Big difference between entertainment shows and instructional shows - pointless to compare. How do you compare Wildgame Nation with something like Hill Country Bucks? You don't. Midwest Whitetails comes about as close as it gets to offering some elements of both, but it is pretty clear some of the tactics he believes in are clearly being used in limited non-pressure situations. There is a good amount of info that is applicable, however, getting people to think about entry/exit and similar tactics.
-
Ohio matches up real well actually - most people don't realize or want to admit it. Similar hunting pressure rates, similar forested to ag rates, similar soil quality breakdowns, similar a lot of things. Do we take Ohio's systems and make it ours? No, but I can tell you without a doubt, if we did, we wouldn't be worrying about the BS this thread contains. Ohio is a machine with surgical precision at addressing population dynamics - they've proven it year in and year out. Just look at the changes they've made to antlerless tags, season dates and lengths, etc. Perfect? nope. But sure as heck a lot better of a starting point than what we have here with the inmates running the asylum.

The cold crisp air and the smell of change. Hoodie weather... The crap talking also tends to ramp up a bit amongst my hunting friends. The future always seems bright during fall.
-
X2 on that. Thanks Padre.
-
Grow - again, you are not seeing the forest for the trees. You are making a mountain lion out of a mole hill....
-
Extirpation is also not evolution.... we are many moons away from a self-sustaining population here. Let's not lose sight of that in this nonsense.
-
Ahead of the game? By 100 years? Let's get real. A self sustaining population hasn't been in NY since the late 1800s. While repopulation may occur, it's not going to happen overnight. Maybe it is something my kid has to deal with as an adult, but we have more important things to tackle in our lifetime.

And, I'll just leave this here - a quote from someone with the org to me before this season right before the announcement went live.... bowhunters better be careful about squawking too loudly on this, however; the next step will likely be an early muzzleloader, which will see bowhunting literally go up in smoke....
-
Quote 2 is a year before they enacted the antlerless season......................... It is pretty clear you've been proven wrong - your refusal to admit it just furthers the image others here have noted about you.

Not many reviews on there yet - having some challenges with the format of the e-commerce site to allow me to list and post the reviews in a user friendly fashion.
-
Sorry this new site format makes me overlook threads somehow. If I were to pick the best dollar for dollar regular (non cell) camera brand right now - it is Browning. Overall reliable, surprisingly high level of performance for the cost, and acceptable battery life. That's not to say once in a while someone doesn't have a camera that acts up on them, but it's not all too common. I wouldn't sell what I don't use personally. PM me for pricing and I can make sure you get a cam matched to your intended use.

30 seconds of google wrap that up quickly. 1. “Using DMPs has not been effective,” Hurst said, “and we tried Phase 2 (the antlerless-only portion of archery and in the late archery-muzzleloader season) with little success. So we’re moving on to the third phase.” In addition to the September muzzleloader season in those WMUs (primarily in the Lake Ontario Plains region but also in a couple of southeastern New York units), other options in the discussion stage are a muzzleloader season “during one of our existing seasons,” Hurst said, alluding to the possibility of the smokepole-during-archery offering. 2. If an antlerless-only option within the archery and late muzzleloader seasons doesn’t give DEC the desired harvest in those units, the next step – outlined in the state’s Deer Management Plan – would be the implementation of a special antlerless-only muzzleloader season in select WMUs. “If antlerless harvests continue to be insufficient, we must anticipate alternative strategies for increasing antlerless harvest in specific WMUs,” Hurst said in his pre-season report ahead of last year’s deer season. As to the effectiveness of bow in other states - Ohio is arguably the prime example of that. Gee a season THAT STARTS in SEPTEMBER and goes to February of the following calendar year. And crossbow has more harvest than vertical bow in Ohio now. Plus, let's not forget how short and so sweet their gun season is. No wonder it is so effective in other states...duh. You seem to forget NY's 23 day gun season in the SZ is one of the longest in the country and the longest by far in the NE.

Pretty sure everyone in my group killed a doe on the very first hunt of their bow season. One of whom you are losing the battle of whits to in this thread. I've shot does the last three opening days of bow myself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I don't think they have ever been in the way for a shot for me lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I'd guess pretty close to that - pretty typical race horse appearance of a three year old. I'd ballpark 125, but it looks like he has some brow kickers, etc. Even with the loss of mass after velvet comes off, I still think you have a decent scoring buck.

We seem to forget that the first two weeks of October were an afterthought after gun moved to Saturday to appease that loss. Let's just call it more of the same politics that has endured and is what we saw with this antlerless insertion. In large - the same people that influenced the decision making process are still in power. Here is what has occurred during that time: One massive over-issuing of DMPs, leading to a significant drop in deer populations, taking more than 5 years to reach the level pre-issue. The MZ season in bow 10 years ago was only prevented by a massive opposition at the last second - it was being pushed and not sought out as an option at all. A DECALS/online licensing system that is amongst the worst in the nation; including a change of vendor that made no tangible improvement over the acknowledge weaknesses of the first version Outright refusing to acknowledge other options for antlerless harvest - such as OTC tag use, removing consignments, and eliminating the Nov 1 second application timeframe. Inserting the two weeks of antlerless without even tinkering with the right tool to do that job Repeated, regular failures to adjust operations to account for KNOWN deadlines - such as the BS that transpired with the regs book this year Poorly handling the AR topic and taking years to provide a stance - not even based on the actual studies they said would guide their decision making process. I am sure there are others I am forgetting... These people have the best job security in the state. I am sure their jobs are NOT easy, but let's call a spade a spade here. Accountability lapses abound.

The arm rests are nice - I like them, but my two hunting partners are not fans of the arm rests as they do get in the way of some shooting situations with a bow. Those stand are fine for use.

It is a lot of work to revamp and upgrade and maintain this site. It is a useful tool for a lot of us so we should be mindful of that. That said, I still struggle with some of the changes and prefer the prior format. My user experience has been downgraded since the new format. Some of it I am sure is because options/modifications are not located in the same places. I can't reasonably see my content - to see if replies have been made to my posts or in that thread. I don't subscribe because I don't want a pile of notifications. Ah well, bigger things in life to worry about, right?

Be prepared to be cited. There was a well publicized video of a similar situation using a dye canister - guy was trespassing to get to another property to hunt. Both the landowner and the trespasser were cited. A lot of times they don't care about the camera to use it or sell it, they simply want to ensure their pic doesn't reach your hands.
-
They don't need a store front - they simply need to have some sort of base of operations here. Wouldn't be surprised if they happen to have a warehouse or shipping intake location downstate.

All you have to do is look at the difference in security design with custom's boxes... http://www.custom1enterprises.com/custom1enterprises_010.htm
-
Flathead screwdriver and I'm gone with that camera in 90 seconds.
-
Lockboxes are not made equal. Many lockboxes have a weakpoint that can be exposed with a simple flathead screwdriver.
-
If you go the lockbox route, custom1 makes the best ones on the market. By the time you have a lockbox, cable, and lock, you are $75 or more into the protection of that unit.
