "smoked" (muzzleloader) a doe and my brother missed one. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk

  18. Good luck to everyone who's chasing ducks today! I'll be smelling gunpowder and swamp water very soon... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  19. I plan on dropping an early limit! Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  20. For sure. If I can walk around the brush for a couple of hours and come out with a tick, a deer that lives out there certainly has them. Some areas are worse than others I'm sure, but I'd bet they all have some... Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  21. Quick recap from this AM. Shortly after light I was sitting in my climber and a blonde coyote appeared at 25 yds coming right to me. I couldn't move quick enough and he got past me, I lip squeaked and he stopped but not long enough. He disappeared for 10 seconds and deer blew out everywhere. They worked behind me a few at a time. The first few sets of deer were does with fawns so I passed. Finally toward the back I saw a big lone doe walking out around 50 yds. She got in the open and just stood there. I ranged her at exactly 50 yds, then decided I didn't want to shoot that far. 3-4 minutes passed and she still hasn't moved but being behind me I couldn't angle around my tree enough. I decided to swivel my climber around the tree a few inches at a time. I did that and she still hasn't moved, perfectly broadside. I ranged her again, 50. I moved my sight pin and decided I'd draw back and settle the pin and if I didn't feel comfortable I'd let down. Well I settled good so I let it fly. Hit her a few inches high but it exited right behind her offside shoulder. She hit the ground, stood back up for 10 seconds and tipped over right there. Meanwhile I'm still surrounded by deer. As I'm waiting for the deer to work off I notice a 2 yr old buck coming in to 20 yds. I took a few pics as he went by and waited for him to leave and got down. All of this before 8AM! 22. It was a great opening day for me. I saw 5 does and fawns this AM. Decided to go out close to home tonight to a spot I haven't scouted or ran any cameras at all this year. I knew there is a lot of oaks in there and should be dropping. I went in and found a good tree and climbed up. It was slow except for raccoons eating acorns all afternoon. An hour before dark I had a small 5 point come in behind me, followed by a young 8 point. They feed around at 10-30yds for half an hour then they both go on alert and are looking to where they came from. 5 minutes later I see another buck coming, noticeably larger. He came up and stopped at 12yds and I sent a Spitfire through his lungs, he made it 50 yds. I'm happy to have him but hunting through November without a buck tag will feel odd! 23. Didn't notice any on either deer I killed so far. I'm positive there were some on them. I'm not sure there's a deer out there without a tick on them. They're just so small they're really hard to notice. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  24. Good info above. The warmer the scat, the closer the deer, pinch those turds and find the herds! Find a spot with a lot of tracks, poop, and other sign (nipped briar buds, capped acorns, obvious food sources, beds) then go from there. The more quantity of food, tracks and poop, the more frequent deer visit. Trail cams are your friend. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
  25. We were vertical jigging small blade baits mostly. Minnows though are by far the most productive bait right now. I tied up a few 1/16 oz perch colored jigs and tipping with a worm and those were getting inhaled also. Go shallow, 12-14' in the weeds on the western end of the lake and you should be able to find some perch. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk
